  • I hate reading about rock fans complaining about guitarists. It's Rock 'N' Roll! Not the fucking Vatican...

  • crazy thing bout ozzy is his shit sounds just as good as his albums, if not better, salute, hats off to the man!!!

  • Where is Rhoads

  • I bet brad yanked the whammy bar all over those parts because he didn't completely learn the solos.

  • Ozzy and Crowley are both sick guys

  • He is so obviously not singing !

Overdubs in the studio... too bad.

  • Sharon's probably got 'em locked up in her purse along with Ozzy's sack!

  • Damn Where are the good recordings like this with Randy? what a shame

  • Not bad at all. Nice recording.

  • I actually think Gillis did a great job. If I were trying to step into Randy's shoes, I would be shitting my pants. RIP Randy (and Delores of course)

I played Dee for my year12 music performance major along with Master of Puppets

    Long live Rock and Metal!!!

  • @Vamphetamine Good job with choosing Dee and MoP. Both excellent pieces respectively. Hope you impressed, which I'm sure you did.

  • brad is no randy but hes not terrible, the guy can jam ozzy doesnt pick bad guitarist.

  • You all need to smoke some pot.

  • Brad Gillis is very good! He learnt al Ozzy's setlist from the "Tribute To Randy" live in like a week!

  • Brad Gillis is one of the best musicians that ozzy had. And personally i believe he is the best guitarist that ozzy had after randy for a lifetime. Brad has a very unique sound his own style. just have fun. don't get stressed while listening to this great song.

  • I cant believe the bickering about "Brad" vs "Randy" on here...c'mon...lets get this straight....Brad did a commendable job, learning the entire tour setlist in a matter of days...and great soloing..yes, heavy on the whammy at times, but he has a unique approach to it...Randys playing stands immortal and fits perfectly for these tunes but realize he wrote the original parts and his classical / metal style fits like a glove....and props to Zakk, although not my favorite, a very good player!

  • Comment removed

  • brad gillis is badass

  • um wrong asshole! zakk is not alright, hes the best fuckin guitarist ozzy had since randy rhoads, to bad ozzy just fired him!

  • Brad Gillis blows Zak out of the fucking water. You probably don't even know who he is.

  • Randy is irreplaceable! Brad Gillis was suitable and worthy to play in Randy's place. Jake E Lee was also great. Zakk is all right. Zakk is good but he's not great.

  • @Treachery93 i haven't heard anything jake plays come close to book of shadows...and i'm a jake fan...zakk nails that shit time after time...jelousy is an ugly thing...

  • randy was supposed to be playing =[

  • No because he died in a plane crash on March 19, 1982

  • C'mon everybody have a good time for fuck sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Priceless

  • I didnt read yours morans posts (=not you), i just get more drunk and listen this fuc****ng heavy music so Fuck**** LOUD!!!

    Srrew you whiners...

  • Randy Rhoads and Jake E Lee rule!!!! The rest sucks!!!

  • ..stoned.

  • d00d me t00 ^_^

  • Ozzy fail at 4:04

no one wanted him to do that

  • lol

  • Oz has a really nice wig here!

  • ozzy was high as a kite there

  • Thank you, Captain Obvious! If Ozzy was awake he was high, come on, man.

  • no. actually ozzy wasent high here. in fact, cuz of randy's death, he sobered up for a few shows (like this one) then went right back to being high as a kite lol

  • Didn't not like the way he played the outro at all, I'm glad Ozzy found Jake

  • I agree! Too bad things didn't work out for Ozzy and Jake. I LOVED Jake E. Lee! In my opinion, UNLIKE Zakk and the BORING Joe Holmes, Jake had CHARISMA, PRESENCE, and FLASHYNESS.

  • brad is great, the best as far as tremolo using.

    RIP Randy.

  • indeed! i thought i was the only one who felt that way

brad was AMAZING on this tour

  • Ozzy is a god among men.

  • i acually put this version on my ipod not knowing it was brad, i thought is was randy, brad does a great job.

