Mostly because while windows need more memory to run its caused by the laptop manufacturers, you actually cant get a clean instalation windows, all producers give some shit programs with it that loads with windows and slow it down.

Depends on what you're doing, get a Pro if you're doing graphic design/high RAM requirements but just get a Macbook if its for word processing, internet browsing etc. However, in a general sense the Pro is better.

if the RAM is DDR3 than you won't need to upgrade unless you run over 10 programs at once. and apple charges $100 to add 2gb or memory

Haha, personally I think the MacBook Air is just a waste of money, one USB port, heck you dont even get a DVD-ROM!! Oh, and btw I LOVE the startup sound the Macs make, its classic, unique and one of a kind. That sound has been the same startup sound since Mac computers ever came out, its the reason why it sounds quite korny but its cool :)
