There are so many songs out there that are covers that nobody relalizes that they are covers. For years Nazareth Love Hurts nobody relalized it was a cover but it is the best version of that song. And almost all of George Thorogoods covers are better than the originals. The rest i agree with just enjoy them for what they r.

Well, I guess on those grounds you can be correct. Zeppelin for example, has so many "covers" it's unreal; half the money they made goes to Willie Dixon haha.

Metallica covers are generally better than their original counterparts, unless they're covering Motorhead. For some reason they can't do Motorhead well.

Dream Theater's got good covers.

So yeah I guess you're right, BUT, the main point was to just enjoy the covers for what they are and not pine over the original.

I agree, completely. Of course, most of the time it really won't live up to the original. The people who wrote the songs knew best how they were done, exactly what amount of power needed to be put into it right down to the iota, and all that stuff. A cover version is, at best, an extremely GOOD knockoff.

It's as you said though, if they like the original better, that's the one they should listen to and not bombard their ears with the music and our eyes with the comments.
