Yep, when people make co0mparisons of their righteousness against condemnations of man which fairly ends up being sin as basically we make judgements based on the knowledge of good and evil which according to Genesis 3 is the very ideal of sin and rebellion. I'm against Rick Warren's teachings because the bible, like every religious text before or after it, is full of mysticism and fantasy. The bible is not "the truth" or "the way", it is merely a text, like any other from the ancient world, written to instruct and teach. Religion served its purpose as a means of promoting civility and social cohesion but the time has passed to discard it just as one would any other useless relic.

Part of loving people is telling them the hard truth, that they have sinned, fallen short of the glory of God(Romans 3:23), desperately need a Savior(Jesus)(Galatians 2:16;Galatians 3:10), and need to repent (Acts 3:19). There is no other Way by which man can be saved (John 14:6)(Acts 4:12).

What about the end of that story when Jesus says to the woman, "Go and sin no more" (John 8:10-11)? Jesus didn't JUST accept them where they were at, He changed lives, He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10)(1John 3:8), not to bring peace on earth but a sword (Matthew 10:34)...Check your theology Rick...For yours and everyone else's sake, we can't be spreading lies about Christianity.

Rick Warren is where the United Methodists and all the Mainlines were in the fifties/sixties. They didn't ditch salvation through Christ until later. But an obsession with social issues leads to a rejection of the Gospel eventually. The key is not to get sidetracked by the social issues and I'm not sure who has started down that road and did not.
