  • Great review. One other thing, the small letter "Q" wich is directly above F# 1, (lower octave) controls whether a not the pitch will is quantized.. If this is off, any movement on the keyboard surface will make the pitch drift around accordingly. Clik this "Q" to be able to sustain normal notes!

My only critisism of your demo is that patch was driving me nuts after awhile, the arpeggiated one. I would have like you to show more sounds because this baby can make them!

  • @goofparade LOL a fair criticism. I had a killer patch designed for the demo, but forgot to save it and accidentally hit that fucking patch-change arrow while jamming out on the X/Y. What you're hearing was mostly default stuff that I used in a pinch. I set deadlines for myself to keep on-task with my various projects and I was coming up on one when I recorded this. I am prioritizing the patch selection a lot more now, as you hear in the videos after this, like the one for Grainbender.

  • Really cool app, and all the synth need some time to understand ;-)

Just take a look at massive or fm8 to see if it's easier ...

  • Man is this better then the FL Studio Mobile?

  • @100DUE It is hard to make the comparison to FL Studio Mobile, since that is a full studio (multiple instruments) vs Addictive which is 1 instrument. I personally don't like FL Studio Mobile since there is no way to tweak any of the instruments for interesting sound design, but I would recommend it for people who just want to get into making music fast and mobile. Addictive is better suited to people who like to do mobile sound design and make wild sounds.

  • @Discchord Thanks much!! I was apparently having the same trouble as others with the app. I did the recommended workaround and now I'm getting sounds. Now I can get down to business. The rest I can learn through trial and error.

    Thanks much again!

  • @aSimplePotter Nice! Thanks for letting me know, I'm glad to hear it. Have fun!

  • @Discchord....BTW the volume button on the iPad doesn't work with this app. Is that according to design? And again, how do you load a patch? Where's the Preset button? When I hold down a key on the virtual keyboard, a small green vertical bar jiggles up and down as if a sound is being generated even though there's no sound. What's up with that? BTW I followed your directions re: relaunching, but to no avail.

  • @aSimplePotter It seems to be related to the mute/screen orientation lock button. There are two people, in that link, with the same issue you had. Did you bind mute to orientation lock? They fixed it by rebinding the button to mute, then unmuting. They were then able to go back to binding it for orientation lock, and the app still worked.

  • @Discchord I'm not even sure how to access the presets. With no tutorial how is one to know? By the same token, how would one load a "patch" as advised? To someone like me who's not familiar with the jargon/terms, it all sounds like another language. Don't get me wrong. I very much appreciate your attempt to help but you're assuming too much. You're going to have to talk "dummy" talk, if I'm to understand you. Why are there no tutorials or manual to this thing?

  • @aSimplePotter In the bottom right you'll see the X/Y Pad, directly above that is the button for presets. Hitting that should bring up a list menu with lots of silly names. Select: 10 - Pseudo Analog and you've got a solid preset to play with.

Though judging my your next comment, I think you may be encountering a more serious issue. I just checked the VirSyn support forum and they have a fix: virsyn(dot)net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB(dot)pl?num=1311545017

    Replace the (dots) with .

  • "...modulating your patch to no volume"? I have no idea what you're talking about so I'm obviously in over my head. I think I'll just delete it, write off the money as a lesson well earned, and move on. Thanks for your time.

  • @aSimplePotter You may be, but you could still have a lot of fun with the presets that come with it. There are a lot of good ones in there.

  • How does it work? I can't get it to produce any sound for me. Is there a volume button somewhere that I'm not aware of? Does it have to have a midi device connected to it to produce a sound? If so then what's the virtual keyboard for?

  • @aSimplePotter With great modulation comes great responsibility; there are a few ways you could be modulating your patch to no volume. Try loading up a few of the default patches. If none of those are sounding try relaunching the app. Single press your Home button to close the app, then Double-tap your home button to bring up the Multitask task bar. Hold down on the Addictive icon until you get a - (or X) badge on the icons, then click that to hard-kill it. Hope that helps!

  • Thx, this is a fun app. I haven't launched Logic all day because I'm so engrossed in this app.