  • I think Speak Of The Devil is one of his best albums. Brad Gillis took those Sabbath tunes to a different level.

  • It's coming to light with the passage of time. I find Brad and Tommy's rhythm work on these Sabbath tunes just off the fucking hook.

  • Of ALL the Ozzy concerts, THIS and the Bark At The Moon show are the ONLY Ozzy shows I watch.

  • Even micheal angelo batio plays mr crowley better in my opinion. But every one has his owen opinion some one liks brad some zakk but all of them are good But Randy is the Man

  • Even micheal angelo batio plays mr crowley better in my opinion. But every one has his owen opinion some one liks brad some zakk but all of them are good But Randy is the Man

  • They played No Bone Movies in this show but it didn't get released with this taping.

  • This isn't off the LP Speak of the Devil.. Ozzy only did Sabbath songs off of that album. What lp/album is this from? thanks

    Danyael

    ;-Demon

  • This is actually from the Japanese VHS of the SOTD tour of all Ozzy songs and not the Sabbath. I don't even know if it's still available.

  • @thephilth No its not. But amazon still has it.

  • I want to say I saw a Chinese version of this album on vinyl with Mr. Crowley included. It also included some of the songs that he did on the SOTD tour. The album was going for a crazy amount of money so I didn't buy it.

  • Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!

  • i actually like Brad's sound. its better than Zakk Wylde and Jake E. Lee if you ask me. Of course no one plays it as best as the orignal creater, Randy Rhoads.

  • i love him, i love him, i love him....

  • really enjoyed Brad Gillis's take on RR's solos. nice variations and the whammy stuff is all in key, in time and also of its time cos it was the 80s when everyone was starting to give it a go. if you want to hear bad soloing on this tune listen to malmsteen's version.

  • Man JH9214,you think exactly what I do.

  • definitely man. he totally raped the solos

  • ONe of my favorite Ozzy ALbums

    Brad did a great job!!

  • i gotta admit though, for learning most of the songs under extreme pressure brad wasnt that bad

  • I have a lot of respect for Brad. So many people comment on Brad as if he was a poor guitarist. This guy learnt the whole set in a matter of days and performed it well everytime. He deserves more respect than these losers give him, i'd love to see them try and learn randys set in a matter of days

  • Brad did what he was hired for,he was actually buddies with randy, and they toured together,so Brad was in a way playing a tribute to his gone friend,so was the whole band.

  • it was a very tough job... if you remember, ozzy had a guy called bernie torme, i think, and he was scared to death, so nervous, he couldnt play, so ozzy took brad. he did a great job

  • very very good yeahhhhhhhhhh

    yeahh!!!! randy rhoads is big

  • wow! great collections of Crowly's photos.

  • look. brad gillis was under SO much pressure. think about what had just happened.he did an EXCELLENT job i think.he's no randy rhoads, but my god,the man had some balls, stepped in and did a hell of a job.all im sayin is give the man some credit.SOTD was not a bad album, even his sabbath covers were pretty solid. but i must say, night ranger sucks hahaha.

  • this is not speak of the devil tour, its diary of a madman,Brad did a great job

  • Brad lends his talents well. He did well for himself, stepping in for the band so they could fulfill contractual obligations. But a keen-eyed killer guitar he is not. Way too heavy on the trick licks.

  • You guys suck, this freakn rocks. SOD was the best Ozzy recording... by far

  • Icecube, pal asking Gillis not to use his trem is just like asking Zakk Wild not to use pinch harmonics. Its just a matter of style.

  • im not tellin him 2 not use it. all im sayin is for him 2 use it in the right time, not in parts where its not neccessary

  • he uses his trem too damn much. it gets annoying after a while, man

  • I think gillis was the best replacement for RR,would have been interesting to hear him in a studio record with ozzy

  • Sometimes, I think Gillis is even better than Randy Rhoads. Check out his solo guitar on Sentimental Street Of the Night Rangers

  • To all you people who can't let this be; RR and BG are 2 entirely different musicians: STOP TRYING TO COMPARE THE TWO!!!

