  • omg this is so... unexplainable it whit words

  • that Rhodes just gives me the shivers...

  • Cool, was there, no complaints :)

  • 1:51 - sweet lick :P

  • Love this track. Dave Weckl lays down an excellent groove as always. I was turned on to Chick back in '79, and have been a die-hard ever since. He is hands down my favorite musician. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a jazz scene in London, Ontario(Lambeth) back then. But I have managed to turn a few music freaks on to the legend....Keep on doin' what you do...You rule Chick!!!!

  • GREAT CLIP!!! WHAT A BAND!!! B.

  • 1:02 too cool to dance, but they still want to move around. I can respect that.

  • More like too cramped to dance!

  • 2:04 - 2:27

    Typical Chick.

  • feels almost too good!.. almost lol

  • dave weckl is amazing... good feel.

  • definetly a moog ring mod at 1:52 not a midi instrument, wtf. mark Vs are wonderful though!

  • Amazing.

  • Chick´s the one!

  • A nice little example of the midi Rhodes in action begining at 1:52 and continuing for a few seconds. Only about 3,000 of the of the Rhodes Mark Vs were produced before the factory closed down in '84 and Chick owns one of only three midi versions of the Mark V that were made as demos.

  • I'm not saying you're wrong about chick's instrument but at 1:52 chick just switched on the little ring modulator he has sitting on top of the Rhodes. It's one of his most used effects recently.

  • Could be, but it's hard to tell if he pressing a button on top or on the piano's panel in front of him. Not a new effect if he is though. He, Herbie, Keith Jarrett have been using ring modulators for some 40 years now.

  • No words... Sensimilia for ears!

  • adds a little moogerfooger ringmodulator at 1:55

  • really obnoxious. :-/

  • Eric Marienthal is an amazing sax player. now he's lead alto in Gordon Goodwins big phat band.

  • Seen him and the Electric Band once and the show was great...truly an underrated band of talent.

  • they're not underrated - they're just not unashamedly commercial

  • well put

  • chick corea the best band of all this stuff

  • I like Frank G.'s wig!

  • Chick Corea rules! He's one of my favorite jazz piano players. I've been to see him perform in Ft Lauderdale with Gary Burton; they are both outstanding. Chick Corea is a true revolutionary in the music world.

    Thanks for the post.

  • this cant get any better than this!the ultimate musicians....i am so mad that rock and metal bands are playing at jazz fests like joe satriani and paul gilbert and others like them play at montreux ....this is stupid jazz fest with rock music LOL

  • It's rock and roll mixed with some jazz. Didn't you hear the end when dave weckl started to changing the shufle and timing of the snare?

    LISTEN

  • yo dude Rock originated from jazz soo basically that's jazz

  • Who cares , it's all music!!!!!!!!!!

  • Couldent agree more, relax!

  • I don't think that's right, Rock orininated from Blues and so did Jazz; that's the similarity

  • Blues is a kind of jazz right? That's what i thought

  • sorry, that is not correct

blues a musical genre which is the basis of most of today's music

nevertheless blues also describes a certain chord progression and this progression can be found in Jazz, too.

So this progression and the fact that jazz originated from blues connects these two DIFFERENT genres

  • The Bass player had short hair back then I guess

  • i think some1 filled in

  • I have to apologise for my last comment i was pretty pissed - i just HATE classical noodle doodling - just come up with a good riff. Mr Corea - You have have brain from another planet - just please don't noodle around a classical riff thinking we don't know!!

  • Amen!

  • you're a dick too!

  • O.O

i love chick corea, is that something wrong?

  • Oh, sorry. I thought you were saying you hated him. Someone said he was annoying and I thought you agreed with him. My apologies, kind sir.

  • and ur fucked up if u think Chick Corea isn't awesome

  • you're a dick!

  • yournot2smartru, do you have ears on your butt?

  • I want that Rhodes...

  • Free fly...

  • yamaha piano rhodes

  • It's a Fender Rhodes.

  • Erm no. It's a Rhodes Rhodes :D

A Rhodes Mark V to be exact. Extremely rare.

  • Great performance, i beleive the Rhodes hes using is a one-off prototype that he still plays.

  • its actually called "Blues for Miles"

    great tune

  • e um otimo video chik corea e um otimo isntrumentista e sua banda e demais

  • "I love BeBop...and I hear it's making a comeback!"

  • @ roost24, chick corea is one of the best players of piano who revolutionate the jazz music.

he's awesome & the best for me, with camillo herbie hancock & others

    va changer tes couches.

  • wtf...he's a fat fuck now...lol

  • he is anyway one of the best!! no metter how he is!!

  • who is that sax?

  • that's eric marienthal(i think i mispelled his last name sori.) he's one heck of a sax player.:)

  • Eric Marienthal on sax

  • awesome band, Dave Weckl on drums

  • buen desempeño en el juego del rhodes simplemente chick sabe tocar bien sobre todo los fraseos

  • i do belive in chick corea and elektric band.

