  • Thanks for the info man ! Appreciated.

  • Since you are a nurse now I'm sure you probably learned the importance of sterilization. I just wanted to point out for your safety that if you go through all that trouble sterilizing your skin and let your shirt down and let your shirt touch the skin you just sterilized...your skin is no longer sterile. So try pinning up your shirt or tucking it under your arm so nothing touches the sterile area before you administer the Desferal.

  • ahaxxx!!fun parts..yeah~the needle is the fun parts~

  • Hey Navdeep,

Can u please share your contact details, ur E-mail id and if possible ur on FB

  • Thnx alot Navdeep.. i've just started on Desferal treatment,, yesterday was my first inection, it went allright.. the pump is different, no batteries, pums 5m/h, and it's in for 12 hours a day.

once again thnx for the info.

  • how old r u now? where can i get the type of desferal machine that you're using? thanks =)

  • @SimonAntonioIsmail I'm 25 now....the pumps you have to get from a Home Infusion Company that your Insurance Company is working with.....it is possible to give the medicine without a pump. My doctor said you can just inject half the medicine in the morning....put in fridge....12 hours later inject the half.....I haven't tried that though. Hope all is well.

  • @SorceryX im from maldives and we dont get those here in maldives. my girlfriend is a thalassemia major and she takes desferal 5-7 nights a week. shes been using the pump that she has now for couple of years and i just thought of getting a new one for her. i checked around the web and found the new type of pump called crono. but i prefer to get the type tht u have. if theres anyway tht u could find me one of those i could transfer the money to you for the pump and to ship it to maldives. thanks

  • what other locations can u put the desferal? i am restarting it after many years and i have kinda forgotten how it all goes.

  • @sujiterz You can give it anywhere you have subcutaneous tissue....

I have never poked my legs....I'm a nurse now and give my patients their insulin the same way....in the belly or the underarm fat. When I was little, my dad used to poke my back. Glad you're restarting! =)

  • i do mine the same way!

    hee~

    im from malaysia~

    good~

  • thank you very much this is so useful

  • Nice illustration of desferal infusion. As you may know that Oral Chelation is now available (Exjade/Asunra) so ask your doctor and u might be saved from poking needle to yourself. Good luck!

  • :) brave boy

  • Great job!

  • Wow, thanks for enlightening me with that. I have alpha thalassemia but not major. I didn't know it was that much work compared to the quick in & out needles like diabetics.

  • Great Job Navdeep!!!

    your fellow nursing student,

    Maya
