Dated or not this song is a clasic! What is the defination of the word "Classic"? Somthing that stands the test of time and still sounds as fresh and chrisp as the first time you ever heard it.
Thanks for the great song and the good memories it brings back when heard...God I am old, lol.
The visual image is dated but the song and the music is superb - just listened to a Black Label Society version of this and it's not a patch on this version.
Thanks for posting and keeping great music like this alive. I don't care what people say, this was and will always be some of the best music ever recorded. I've been a fan of Greg Giuffria's since Angel. He's one of the most underrated keyboardists ever. I would love to see him put this band back together. I doubt it will ever happen because he's not into the music scene anymore and last I knew was doing well in Vegas. Still, we can dream right?
@PennybagPedro I was and it wasn't cheesy then it was pretty fucking cool. I know what it looks like now, and it is cheesy, but I had a band and I had a fucking great time. Party your ass off, find great friends and live till you puke. You'll age hard but it'll be worth it.
This is a nice remake of the classic by Blind Faith. Years ago when I was on the road this song made a lot of sense to me. It is nice to see House of the Lords attitude with the "fear no bar chords approach" to life.........Thanks guys for a classic.....ballrooms, smoke machines and big hair.........the way music should be played. peace
As good as these guys were, they just couldn't separate themself from the pack.Fighting to make a name for themself in a field where bands like..Motley Crue,Poison,Ozzy,Def Leppard, and Kiss (ex) ruled the world.
This is what happens and we the (the Rock Nation )allow it,we forget the music that should always be remembered. This is very well done, let's keep the "R" in Rock n Roll!!
All i can say is that it was very well performed, almost a balad but not quite, border line. Greg Giuffria was a very good musician in a very difficult time because of so mutch talent that was out there, the eighties had so mutch to offer in terms of music and the way "rock stars"should look like on and off the stage.Bring the music back, please.
Just reminiscing about the awesomeness of Z-rock on Wiki. Had forgotten about the nightly nuke, mandatory metallica, top 5 at 9, crankin craig, etc. etc. ZZZZZZZZZROOOOCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
@stimpp i'll never forget that night in '87 when i was bored scrolling thought the AM dial and heard The Trooper. I didn't change the channel for 5 years.
My bad Greg. So you just hired him for the video. Got it. So all the other photos you are in with him you doodled at home on your sketch pad? And the 200 photos of you 2 in Florida at the livestock event were hand sketched by you or a figment of Michael's imagination? OK Greg yeah we believe you. What about the remember my name video? He is not in that either right? And the photos of Guy tracking laydown and babylon at A&M.. fakes too? L O L
@westgatefilms Pleasew let me explaine as you seem to be so upset about this. We were recording at A&M studios... that is where I held auditions for guitar players. Michael was choosen as a"stand in" for Doug in the video shoot and yes we usually shoot more than one at once for budget reasons. Michael did not play guitar on the tracks he did video on. I dont believe I keep any of his solos on the record.... I could be wrong but I dont think so. MG was very gracious and knew he was not in band. G
@G2G27777 ok ... so both videos were shot on the same day. One in the desert and one in downtown LA. How did you clone yourselves to be in 2 locations with 2 directors on the same day. Interesting to note Michael Bay was with propaganda films and Can't find my way Home was a completely different production company and location. The tape of a KLOS radio interview of you going on about how you chose Michael for the band. I bought that on ebay.
@westgatefilms Are you ok? We didnt shoot the same day... within a time frame of a couple months if I remember we are in the video shoot mode. Im trying to be polite to Michael about this... yes I probaly said we choose him... it did not take long for musical and other problems to arise. Enough of this wha,t is your point. Call me and I will gladly answere your questions. As I said, email me your number and you can have all these concerns answered. If not Im sorry and will not respond again.
@G2G27777 Maybe you two out too get out have a couple of drink's and discouse this in more private surronding's,just a suggestion.I for one enjoy the music that Greg has put out.
I have to agree with west. Michael Guy busted his ass to promote House of Lords and their music. Without Guy H.O.L would not exsist. But we have to give the real credit to Blind Faith, because if it wassn't for them the song would never may have never been written. H.O.L. did a great job on revamping the song.
@jaiden1016 Michael Guy was never in the band! What on Earth are you talking about? I hired him to be in the video... we were searching for a guitar to replae Doug. Thats not Guy playing guitar on the record! Just trying to be fair to the truth. Gregg Giuffria
