jessica doesnt sing in her high register right. she sings from her throat... not her head. you can tell when she sings from her head voice, its better and clearer... throaty sounds horrible.
As a trained singer, I can tell you that the technique in which she attempts to reach high notes is incorrect and unhealthy, she would sound great if she knew how to get the right vocal placement, but she sings with her throat way too much, creating a strained sound. Also, and this is just my opinion, I prefer the original Robbie Williams version, and yes, it is a fantastic song :)
@hanjam16 you're so right about her placement being incorrect. But the sad truth about the music industry today is that only a small percentage of stars actually do use correct placement for higher notes. Everyone seems to think "well i have to belt this note out so it doesn't matter if it's in my throat, as long as it comes out." So it doesn't really shock me too much that she does it. A lot of these stars lose some of their vocal ability over time, because of years of singing incorrectly. :/
@hanjam16 I think that's just the sound of her voice... She hit the notes, and she sounded great at the same time so why critisize her technique while she's obviously performing great?
@Evaxlacrymosa I'm not saying she doesn't have a great voice, just that it would sound a lot better if she got the placement right. I'm not an expert on these things, i'm only a student myself! But from my own experience, when you sound strained it's not doing your voice any good, and can damage it in the long-term (I live in London and I haven't heard anything from her in a long time) I didn't comment to criticize her personally, only to advise other singers to avoid her mistakes :)

She got a beautiful voice, but it is still a robbie song. Look at Robbies Live8 performance or the Knebworth gig. it´s so much better than this version.

She sounds amazing. Every live performance of hers sounds better than the studio version. That tells you how good of a singer she is. And there's nothing wrong with the way she sings. If it makes her comfortable to make faces like she does to have a great outcome, then keep up the work. I completely agree. I love the version where she sings with David Bisbal. Why you ask? Because you can see he is doing the total opposite of what Jessica does. He's real when it comes to music. she does have a bunch of different tones but you've gotta respect her for being able to hit the right notes (especially the high, powerful ones) and being able to sing like that live. i think she's a good singer.

People like you who obviously don't sing, but simply like to go around judging everyone elses performances need to realise what your negative comments can do to performers. What? Do you believe that they have no feelings? Let me hear just one of you sing this song onstage and then you have the right to judge. Women get extensions all the time (I bet you dont approach them and dog them out) and even Regis & Kelly get spray on tans. :) Cool it!!

Soo many haters out there. She may not be the best singer there is but I think she does a good job on this song. Everybody is such a good critic. She laughs all the way to the bank reading all of the "I hate her voice" responses. Sing away Jess, I'll listen!

I don't know but something is not wrong with her singing, I have been trying to figure out but I haven' t find the answer yet! Her body movments are strange too, she is trying her best to sound good but sometimes doesn't work. I think she still has a lot of to learn yet

She sounds amazing. Every live performance of hers sounds better than the studio version. That tells you how good of a singer she is. And there's nothing wrong with the way she sings. If it makes her comfortable to make faces like she does to have a great outcome, then keep up the work. She's well aware of the faces...let's move on and focus on the reason why we're here; the music.

She has talent but she picked up some bad habits around this time. That annoying baby voice thing she does as well as the over the top body actions and all the weird faces. It's a shame because all of that really takes away from her voice which is pretty decent.

I completely agree. I love the version where she sings with David Bisbal. Why you ask? Because you can see he is doing the total opposite of what Jessica does. He's real when it comes to music. Jessica tries to hard & acts while she's singing... tryin to look like Britt or Christina :l It's not working for her AT ALL.

She's not trying to sound like Brit, she's just changing up the vocal acrobatics a bit. That's what artists do. btw, she has a good gospel choir voice