  • @thephilth agreed!! too bad some people don't get it....i like both...guess i'm lucky that way!!

  • @thephilth No comparison Gillis sucked terribly.

  • @Trashfished, i mean no disrespect towards you but, saying Brad Gillis sucked terribly is not only asinine, but completely ignorant. I'm not a fan at all of that one band he was in, but I'm not gonna go out and say something like "he sucked terribly", that would be stupid of me. That's the same attitude people have when they say bands like Duran Duran sucked, when the fact is, they were phenomenal musicians! Take the blindfold off buddy and give it a rest.

  • @thephilth I see your point as I am NOT a musician. I guess I just remember that Speak of the Devil album. And at the time I thought Gillis was an odd choice and that he butchered Iommi and Rhoads songs. It seemed that album was hastily put together or something. Again I see your point. Party on dude!

  • @Trashfished I wish i sucked as terribly as Gillis does.

  • @RONDOC68 Well I sure hope your girfriend does!!! Party on dude!!

  • Gotta give him some credit, I mean come on, WHO was going to step into Randy's spot AND be able to pull it off without people ripping on him?? NOBODY is the answer, hell Brad did better than myself or anyone I know, we all know he's not Randy DUH

  • Brat Gillis is the best guitarrist ever, of course, after Randy Rhoads

  • Man, very good solo!!!

    But Randy was a GENIUS.

  • brad gillis va to ciego!

  • wow lip syncing

  • no it wasnt, it was harmonized. They took the track of his voice and harmonized to give a fuller sound

  • RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! RANDY!!! R.I.P RANDY RHOADS

F**KEN Gillis Messed the Song Up

  • Who would havw done it any better dude? I think Randy's solos, especially for the time this was made, were pretty far from being copied note for note on such a short learning curve as Gillis had, and for that short amount of time he does a kick ass job!!

  • I remember seeing this whole concert on MTV back when they had saturday night concerts. I got a dvd on Ebay of the same tour. Different show. Ozzy is wearing a blue shirt on my dvd. But I remember this same show he was wearing a red shirt on Mtv Saturday night concert. I would like to have a copy of this too:(

  • I agree there has to be good Randy footage out there. This was obviosly not someone with a camcorder. I cant imagine they just decided after Randy passed to start doing video of shows.

  • Is it possible that on the 25th anniversary of Randy's passing away Ozzy will finally give us what some people says it's been under lock and key all of these years? Please, Ozzy, release it. Don't be afraid of your performance; it's Randy who we want to see, in a decent footage that will finally make justice to the Biggest Little Guitar Player.

  • as far as I know, this footage has been been commercially available, has it? I knew it existed because MTV used to play an "Iron Man" clip from this show, but... this is great!

  • thats actually randys vest brad is wearing

  • I remember when this first came out. I wasn't in to Sabbath but Brad tore that shit up. It's cool to see it finnaly.

  • Where can I get this DVD??? To be honest with you, I was only familiar with Brad Gillis playing the old Sabbeth songs from the Speak of the Devil Album. This is the first time I'm hearing let alone SEEING him covering Randy's songs. Anymore videos from Speak of the Devil? I know MTV showed the video of a shorter version of Iron Man from the same concert.

  • Gillis does a damn fine job at giving his take on Randy's solo's.. the biggest thing is they came from 2 very different schools of learning, I think Brad handled it well for taking on such a big task

  • Hell yeah,he learned the songs in two weaks and played them with power, and did not rip off Randy Rhoads lick for lick. The other Ozzy guitarist played these songs weak and out of tune.

  • he did the job!! and he did it well!! guess he had only a matter of weeks to learn it! still he did a better job than people today trying to do randy rhoads's guitar parts.he must have have bollocks as big as mellons to take on the job though!!

  • O Yea There's Good Footage of Brad Gillis with the band But There's No Good Footage of Randy Playing Concert

all Of randy's Footage's on concert with the Band Is in Crappy Condition

  • Way to go Brad... big fan bro, and great job.

Randy would have been proud... but Randy Rhoads is, and will always be... THE MAN!