This is a great song but it pisses me off that my computer will only load like 10 seconds of the video at a time and then i have to skip to another part so it will load another 10 seconds. I have a brand new computer and no viruses so i dont know wtf is going on with the loading.
Michael traveled to promoted the record, did over 40 magazines/ photo shoots, rehearsed with the band, recorded with the band and appeared in 2 videos NOT 1. You want us to believe that you met Guy in a bath house? And that you lied to fans when you issued the CD credits Greggy? Why that's as stupid as building a hard rock casino in hurricane county.......dumb ass.. Lets see the more popular vids WITHOUT Michael.... whats that? There are none?? dip shit.
Gregg.. trying to defame Michael Guy makes you look bad. So who's band was it. Michael's? House of Coke Dealers was your band right? And YOU printed the fucking CD covers. And now you say Michael did NOT play solos on the record? Either you are a liar now.... or a BIG fucking liar to all the fans then. You also bounced the check to Bob Bradshaw? ....big Rock star my ass. I know a lot of guys in this band who have been sued by Michael for starting up shit. Wanna be next?
@westgatefilms Yes! What in Gods name are you going on about. Michael Guy did not play on the album. I should know I produced it.... and yes I would love to be "next". I dare you! Gregg Giuffria
@golddusters there needs to be more, actual PLAYERS, not the ghetto gangsta stigma of playa... Musicians are a dying breed, now they are being replaced with models & slop guitarists that can't even tune their instrument to concert pitch...
I used to play this at a strip club in south houston waaaaaaay back in the day, couldn't remember who did it except for Blind Faith...this was a serious blast to some good times "back in the day."
I'm not sure the posts claiming to be from Greg Giuffria are legit?..He's been harping on about this for the last 2 years? and under 2 names? Seems to have problem with Mike Guy too. Jeez, the man was asked to be in the vid its not his problem people keep mixing him up with Doug.
@gbruceisgod Harping no... hoping yes... that just a few facts are right. sorry if that is upsetting. Yes to MG comment. Nothing wrong with getting things mixed up... Mike just took it alittle farther. I hope you like the remake.... just music. Gregg
Greg, trying to right wrongs on youtube is a terrible waste of time. Most people don't bother reading the comments and just post there own opinion. There was a live performance on youtube from some tv show that had Doug on guitar that was fantastic. I cant find it anymore but i hope you've seen it. As good as all the guys were none have ever matched Lanny on 'Edge of your life'. I hope your well and thanks for all the music.
thepolishprince1.....are you stupid or what? This song is simply a cover, but House of Lords become famous for their first album, which contains many excellent tracks, Pleasure Palace, Love don't Lie, Jaelous Heart, I wanna be loved, Edge of Your Life, Lookin' for Strange. You have to listen carefully to their music before say stupid stuff.
I don't have a problem with musicians writing or composing their own material or songs that they've worked on for weeks, months or even years to make them the best that they can possibly be. I recently discovered that the band, Blind Faith, did this song back in 1969 so I'm a little disturbed by this fact. If "HOL" wants to work real diligently on becoming famous by their own merits, that's awesome but to redo a song that was already famous is a very poor way to make it big. Oh, well...whatever!
Dude, you obviously don't have a clue whatsoever! Bands cover other groups songs all the time. Even the bigger outfits do it. I bet if you look at your favorites in your catalog, you'll discover this as well. I couldn't list all the bands I know that have done covers....not enough space. So, for you to make comments and put down HOL for this is rather mute.
I don't know anything about this rock band. YOU'VE proudly stated that this is a "great band" so could you take the time to tell me how & why they are so great? That's a pretty bold & powerful statement to make on behalf of this band. Is it their hooks & melodies that make them so great? Is it their stage show that makes them so great? Is it their memorable song lyrics & harmonies that make them them so? I'd appreciate if it you could enlighten me on how you feel HOL is so great? Thank you!
I love all three versions equal(Blind Faith, Styx and this one). They all have their own distinctness and saying that one is better then the other is just a matter of opinion.
I can just hear Greg Guiffria when they were setting up for this shoot...."So, where do I set up my pipe organ at?" "Oh, over there by the cactus and yucca tree will be fine."....Amazing.....
I saw Blind Faith do this live in '69 and it remains one of my favorite songs of all times. Then in 2007, the really smooth version by Winwood & Clapton was also absolutely great. But I have to say that this House of Lords version continues to blow me away (especially turned WAY UP). Absolutely too much ...
