  • Painful. I had Some kind of heart segery when I was, I don't remember 1 or 2.

  • i was operated last march 20, 2010 open heart surgery. i thank God for keeping me safe until now. God is always good and gracious.

    thanks for the post...

  • so, the ribcage is permanently open?

  • Open heart surgery is a very normal procedure these days. stick with salads and a high fiber diet and quit your job if you work in a cubicle. and exercise hard.

  • um that was good untill the bone cutting

    nuhh

  • I was okay up until the bone saw part! Ouch!

  • I have to get this same surgery in a couple of months and I'm only a 16 year old girl... Now in officially scared

  • @Ashee9955 You will be fine! I had open heart surgery when I was 16, im 26 now. They will take good care of you at the hospital, they will make sure you have medication so you dont feel any pain when you wake up. If you have any questions let me know and i might be able to help :)

  • This is an open heart surgery, I had it 6 years ago for my atrial septal defect and now I feel wonderful and happy since I was already old (30 years) and I was starting to have a lot of problems, specially with my lungs. To be healthy is to be rich!

  • They were sawing the ribcage to get access to the heart

  • So like.... did she drill that heart open?!

  • WHAT AM I WATCHING?!

  • Trained butchers

  • is the blade heated?

  • @belnap005 nop , that's a laser

  • @sabah2177 That's not a laser, it's an electrocauterizing hand-piece. It heats and burns the tissue with electricity using a current of over 100,000 Hz. It's effectively electrocuting the patient, but because the frequency is so high, there are no effects on the nerves (i.e. convulsions), as you would see in a normal electrocution.

  • @belnap005 It is heat yes, but it's not a blade, and it's definitely not a laser. It's called diathermy, a way of cutting tissue and simultanous sealing off blood vessels using a heated "blade" which is really just a stick of metal.

  • okay so why does it look like they are cutting some saran wrap covered surface rather than skin?

  • @iluvvsmp2 Because they cover the skin in a thin film of plastic material beforehand, after having previously sterilised the skin with iodine, to minimise the risk of infection.

  • ah good... nice clean cutting....

    1:06 WTF!

  • @TechyDan they obviously cut the bone with power saw xD

  • :O im gonna have nightmares

  • I have had 4 heart surgeries. 2 where they opened the chest, sack up and deal with it haha! Great scars/ stories the rest of your life!

  • @Glocking no response. must have not made it.

  • sucks to be that guy

  • I have not had this surgery myself but have spoken to some who have. They tell me the pain is not so bad as you would think. They all said it was much less than expected. I hope you will have the same experience.

  • They will open mine in 2 weeks.... On Monday 28. Juni 2010. Can anybody tell me if the pain is bearable, afterwards, when you are awake again in the recovery room or the IC room?

  • OMG! that is digusting!

  • so thats how they are going to open mine!! oh god please be with me please!!
