    Use lots of chalk.

    Take care of your hands - file down calluses with a nail file to make sure there is no torn skin before you start as that is what will rip off.

  • duct tape is dumb. athletic tape or gymnastics tape works well. make sure handle is smooth.

That you would even post that comment demonstrates that you really don't understand kettlebells or conditioning. Kenneth's protocols are for olympic level conditioning. Why must people criticize what they don't understand?

  • Its at the RKC certification and even if you take care of your hands by the time you reach day three of the workshop, which is when this workout took place, your hands are toast!!!

  • Snatches all around! Weird i have to say taping the hands. Ive done high rep snatches for years with no problems you just need to open the hand up on the way down to avoid the pinching. Also was that just a one off thing for a video? Because from expirience teaching a class anywhere around 20 people for kettlebell is pretty much useless.

  • I think this is just a video of an RKC workshop or certification- plenty worth it...

  • What's with the duct tape? Why don't the wear gloves like normal people?

  • Gloves are too thick and dont allow you to feel the handle properly resulting in overgripping and torn skin.

    For some, the duct tape is a way of protecting blisters or torn calluses in the making.

  • I no longer recommend Duct Tape. The advhesive comes off as the tape twists. The handle becomes sticky resulting in more torn skin. Bad idea. My hands looked like I had advanced leprosy after the RKC because of Duct Tape. Don't do it.

  • IME, i use a lot of chalk because I find if the kb slides around less, my hand gets torn up less.

    I've never tried doing kb lifts with gloves, but in my first 3 years of using them, I got some pretty gnarly blisters and such. But for the last few years, i've been chalking up hardcore and using my rock climbing ball and I've found it's actually easier on my skin with less slippage

  • I've done "snatch" sets with kettlebells for high reps off and on over the last few years, and I can testify that this kind of "abuse" will make you feel as if you are going to puke your guts out. Tough stuff indeed.