I saw them in Chicago touring Sahara,I was interested in seeing what Greg G was like, hoping there was a little Angel flavor to some of it.Bobby Rock was the drummer. The audience was 99.9 % screaming 10 year old girls to see "Nelson" turned out HOL was backing Nelson..out of curiosity we stayed for a couple Nelson tunes..then boogied on.
could any one show me how to play the final guitar solo, just ( tapping part ) please>>. i love this song too mush and i really want to know how to do that. thanks a lot
I don't try to analyze the band....I just listen to the music and decide from that. I think they did a great job with a classic song. I like this version best.
well I guess if you want to look at it that way. I am refering to the Keyboard sound. Though I dont really have a problum with his singing I think the -music- in this song is nothing short of amazing.
This is the natural extension of a great piece of song writing. The full rock treatment was needed and right; I love this version. A quick look around YouTube will show the enduring power of this song. Great music lives beyond the original writers; this song is an example.
Both versions suck. That is why it is never played any time or any place. A song that is trying way too hard to be deep, meaningful and moving and utterly failing on all counts. A truly crappy song and crapy remake. Must be why Gene Simmons liked these guys so much. All flash and zero substance. Two things Gene knows all too well. Did Gene ever hit it big as a producer? Except for KISS everything Gene has done is shit. Acting. Shit. Reality TV. Shit. As a human being. Shit. Greedy fuck. Jackpot!
NOT better than the original. Give me a break. The first 2 minutes are good, but this is just another hair band from 20 years ago trying to make money from someone else's hard work. Great hair though!
These guys were so good, in fact they were too good. Their original material was light years ahead of the other bands of the day. This cover is amazing, Doug's guitar work is stellar. Not too say that Lanny's guitar work wasn't up to par on the first album. Just incredible vocal's and overall musicianship. They should have been bigger than what they were.
I agree, they did this song beyond great and its rare that a remake is half as good as the original but in this case i think it was better. Wish they were around longer...
Yeah, it's geeky '80's stuff, but a beautiful song. I can't believe these guys didn;t last... go on further... w/e. Useless trivia: Gene Simmons of KISS fame did something for these guys- produced, directed, something. You know the money wh0r3 that he is, surprised he didn;t milk them for 30+ years.
This song is about a decadent man who has been living the good life on a "throne." But he is about to die, becoming purely spirit ("leave your body alone"). The man will then meet God. "Home," of course, is Heaven. The man is questioning his wasted life, which is rapidly coming to an end. Now the man laments what he didn't do, as he waits longingly to meet Christ. ("You are the reason I have been waiting all these years."). As Baby Boomers start to die off, this song will become more poignant.
That's deep bro. I've listened to this song a thousand times and never heard it in that context. As a Christian, I'm ashamed I missed the underlying message. Thanks for the knowledge.
I can't belive i'm saying this...but I like this better than the orignal....I must be product of the 80-90's.....Steve Winwood and Blind faith were very, very good...but this
I miss you Tracy S(from Georgia via San Diego).... it's Erik P., from Baltimore. When we met in Denver that day,Summer of 1989, I fell in love with you from the second you smiled at me. When you left for Hawaii, it broke my heart. I have 2 kids now, a boy and a girl, but I think about you all the time...I still look at your pictures when I reminisce...remember that night we got drunk in the snowstorm? I will find you again...I promise...
The song is timeless, the cover version is an awesome tribute, but the video doesn't leave out a single 80s hair-metal cliche. Does anyone know if there are any missing?
Ha ha! stick spinning is at 2:44 and 2:44, and the strobe lights and blowing sand are close enough to explosions! "Can't find my way through the bushes" "Can't find my fretboard behind all this flying hair" Too funny!
My favourite version of this song... ever! When I think that guys like Motley Crue, Ratt or Warrant sold millions of record and did not have between them 1/10th of HOL talent... it makes me sick...
actually that's not Paul Shortino. That would be James Christian on vocals and guitar. Greg Giuffria is on keyboards, House Of Lords in an extension on the band "Giuffria" just without vocalist "David Glen Eisley" He had the top 40 hit "call to the heart" in 1984 with Giuffria.
You can find the video on Yahoo Videos. Search on House of Lords and you will find it under their videos sections. They have like 5 videos altogether on Yahoo.
Brings back memories. Incredible rendition.

