  • I am singing this song in my highschool men's choir. I wanted to look up a final product and right now I can't wait to hear how we will do at festival. I attend Green Valley Highschool which I was told is famouse for it's choir. I really hope we can be as good as this men's choir so wish us luck!

  • I was a student of David Childs back when he was the music director for Havelock North High School, NZ. The year was 1998, he composed this for the all female choir "Voix du Femme" and I had the privilage of playing the piano part.

  • the vowels on "eyes" and "paradise" were to wide, and the hand movement was quite distracting but they did a wonderful job other than that! : )

  • @Ninjaed16 *sigh* Regarding movement, please refer to the comment I posted a couple of months ago. The movement certainly wasn't a problem for the adjudicators who gave the choir the highest rating at the festival. Vowels---do you mean that the vowels are too tall or spread when you say "to wide"?

  • @StMarysChoirs I agree with you about having movement but if it was more together and at the same amount of movement. And listening to this again I think its just that the vowels were ok but I heard "eye" instead of "eyes" many time and "paradahhh" instead of "paradise" but it wasn't a huge thing. They deserved the highest ranking because all together they did wonderful.

  • @Ninjaed16 I completely disagree about the vowels

  • Beautiful rendition of this piece. I have to say that I can see where the hand movement where very helpful during the rehearsal...They should have not been included during a performance. They are a little distracting from the rest of the mood set by the choir.

  • Why would your choral director react in such a manner for showing expression in your music? Pianists do it, as well as violinists and other instrumentalists. Who decided that vocalists must stand perfectly still? Certainly popular singers don't.

  • Way too many hand movement. If my choral director saw me doing that, he would jump at me and beat me to death, lol.

  • @Pratoreus87 Some directors have each vocalist direct themselves, which has an enormous effect on the sound and color of the group, but draws from the visual expression.

  • Hauntingly beautiful!

  • i was not a big fan of the hand movements. i thought it took away from the music. other than than wonderful tone, and blend. great job guys

  • Beautiful rendition! I did this with my Treble Choir a few years ago. Congrats!
