Dr. Sahib ka lecture kafi informative tha,Allah inhain jazaa day. Magar Abdullah bin Saba ik farzi kirdaar aur dastaan hay. Haqiqat main Hazrat Usman k zamaney main aqraba parwari thi,tamam governer un k relative thay aur Islami qawaneen ka ehtaraam nahi kartey thay,isliay baghawat hui.

Doosra Yazeed ko elect karna bohot barhi ghalti thi,woh is qabil na tha k kotwal bhi banaya jata,kujaa k wali ehd bana dia.

Muawiyah ik qabil siasat dan tha,is main koi shak nahi,jaisey k Z.A Bhutto.

@taha: You asked why Hazrat ma'Wia elected Yazid. Let me ask you Have u seen any weekness in yazid aur was he not capable enough to become khalifa. And I also told u this decision was taken after the advice of other sahabas. This was not the Hazrat Ameer Muawia's only decision.300 sahabas nay Yazid ke hand pay bait ki thi. (naooz u billa) sahabas was not fool that they elected yazid as his khalifa

Yaar Hammad jo bhi tum nay likha woh to main bhi manta hoon. Main bilkul bhi ehl-e-tasheeon ke aqaid ko tasleem naheen karta. But yaar tab bhi socho, Yazid was not a sahabi, Hazrat Hussain Radiallahuanh was a sahabi, aur phir un ka rutba us waqt ke sahaba main bhi buland tareen tha. To woh Yazid se to behtar choice thay na. Yaar yeh baat to tum bhi mano ge!

@hammad78: Naheen yaar...Hazrat Muawiyah Radiallahuanh ko to khilafat khud Hazrat Hasan Radiallahuanh nay supurd ki thi. Yeh decision to bilkul theek tha. But I'm talking afterwards!

@nilo723: hazrat ameer muawia elected his son yazid as wali ehed with the suggestions of the group of sahaba and secondly yazid was not the bad character person. These are the blames on yazid which are raised by shias. If yazid was the characterless person then why hazrat Ameer muawia elected him as wali ehad. Think about it!

Hammad I agree Yazid was not a bad charactered person, according to many historians. Though according to some he was. But even if he was a good person, Hazrat Hussain Radiallahuanh was the best person to be named as Khalifah after Ameer Muawiyah Radiallahuanh. So the question is why did Hazrat Muawiyah Radiallahuanh named Yazid as his successor, and not Hazrat Hussain Radiallahuanh?

But i still couldn't understand just 2 points -

1) How come Amir Muawiya(ra) selected his son to be the Caliph rather than the Sahaba present like the sons of Khulfa-e-Rashideen who were still alive and were much more knowledgeable than Yazeed?

2) And why did Yazeed send ibn ziyad as governor to Kufa and attack Medina? Did he punish those people who killed Hazrat Hussein(ra) after it??

You're very right. The same questions are of mine as well, and are still unanswered. There is a difference of opinion on these issues between Ehl-e-Tashi's and Ehl-e-Sunnat's riwayat, but InshaAllah I'll find them out!

What I understood from this lecture is that Amir Muawiya (ra) appointed Yazeed due to the backing of a strong tribe (ummaya) so that infighting would not occur again.

@sunny123321 There were many Sahaba(ra) present from the tribe of Banu Umayya too..There was also Abdullah Ibn Umar(ra)..

Besides what better a tribe to base Caliphate on than Banu Hashim? Hazrat Hussain(ra) was the best candidate and respected by all..

Anyways i will not doubt Hazrat Muawiya's(ra) intentions even though i disagree with his decision..

My main query was point no.2..

@nilo723 The reason why Yazid was selected as caliph after him was that if he would have selected Imam Husayn (RA) as successor to the caliphate then the whole muslim empire would have fallen as a result of family rivalries between the Umayyads and Hashmites.On the otherhand Abdullah ibn Zubayr had been an opponent to the caliphate of umayyads and it makes no sense why he would have been selected as caliph.These were the only real claimants to the caliphate while others were simply unwilling.

@saladkapatta The Prophet's(pbuh) grandson would have been much more acceptable than Yazeed for sure..But this is a part of history and cannot be undone now..

But anyways, regardless of that, my main query is still point no.2..