@erichani1 For the original - the group was called "Blind Faith"
Eric Clapton – guitar, vocals
Steve Winwood – organ, bass, guitar, piano, keyboards, vocals, harmonica
Ginger Baker – percussion, drums

Album cover was controversial for the time but not meant to be perverted. Look up the history, you'll be surprised

I recently discovered that the band, Blind Faith, did this song back in 1969 so I'm a little disturbed by this fact. If "HOL" wants to work real diligently on becoming famous by their own merits, that's awesome but to redo a song that was already famous is a very poor way to make it big. Oh, well...whatever!
thepolishprince1 2 years ago

Love Doug's playing on this album. Probably the first time I took notice of his style (even before I knew the name).
Supposedly Impelliteri played on like 1% of the album, anybody know where? The intro part of Sahara?
hameron 2 years ago

I don't try to analyze the band....I just listen to the music and decide from that. I think they did a great job with a classic song. I like this version best.

Just another Glam Rock Hair Band over dramatizing a classic song. It never needed all that pretty boy hype...blecchhh!
They are just like Poison and all those 80's bands. Long live Traffic.

This is the natural extension of a great piece of song writing. The full rock treatment was needed and right; I love this version. A quick look around YouTube will show the enduring power of this song. Great music lives beyond the original writers; this song is an example.
soodesunee 2 years ago 2

Not many people can cover a super group like Blind Faith and make it sound good. This cover is great, another terrific underrated band
dantasyland 3 years ago
These guys were so good, in fact they were too good. Their original material was light years ahead of the other bands of the day. This cover is amazing, Doug's guitar work is stellar. Not too say that Lanny's guitar work wasn't up to par on the first album. Just incredible vocal's and overall musicianship. They should have been bigger than what they were.
lgwelsh1 3 years ago
I agree, they did this song beyond great and its rare that a remake is half as good as the original but in this case i think it was better. Wish they were around longer...

I hate to bust your bubble guys, but Lanny Cordolloa played the guitar on this album,"Django Junior" is the guitar god nobody knew about...

ummm...Michael Guy played guitar on this album. "sahara" Cordolloa left after their first album, cuz the band wouldn't tour.

Great tune released in 1990 on the CD Sahra.Of note the song was written by S.Winwood with Executive Producer Gene Simmons.

I am old school 99 times out of 100 but i must admit this in my opinion is better than the original. And i LOVE the original!
hop2171 3 years ago
Yeah, it's geeky '80's stuff, but a beautiful song. I can't believe these guys didn;t last... go on further... w/e. Useless trivia: Gene Simmons of KISS fame did something for these guys- produced, directed, something. You know the money wh0r3 that he is, surprised he didn;t milk them for 30+ years.
JonandKeri 3 years ago
This song is about a decadent man who has been living the good life on a "throne." But he is about to die, becoming purely spirit ("leave your body alone"). The man will then meet God. "Home," of course, is Heaven. The man is questioning his wasted life, which is rapidly coming to an end. Now the man laments what he didn't do, as he waits longingly to meet Christ. ("You are the reason I have been waiting all these years."). As Baby Boomers start to die off, this song will become more poignant.
rockyracune 3 years ago 2
That's deep bro. I've listened to this song a thousand times and never heard it in that context. As a Christian, I'm ashamed I missed the underlying message. Thanks for the knowledge.

The song is timeless, the cover version is an awesome tribute, but the video doesn't leave out a single 80s hair-metal cliche. Does anyone know if there are any missing?

I didn't see the drummer spinning his sticks and I may have missed the explosions. Other than that, you are right!!
lopergrad 3 years ago
Ha ha! stick spinning is at 2:44 and 2:44, and the strobe lights and blowing sand are close enough to explosions!

This is Paul Shortino from ROUGH CUTT. And Greg Giffuria. Good song.
yoshibax 3 years ago
actually that's not Paul Shortino. That would be James Christian on vocals and guitar. Greg Giuffria is on keyboards, House Of Lords in an extension on the band "Giuffria" just without vocalist "David Glen Eisley" He had the top 40 hit "call to the heart" in 1984 with Giuffria.
