Bellerophon is the property of the Vintage Carriages Trust on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
It was one of a batch of only six that were built for a colliery system around Haydock by the mine workshops. They could not get locomotives with enough power externally, so they made their own.
The first of the six, AMAZON of 1874 was the first successful application of the piston valve to admit steam to the cylinders.
PS: Was the green one MEAFORD without lettering on the tank?

Beautiful engine. Just listen to that healthy sound it makes. The owner must be a fine care taker indeed.

which one is that? Bellerophon, Florence, Meaford or the Beyer Peacock?

Bellerophon would be a fantastic visitor to any steam gala. Pride of the Foxfield fleet.
