  • Turbocor is the brand name from Danfoss. They invented the compressor and it is a wonderful design. Daikin McQuay designed a higher mass flow compressor that is used in our chillers over 400 tons. We just released the 700 version a few weeks ago. It containing one centrifugal compressor and one motor with an external refrigerant cooled VFD as standard.

  • Who invented the Turbocor...................hey that would make a good name for a compressor brand don't you agree

  • McQuay releases this chiller in a 700 ton version June 9, 2011

  • The compressor rotor backup bearings support the Turbocor rotor when power is off. The larger McQuay compressor on the WME chiller has the same support.

  • I did a big presentation on the turbo-core chillers back in college. (I have a B.S. in Engineering).

Just a quick question because I've forgotten... Does the compressor rotor assembly rest on the magnetic bearing surface when not in use?

  • Trane is so far behind in chiller technology, it's not even worth discussing.

  • How would they control thrust movement on this machine? It would have to match the load properly and be taken care of. It looks like a surge would push the shaft through the end bell ..lol

  • Trane should have bought into turbo-core when they had the chance :(

  • @tohellwithit1 you're right

  • I am here saying hello

  • The chiller performs well above 75F Condenser Water temperature.

  • This technology is a great push in the right direction. It's too bad this thing is such at dog whenever you have warmer than 75 degree condenser water though.
