  • It's equivelent to a slice of the goods in the world atm - but the more slices there are the more we cut up the world, the less money is worth. Fiat currency lets us buffer the storm by altering the money supply when times change. tying money to the aggregate of useful resources would be great yet difficult. I thought money tried to do that anyway, albeit unsuccessfully. Tying it to one thing like gold, limits response to changes in that comodity's abundance and in the economy as a whole.

  • Inspiring, scary, insightful-- thanx for sharing : )

  • YOUR PLANTS

  • Gold really aint much but has never been tried out do its full potential.

Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal in the world.

Gold is very conductive, following copper and silver.

It has value but overrated My view is that nothing is perfect. There will never be an Utopia to fix all currencies.

Metals work good enough for me. I would be arrogant to say I could put value on the environment itself. It invaluable.

  • If you don't put a value on it, you'll never know what you're losing..

I agree that there will never be a utopia, not by our human definition anyway.

This is a holistic analysis, things like malleability, ductility, conductivity etc. Are all qualities that only matter to human beings, and are therefore of little value in a holistic world where we represent a biological minority.

  • where would you start on making the values.

I am kinda gettin what ur sayin.

I believe as humans we should embrace technology. Its simply the application of science. I dont know

    im lost :(

  • That is a great question, I think that the first step involves simply observing the ecosystem and collecting more information on how it functions as a whole. Then using a global computer network, this data could be analyzed to distill a kind of ecological process value index.

Such a thing would only be possible utilizing technology, so needless to say I also think that we should embrace it, excluding only the things that threaten us and the ecology.

  • We all know that our financial system as of now is laughable at best. Your goal is to reach an ecologically based currency. Could you at least agree with me that we should take a 'step' up and put into some metal (base or precious). At least the supply wouldn't be artificially created. What to you think? We should at least leave the current system we have.

  • I do agree that a "gold standard" would be superior to any form of fiat currency, at least for the short-term. But I am also certain that for any kind of long-term viability our currency needs to be based on something integral to our survival. This is the only way I can think of to effectively link our economic activity with our holistic well being. This prevents our currency from working against our interests.

  • The thing about CH4 or methane while being one of the first compounds in the history of the universe, it turns out to be the carbon precursor to life, and the best possible fuel because it gives off CO2 when burned. It gives off more pure H2O and less CO2 than any other hydrocarbon fuel. It is probably both food and a waste product for different kinds of microbial life. H2 flows better than CH4 but as it happens it can leak easily and disperse rapidly. CH4 should be advanced in new ways.

  • Combustion is a widely misappropriated chemical reaction, utilizing consumable fuels for energy production and locomotion does not make much sense given the plethora of alternatives that are both more efficient, reliable, and renewable.

While I'm still open to other possibilities, in the final analysis it seems relatively clear that the days of "burning" things to create energy and propulsion are coming to an end.

  • Ethane might be near to methane, but methane is by far the better fuel. There is nothing as good as methane. It should be recognize that it can be use to generate electricity and heat simutaneously and the heat can be diverted to a heat sink or insulated water tank. This eliminates the need for centralized electric power plants, since heat and electric are generated together. I understand that pnematic drves can work in cars as well as electric. This would charge E cars at home.

  • This disregards the holistic values of this type of physically intensive fuel and the infrastructure required to manage and utilize it. Suggesting that heat be diverted implies that the process is inherently wasteful. In the near future this kind of mentality won't be acceptable, power will need to be produced on demand and precise in energy conversion terms; only electricity generated in the most efficient manner will be able to fulfill these qualifications.

  • There will always be fires, but what we want is the cleanest possible burn. Biomass seems like an answer. i have not studied it very much yet. There will be a good deal of dysinformation and misinformation in energy dogma. You cannot do better than the best you can do. This means methane.

  • I disagree. Fire is an obsolete technology from a former era, due to the extreme pollution and waste involved in fuel production, transportation, storage and consumption makes it totally unfeasible for 21st century civilization.

  • i don't know what you think you are going to replace fire with... Forest fires maybe... Grass fires, home fires? Fire will be obsolete when the earth becomes obsolete then when all life is gone for good. Methane is the best combustible fuel because it burns clean and can now be compress. It is also the best fuel because it can be produced as a biomass product. It is also the best fuel to produce electric power and heat. Try an argument agains that. What planet are you from?

  • I was only talking about human created fires. Naturally occurring fires will of course always be around.

Once again what you are not considering is the holistic cost of combustion, which is why it has become obsolete in comparison to superior alternatives like solar and electrical for both heat, power and locomotion. Electric is 90% efficient for these process and moves close to the speed of light. Fuel is 20% efficient and requires complex infrastructure to store and transport.

  • This is probably not my invention, but if methane is used for electric generation in proximity to a place that is going to or can use the waste heat for heating. In the future you may well see most houses with a heating/power plant will include heat reservoirs or insulated water tanks from which Elec generation stored heat can be extracted. I would like to see much ice stored in insulated tanks as well for cooling in summer.

  • people becoming addicted to fear and become paranoid.. i like this idea its kinda hard to impliment

  • It isn't necessarily a failure in judgement on the part of the banks. After all, their bad debts just get passed on to the taxpayers. Meanwhile they had a good run of profitable years.

  • I'm not sure I know what you're saying. Profit is the only point of banks? But who is profiting? The shareholders? The same people who trust the banks with their money? Robbing Peter to pay Paul, and tanking the economy in the process, how is that good judgment?

  • There is nothing on this planet we can't solve. It is our minds that are being controlled to create fear to give the elite control over the human race. Fear is going to get you the RFID Chip in your body. The everyday person does not realize the whole world is just one big matrix of control and these problems are created to keep you fearful thus more easily controlled. Come on people is it so hard to see the truth? No oil, not live stock, no coal, and allow free energy to surface.

  • Assuming that what you've said is true, there is still the reality of the world in its present state, and that will not be undone easily. Personally I am not so much afraid as I am offended by how unimaginative most people are. Only better ideas have the power to transform the sad reality humans have written themselves into.

  • The human is in a fight for the control of his own mind. Better ideas have been around for sometime now but supressed to keep us in financial bondage. I totally agree with your feelings about the lack of imagination that exist in people today.

  • Yeah what all those guys said above me, LOL!. But really man, those people you said have no integrity does not mean all of them had none, some of them were nieve and it was the banks who didn't care if they were able to pay the loans back or not.

  • Thanks for bringing this up. I thought more about this particular point after I made the video. Predatory loans. I guess in those instances it's the banks that have no integrity! Still, people should not be taking out loans without understanding them, that's just stupid!

  • Interesting idea - but how does it work in more practical terms? What ecological factors would we pin the value of this currency to? It's a very interesting idea, though, to give us all a very literal stake in the health of the world.

  • Great question. I think it also makes sense to ask: what do we really know about the current health of the ecosystem, in relation to human activity? We do know a lot about what we're doing wrong, so that's where I would start; creating initiatives to counteract and reverse the damage that's already been done, and base the value of the currency on their measurable success. It's really just a better, saner version of carbon credit, which is already in use.

  • Dude... raise your webcam... you cut your head off.

This idea about eco-money... it is HORRIBLE.

  • It's cut off on purpose.

And, please explain why the idea is "HORRIBLE".. that's pretty vague.