  • Brad Gillis

  • They got plenty of good footage of this wanker, where's the Holy Grail of Rhoads footage? It has to be out there...

  • brad gillis is fucking great.i mean the guy came in and played randys shit note for note when there wasn't really tab books.he did this shit by ear.true the whammy bar is annoying at times.he doesn't use it in a subtle way.he isn't joe or steve on the guitar.but he rocks

  • Everybody have a good time for fuck's sake!

  • Damn.... back when speak of the devil first came out... we all thought that Brad Gillis was out of this world. Now... it just seems like he was butchering Randy's masterpieces with that damn tremolo bar. Give me another dose of Jake -- quick before I throw up!!! JAKE E LEE IS THE FREAKIN MAN!!!!

  • Damn, these are great solos! What do you all have against them. He plays them in a wild way, and it's VERY cool...

  • brad gillis is a damb good guitarist but i dont like what he did to randys solos

  • the solo is too... too... i dont like it.

  • Not Randy...

  • Was There!

  • thats not an overdub. thats a harmonizer he's singing through

  • i like it cause my last names crowley

  • Yes...Brad was pretty much only a back up guitarist so he had very little time...like 5150ou812 said to learn the solos...due to the death of Randy Rhoads and Bernie Torme leaving the band..so when Torme left the band Ozzy called in Gillis to stand in as his guitarist!

  • Brad didn't have a lot of time to learn the solos so he just had to get the jist of them and do his own thing. besides in 1982 not many guitarists could do that shit yet and brad was just filling in

  • I like the solo myself... either way it's great to see classic ozzy footage!

  • Ozzy had to overdub everything even back then.

  • This is a textbook example of the ever-so-ubiquitous: How many guitarists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Only one- but it takes the rest of the guitar playing world to say they or someone they know can do it better!

  • The point here is Brad Gillis IS NOT RANDY RHOADS!!! They are both excellent guitarists, and no, I don't see that "whammy shit" as out of hand, it fit the song, I'm sure if it were Zakk Wylde we'd be seeing some 3rd fret squeal action here instead of Whammy Bar.

  • no one is disputing Brads ability as a guitarist all im saying is that a solo like that has to be played as it was written, sure rhoads plays a different version live thats because there is a harmony in it and he plays a version with one guitar to compensate for not having a second guitar to play the harmony another stroke of genuis by rhoads but the solo remains the same apart from that.

  • He should have done an off the cuff solo cause that blew. What really pisses me off is that they got such good footage of this retard and never got any good footage of randy. Anyways that whammy bar shit was way out of hand. But what can I say he got the part.

  • what a mortal sin for anyone to do that to rhoad's masterpiece solo

  • what are you talking about. I played this in a band forever and brad did a great job. can you even play the guitar. I guess not!

  • did a great job he fucked it up ozzy even threw him a dirty look when he started doin all that whammy shit

  • Brad played all the right notes. He only added a few of his trade mark licks. remember this is live no one not even randy played the exact same thing every night. If you have played live on a tour you would know what I am talking about. I think he did plenty of the real solo and then showed a little of himself which is what randy always did when he played live. he didn't always play his solos note for note. So I don't know why you expect the next guy to do it!

  • listen he fucked up the solo thats all there is too it he played a few of the notes that was it a solo like that u have to play that solo u cant play anything else thats just how it is im not taking away from the fact that brad isnt a good player just that a solo like that u cant play anything else!!!!

  • Tell me where Ozzy looks at him with a dirty look. Give me the exact frame with the time if your so smart. Have you ever heard Randy play this song live. He doesn't play it exactly like the record is my point. Nobody can replace Randy but you are being way over board on this issue. Try and respect another artist who is a great guitarist in his own right!

  • Pal, I really dont understand why you said Gillis did a whammy shit. Hes just as genius as a guitarrist as Randy was!!!

  • ozzy well always be the best and randy was a genious!

  • this brad gillis playing right now i think he is the biggest fag ever hes copies Randy Rhoads in the way he dresses

  • I have this on dvd

  • (In best Bill and Ted)

    Excellent!
