This is not a war of protecting freedoms (from an outsiders perspective) but a matter of securing oil. Venezuela has the largest oilfield in the world (it doubles Saudi). So keep out of the Middle East...let it go back to a tribal land trading camels and be done with it. The US hit peak oil a while back and are in a tizzy to get more oil rather than becoming efficient. Preserving freedoms...that is naive.

I respect the military, deeply, as I have wanted to join when I was younger and often think of joining now. I can respect the rage that many Americans must have due to 911 as I`d be first in line if it happened in Canada. But, I think Americans are only learning that a self centered jingoistic nation simply is not liked on a personal level nor respected because of its foreign policy. When traveling, people are simply relieved to learn I am NOT American. This is not new or specific to me.

Also, ever think about if another country was in the US with so many of its military bases. You feel threatened about 911, but ever think about the average resident (not a politician or businessman) of any foreign land likes to know that the US has a constant presence there. The world is not `free`as you say it, because of America. The term Freedom is simply shoved down your throats since Grade 1. Folks all want the same things...but Americans want 10 of the same things and still not happy.
