I was shocked when I watched this ep the first time. They didn't compare much DNA markers. There is more to races than just skin color. There is skull shape, teeth properties (softness and hardness), hair color, muscles, etc. Everyone should be treated equally but genetically, we are not equal. Race is the archaic term for subspecies, it is used extensively in scientific literature pre 1960. Later the term subspecies replaced race. Seems like a lot of work to properly read into that research. For one I have many questions with the populations they used. Also in their discussion they mainly seem to agree with me. I of course don't deny the presence of certain genetic factors in certain populations, e.g. sickle-cell and whatnot.
But are you really keeping in mind that the common use of race in humans reflects to people thinking they are a different 'species' of human? With different skills and abilities.

Race is the archaic term for subspecies, it is used extensively in scientific literature pre 1960. Later the term subspecies replaced race. Subspecies can interbreed, but because of common ancestry, differ phenotypicaly and contain a common genetic markers. It's pretty damn obvious, even a child can see it, in this case your eyes don't lie. You can even see races in honey bees.

These differences were not included in the originally modeled data and are a separate test regarding the environments effects on a human being. Also they are easily refuted, a person of any races raised under harsh conditions becomes a harsh person. Skin and phisiological features are adaptations which represent no big amount of genetic difference whatsoever (How much genetic difference can you get in 60000 years?). Race is a cultural phenomenum, naturally ocurring as a preservation instinct of your closer relatives group.

If you mean on a superficial level, I would agree. White people can produce more vitamin D than black people because of the melanin levels. However, different races don't have special abilities that others don't.

Also although FBI statistics show that most violent crimes involve others of same race, there is a common misconception that crimes by black people against white people are more common. Finally your arguement seems to suggest that black men are routinely raping random white women when in fact most rape victims are raped by people they know.

In USA, black men rape almost 40 000 white women every year. In contrast, the number of opposite cases is so low that stats of this sort are not available.

It's shown that a majority of violent crimes are intraracial, and even if that statistic is true that's out of 130,000 reported rapes a year. What about white men who rape white women? What does the amount of black men raping white women have to do with ANYTHING? It doesn't. It's just another 'excuse' for racism. If that statistic is true it's not going to make me fear or not like black men being a white girl.

Those in poorer neighborhoods are more likely to commit crimes, especially violent ones, and with the history of our country the majority of poor are 'minorities' but it doesn't mean that it's specifically their race that makes them that way. When you're in a poor neighborhood, you get a bad education (usually), therefore no scholarships for colleges, no money for college, therefore most of the time, no success.

The facts in the info for this page are misleading, because though you may be able to predict race at %100 accuracy as you use more dna markers as your guide, you can't use your eyes to see very many levels of dna. The things we use to determine "race" are outward appearances- controlled by only a few genes. Which is why they only used 7 in the test. To simulate what you would be able to tell by just looking at someone.

One thing most Biologists and Geneticists will not touch is whether or not behavior is to some degree genetic. And if so, to what degree. Is there REALLY a link between asians and good math skills? Between Blacks and athletics ...or violence? Any dog breeder will tell you that different breeds tend to have different behavior yet dogs are still dogs. I don't see how humans would be different. Its not to justify any immorality or "racism" but would it not advance our understanding?

Comparing human behavior with dog behavior is inaccurate, dogs have too unnatural an evolutionary history (thanks to us)to make for a good comparison.
Dog behavior may range slightly by breed, but those behaviors were consciously selected for. There is no such breeding program for the entire human race(hopefully).

Then humans too, would have an unnatural evolutionary history over the last 10,000 years or so. Some societies were very martial, others more intellectual, an so forth. Human behavior is also selected based on what a society grants as desirable marrying traits. I think it is folly to assume that only environmental factors affect only physical traits. Nye's program about addiction gets into this, why alcoholics are "selected" to survive, for example.
