i love the description! and i love the fact that you put this video up even though it was so personal to you. The footage is incredible, I cant even imagine what it must have been like first hand for you. Amazing. Love the background music that fits perfectly with this majestic creature. Thank you for sharing
It's now 2012 and the Japanese whaling madness continues. Thank you to Sea Shepherd for all their dedication and hard work. Thank you for this video!!!
Cool. Someone makes an awesome recording of some whale song, and then someone else goes and fucking plays a piano over the top of them. It may as well be death metal. Ruined!
There was absolutely no sound from this whale during my encounter. Turn your mute button on and you have the real experience. Simple enough and you don't have to ruin your day.If you want just the whales sounds I have recorded, there are plenty of those soundtracks on this same site with just a static image of a whale. These are done with a hydrophone lowered 30 feet into the water and the whale was nowhere in sight. Happy now?
@elsa230503 My issue is not with the video. It's beautiful. Yes, there are many other recordings of whales on here, but this specific recording of whales, which is mixed in with the piano, is amazing. I'd love to hear that without the piano. The best recordings of whales on here are bad quality or have music over the top. I'm sorry I was an arsehole about it. You didn't deserve that.
Yes, it is astonishing and a lot more. I still haven't seen an encounter between a whale and a human that has the same intense quality, a prolonged and close attempt at bridging the gap between two species. This whale has never been recorded anywhere else except in the middle of the ocean in Bermuda, despite his friendly behavior. I still wonder what he was doing and thinking for the two hours he remained with me fifteen miles off Bermuda.
Wow, what a beautiful experience! I got goose bumps when I see it. How amazing… Beautiful creatures! I love them!
I’m pretty sure that your feeling after this close up must be magnificent.
I don’t know so much about whales but maybe the whale shows that it trust you when it turns his front to you. I mean he show you the part where he is vulnerable and he doesn’t see you. I think it’s a good sign =)
I'm much more curious to know if the humpbacks meet up with blue whales or gray whales during migration? Humpbacks are not loners..they are very inquisitive marine mammal..
The oceans and the whales take me away...I had a dream...I was over the North Pacific Ocean..The Humpbacks lined up nose to tail and spelt out the words.."I Love God."on the surface of the water.I spoke out load, twice,I love God,and each time I said it,the Spirit of God,entered my heart. So beautiful and spiritual.God loves all of His creation.Save the whales,please.........................
this is some of the best whale footage I have seen. how anyone can watch these creatures and not feel the immense gentle energy they give off. We waste the joy of the earth when they are hunted for no reason.
it is more than facinating i can't find words to describe their beauty they are so beautifull and brilliant creatures i love all the animals but i love whales and dolphins more than any other creature
it is more than facinating i can't find words to describe their beauty they are so beautifull and brilliant creatures i love all the animals but i love whales and dolphins more than any other creature
Whales have a magic to them...theyre talking reminds me of their majesty. They are a great animal, large and mighty, they are the protectors of the sea. Like...giant collosal overseers.
i know how to speak whale......if u wanna know how to speak whale ask doris. she is a wise wise wise blue fish with a short term memory loss. hmmmm come to think of it i saw her in tv. but forgot what film.......lol
Watching this video has made me decide when I get married, my honeymoon will be at a place where my husband and I can go whale watching. It will be unforgettable.
all whales and dalphins are the most stunning it's a shame there are being killed every day for other people to eat it breaks my heart that we are not protecting them or teaching others to leave them alone let them be in there own space.
@SuperAly32 What about if there's a group of people up north where if they catch one of these whales they can eat for months, and there may not be another chance to get something to eat because wildlife is so scarce. I don't mind the killing of animals if it has a solid reason, natives up north hunt whales for food, clothes and a plethora of different resources. I obviously don't support the killing of these animals for minimal gains, as im sure most of the time it is.
@thespartan65535 Im not gonna flame you lol, but what i think people including myself enjoy (about other animals as well) is the peacefullyness and gracefullness of the animals. they just flow through the water looking so relaxed and poised. Well, believe it or not, our Jack Russell falls asleep when hearing the humpback music/songs. Specially this video: she watches them on-screen and goes asleep straight away, which is otherwise a real big hassle.
@FollowYouTilYouLuvMe They're not in danger of extinction, even though before the 60s they were reduced by 90% worldwide, they've recovered quite well and there are probably around 80-100.000 in all the world's oceans. So they're doing alright. This is probably the most interesting whale due to the songs it makes, we even sent a record of its song into space in a probe, hoping one day some other civilization from far, far away will hear its song ^.^
@FollowYouTilYouLuvMe The blue whales have it bad. They were reduced by 99% of their population from what i've heard. In the North Atlantic, there's only about 600-1000 left. In the southern hemisphere, it's really a guess, but there's atleast 2000. Maybe up to 5000. The official worldwide on wikipedia states its between 5k-12k but it's an underestimate. They were hunted close to extinction and are endangered. You're welcome btw, i've read alot about these subjects on various internet sites.
@FollowYouTilYouLuvMe They're the most protected whale species in the world. There's not much people can do but leave them alone and hope for the best - the problem is, they've been left alone for 40 years now and they're not recovering. The over-hunting might have been too much. As for what you can do, I suppose you can sign that bill travelling around on the internet protesting about Obama's decision to back commercial whaling. It would be a step in the right direction.
laying back, closing my eyes and just listening makes me wonder why we burden ourselves with so much responsibility, it truly is amazing and I'd love to experience it first hand.
yeah, the japanese whale hunters are gonna make these animals extinct. I want to see a whale for once in my life. (im 16, I never saw a whale before) :(
humpback whales are now endangered thanks to humans that act like barbarians killing 1400 of whales every year which is a lot considering how much are left. Can't believe killing whales is still legal in a lot of part in the world.
Just more evidence that the Japanese are worthless, heartless, souless bags of human crap. As far as I am concerned, they didn't get nearly as much of a tsunami as they derserve. Save the whales. Screw Japan.

humpback whales are now endangered thanks to humans that act like barbarians killing 1400 of whales every year which is a lot considering how much are left. Can't believe killing whales is still legal in a lot of part in the world.

Just more evidence that the Japanese are worthless, heartless, souless bags of human crap. As far as I am concerned, they didn't get nearly as much of a tsunami as they derserve. Save the whales. Screw Japan.
