Hahaha mattsrepair .... you are a jackass buddy..... this way pretty fast shifting. So you have built t56 transmissions before? What brand? I think your a pussy ass little bitch kid who is trying to feel cool by running your mouth. I bet you dont even own a car lol. And dont tell me to look at any videos of your car .... i can find a video of a ferrari and put it on youtube too... bitch ass fag
you shift like shit.i dont care how much shit people talk on here or not,but coming from a guy who BUILDS T56's,theres NOT ONE that will take this kind of abuse for ANY length of time...yes...it might be holding up SO-FAR,but trust me...IT WONT for long.Im willing to throw down triple digit bills that says that I can shift better times out of YOUR car than you can,AND i wont be "banging" gears like that. That T56 is crying out for help!Probably a teenaged driver who thinks he's "the shit".
@mattsrepair10 Sorry but you are mistaken. Thats not banging gears, the clutch is completely disengaged between shifts. The noise you hear is the engine revving, not the transmission. The trans doesnt make a peep, no grind, squeal nothing. I built this trans myself. You're right about a bone stock T-56 if it has the aluminum 3-4 shift fork you can easily break it. But this one is steel 3-4 fork, vette synchros, bronze fork pads, etc... Get educated about what these transmissions can do.
I don't know why everyone is freaking about about powershifting a T56, they're pretty bullet proof. I have one in my bolt on and geared Cobra and I powershift the hell out of it and it's shifts smooth as hell still.
i find most of these comments funny. if you go to a dragstrip and u see a FAST manual car ( or truck) they power shift. AND in this video he isnt even on the rev limiter. i mean i wouldnt do it but to each his own lol
omg who gives a fuck if this is bad on the transmission or not? most things that make you faster aren't good for any car. This dude can shift fast as shit. I've got a t56 in my caprice and power shift it as well and it's held up just fine.
@mavsformula nope, he launched at 4 second mark, hit 60mph at the 9 second mark, he powershifted beautifuly to get the fastest possible time... thoes guages are fine. just seemed quicker then it was,
@CemetaryGatesML That was also 3/4 throttle max. I was showing the shifting technique, not how "fast" the car was. It was bolt ons and baby cam and went 12.9 N/A and 11.50s on spray at VERY high altitude.
@Grifkylian Stock flywheel yes. It has a billet flywheel with Mcleod street twin and a built 355 now. I'll post some more vids when it's up and running!
i owned 3- 1992 camaros all rs 25th anniversarys(2 converts and a t top) a 1991 z28 350 ,a 1993 corvette 40th anniversary a 1998 z28 LS1 and a recent 1996 z28 convertible LT1 with lt4 cam and mild bolt ons and my favorite is the 96 the lt 1 engine is my favorite iron block angle plug high flow heads and reverse flow cooling ive grown very fond of the little LT1s low rpm torque with superb street power and 27 mpg at 70 on trips with the top up or down fun
I was always afraid to do that with my LTx motors, although both the T56 and ZF6 inspire confidence. I did it to my Non-WC T5 in my old 3rd gen, but w/ only 155 hp on tap, I wasn't likely to break anything. You wouldn't think a 305 could get rubber in the first 4 gears...but it can, just not very fast. ;)
@MsSnarler You are showing your ignorance with this post. It goes into the red because I keep my foot to the floor. I was actually shifting early on those runs. I usually shift at 6400 and the stock LT1 tach is way off and reads much HIGHER than actual. So here's an idea, go fuck yourself, eat shit, and die. You have no idea what the proper shifting technique for MY car is.
I see from the comments that it doesn't seem to be bad for the tranny or a decent (non-stock) clutch. Does this include the syncros? No one thinks this kind of shifting is particularly hard on the syncros?
@paintballer0816 the problem is that you said the v6's run 12.6's stock. in response to gregrob's comment of "so 2011 v6 Mustang's run better than 11.50's? Good to know."
and idk why, but i was thinking of the v6 vert's times.
ive been doing no lift shifts in every single one of my t56s and ive had 7 cars with them.... man it sure sux when you miss that third gear in the early models tho...
It's 100% okay to shift like this, been doing it for over a year on a stock T56 in my 94Z with over 220xxx miles. Granted it does have a good clutch. I'd say a stock clutch would probably slip a little between shifts but if you can tell it's slipping engage it then disengage.
It a great way to get some more sped . i use to do that in my supercharged lt1 t56 Trans am all the time . never had any trans issue. allow thow im sure it would prefer normal driving to racing anyday .
@gregrob20 People are retarded that are commenting on the video. It's no harder on anything then it is doing burnouts or grabbing gears. You're still using the clutch, just faster--and besides. The question about it being harder on the clutch depends purely on the clutch and the power level. Bunch of Honda kids imo.
@x42bnx No it won't, it's built for it. The trans has been doing this for 2 years and it is as good as the day I built it. and it's not a waste, because it is a performance car. When you build a car to race you expect a higher level of maintenance. Now go back to drive your prius and dont try to sound smart.
