I have all four on a friday demo tapes two of which being the origional copies hand written by thom yorke, my father was best mates with thom and also desiged there first poster which he still has to theis day.
You will never hear this tape in full unless someone decides to rip it and upload it to a file sharing site... which is unlikely. The person who posted this video was never heard from again by his internet peers, apparently, and he considered himself a technophobe... didn't know how to rip a cassette to his computer. He attempted to sell the tape on eBay, he said, but the results of that attempt are as of yet unknown. So for now, this is lost in the æther...
@marokokisetter 6th form is high school........they were all friends with my husband at school. We used to go and see them play in Oxford and of course bought the tapes that they made. I'll try to upload it!
@klootme That's really awesome you got to witness them play in their early stages. Please do upload the tape :) would you upload it through your youtube channel or through other means? let me know if you need help!
I was doubtful at first, but after listening to 'To Be a Brilliant Light' on the 1988 demo, I guess it's safe to assume that that is indeed Thom Yorke singing.
But my god, how his voice has changed! He sounds like Marvin Gaye on these demos and 20 years later he sounds... like Thom Yorke.
this is legit. radiohead formed in 86 under the name "on a friday" which refered to the day they all met in the school band room to rehearse. they played their first gig in oxford in 86 aswell. if im not mistaken that casette that this man has is one of the rarest pieces of RADIOHEAD memoribila one could possibly imagine to acquire. worth thousands upon thousands upon thousands to a worthwhile buyer. btw they eventually changed their name by request of emi music execs.
helkat this is great! please upload the whole songs somewhere - all RH fans want to hear the song - it sounded like some good stuff. Also - please keep the tape away from the drainboard...........
When I've seen him singing live over thirty times, I think it's fairly safe to say I know his voice when I hear it. I'll grant there are similarities between this and OAF's Happy Song, but there are many extreme differences.
this song and more are now on youtube! go search for radiohead 1986 klootme has been posting the songs! rejoice!