  • Cool music but Chick Corea is a Scientologist nut bag.

  • Dear Roost24,

I think that one's religious practices should be respected. Whether you have a religion or not, you should be respected as well.

  • That might be true, scientology is not a religion though. It is a money scam cult.

  • No, one's right to practise religion should be respected, but not necessarily the religion itself. And anyway, Scientologyisn't a religion, it's a cult.

  • You have to look at the definition of religion!!! Scientology IS a religion! and I tell you...I'm a 18 years old Scientologist my family is in Scientology since about 25 years and they never took any money out of my family!! instead Scientology helped us a lot! now my father has his own company and I also bought an HammondXD but that doesn't metterXD anyway I don't want to tell you that you can't say what your viewpoint is but please respect other's religions as I do with your's! thanks!:)

  • Do you realise that L. Ron Hubbard was a science-fiction writer? So, do you think that may explain where he got the name 'Scientlogy' from? Methinks so. Also, may I point out that he said 'The way to get rich is to start a religion'?

  • Oh yeah!? and...mmh...where did he say that?! and when?! anyway Scientology means "the study of truth" It comes from the Latin word "scio" meaning "knowing in the fullest sense of the word" and the Greek word "logos" meaning "study of." so you can see that it doesn't have anythink to do with science! science also comes from the latin word "scio" so you can see that what you thought was not right. anyway it might be intrested if you could show me where L. Ron Hubbard says what you just wrote!

  • The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction lists Sam Moskowitz as the first good historian of science fiction [among other things]. In 1994 Moskowitz wrote an affidavit which states:

"After speaking for about an hour at the meeting, Mr. Hubbard answered questions from the audience. He made the following statement in response to a question about making money from writing: `You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion.'"

  • Got it...and how can you know that's true?! anyway I didn't see it so I can't say it's true..and I've got a cassette(VHS) of the ONLY interview Mr. Hubbard released and he did not say that!!!!

  • hahahahaha, wow -6

  • I do what I can, thank you God lovers!

  • No way! An argument about religion on YouTube! Well now I've seen it all!!!

Grow up guys, and except that others have beliefs and opinions that may contrast to yours.

  • Yes I didn't say he can't believe what he want but I think he should respect others religions! that's all!

  • Who's the bass player cause from the looks of it it's not John Pattitucci.

  • the bass player is Mike Pope

  • Thanks.

  • John Patitucci?

  • Excelente ! Qué recuerdos.

  • Grande Chick per non parelare poi di Dave e degl'altri.

    Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think the "device" is a good old-fashioned ring-modulator. I'd love to get my hands on one of those myself. It's like Larry Coryell or Jan Hammer in the early 70's!

  • Yep, I think it is that. Jan Hammer created his own recognizable sound using ringmod.

  • Is that bass really as long as I think it is, or is the bassist just happy to see me?

The bass just looks disproportionately long. Anyone know the model?

  • he's just happy to see you. lol jk. i think it looks that way cos the fretboard is wide. it's probably not a four string bass.

  • the bass is a fodera

  • YAMAHA

  • yes...John plays a yamaha signate...but in this concert the bassist is Mike Pope who's playing on a fodera bass with a preamp designed by mike himself...

  • didn't know John is not plaayin here

    my mistake, no offence :)

  • what? no john? thats not cool!

  • hi, i wanted to ask what the sax players name is??! thank you!! chris

  • He is Eric Marienthal...a good sax player in pretty much all kinds of jazz. He has released several solo albums as well. Hope this helps.

  • Great stuff a bit 'nicey nice' though. This shuffle groove is very dotted; almost a 16th note appart.

I think it's Dave Weckl showing off a bit of a different feel from the usual shuffle.

  • Fantastic Rhodes playing, Chicks 'the' man.

  • this song's called blue miles

  • Thanks, I updated the song´s info.

  • Cool!!! He sends his Fender Rhodes outer space with his MoogerFooger MF-102 :D Wicked!!!

But... does he use an expression pedal with that device, or is that not possible?

    Chick rules!

  • bad improvisation Mike!

  • anyone else think Dave Weckl's shuffle isn't very deep?

  • perhaps, but I think he's just keeping it light if you consider the feel of thie opening maybe you can see why, I don't know? If I had the chance to play this I think I would make it much funkier heavier, you know?

  • love chick corea.. found out about him when I bought my first pro keyboard I was 14

  • wait no its not nevermind. i didnt look i just assumed

  • john pattitucci

  • colud you please tell me who this bass player is?

  • The bassist is Mike Pope.

  • That's cool he's still using his custom Mark V.

  • I wonder, how would he like the new rhodes (mark VII), it probably sounds very similar to Mark V.

  • The Mark VII's have the same mechanics as the Mark V (and the models shown so far have actually used recycled Mark V tines and tonebars).

  • r u talking about eric or...?

  • VII's were crap

  • i asked that because he is playing on a mark VI alto.
