I'm not saying that George Bush didn't go after terrorists but to ignore facts and blindly say the "he kept us safe" is a fallacy too egregious to let slip by. And if I remember correctly, it was a war on terrorism. Not just Al Qaeda but all terrorists, including the domestic ones. And, also, instances of terrorism worldwide actually went up (including many "major" attacks) after 9/11.

Small pinpoint strikes that target small groups. That's a hell of a lot more of a deterrent than large clumsy military operations that bankrupt us in the end.
And Bush didn't get the USS Cole bombers, Osama Bin Laden, the anthrax attackers, or even the shoe bomber (passengers and crew got that guy).

They made a comeback because they saw HOPE and CHANGE coming. Under Bush, combat and intelligence expanded to the monster it is today. The citizens of Iraq and Afgan began helping us. KSM capture lead to Osama and Zarqawi was killed and Hussain and his sons and hundreds of other top leaders.
