  • The Wonderful Thing about Music is that those writing & doing it are giving Us a gift. A gift that will Live on long after all of us are gone. Till technology finds a better way to Travel back in time ? We'll have to keep doing it through Music. Thank You ARS for the Great Gift of Music and Memories. May You R.I.P Ronnie .

  • The first time I saw ARS was at a three day moto-X and concert in Wedowee, Alabama back in the early '70's. They were just starting to make a name. The rest is history. Their music is timeless.

  • To the one and only bieber brained asshole who pressed the thumbs down button.......Do you have any fucking idea who Ronnie Hammond is?

  • I love you so much and I miss your sweet tender eyes and your beautiful voice. You will always have the tenderest heart of anyone I've ever known. And you're right, Do It Or Die, you've got nothing to lose. I will always love you with all of my heart. I'm sorry I didn't tell you more often. • @51AngieH, our hearts are with you and the family. The entire ARS family misses him and keeping the great ARS music alive in his honor is one of the reasons Dean, Rodney, Paul and the rest of guys still 'Do It or Die". RIP, Ronnie Hammond!

  • ARS hit #19 in Billboard, 7-28-79. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Ronnie Hammond.

  • Good-Bye,Ronnie!!

  • Your voice was one of the sweetest in rock. You will be sorely missed. And my condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Ronnie's family and friends in what must be an extremely difficult time.

  • Saw these guys in '78...best bass player I ever saw live....

  • @MrEdgarCayce Yes. Paul Goddard was a monster bass player. And actually, and if memory serves me well, Paul was actually a guitarist before he switched to bass upon joining ARS.

  • -------EN EL PERU SE ESCUCHO ESTA CANCION, NO ME ACUERDO EN QUE RADIO, CREO QUE ERA RADIO MIRAFLORES, CON ADOLFO SOBENES-----VICTOR DE SAN JUAN DE MIRAFLORES --- P E R U

  • Ahhh to be 21 again as I was in 1979. Life was simpler and the music had more staying power than much of today's. Heck even our 20 something kids say as much. Ronnie Hammond and ARS leave a memorable track here that has that "pick-me-up" quality to it. Rest in peace, Ronnie this song is a keeper!

  • I was in the fourth grade when this song was popular. It made me so happy whenever I heard it. I just learned about Ronnie Hammond's passing. Such a charismatic performer! Thank you for posting this.

  • i love to hear that song do it or die..it motivates me get into the music. it sound so sweet to me....

  • BEAUTIFUL RONNIE.

    real laid-back southern pop!

  • Thank you for posting this! This brings back special memories. I remember this song from an album I had of mixed artists when I was like 13. Still brings tears to my eyes....

  • un himno a la puta vida,la reputísima vida,le viene de maravilla a los mexicanos a los cubanos y a los japoneses que somos los mas jodidos en estos momentos, ojala aprendamos a enmendar todos nuestros errores

  • A sad day for the music world south of the Mason-Dixon line. Danny Joe Brown and Ronnie were the best of the southern rock sence RonnieVan Zant was the best, by far, but Ronnie H was in a league of his own. I saw them in Seattle many, many years ago as an opening gig for Marshall Tucker. Doug Gray invited him out half way thru Marshalls' set " just to have a party" - it was awesome! circa 1982. I particularary love his ballad of the band.."Georgia Rhythmn"...it's one of the best..RIP bud

  • Steve Stone paid his respects, stand up guy!

  • i was saddened by the passing of ronnie. what was also sad was not 1 member of the original band attended ronnie's funeral.

  • @bisp25 That just sucks.....any details? I never knew of any rift between the boys.....

  • @hawk1866 hawk all i heard was justin senker, and steve stone attended. but neither are original members. that being nix, goddard, bailey, cobb, and daughtery. only rift i know was with nix. he was basically booted from the band in around 79.

  • @bisp25 that's not true, Dean, Barry, JR and Buddy were there

  • RIP, Ronnie! Thanks for the music and may you rest in His eternal peace.

  • he is in heaven people, not a dry eye ,Ronnie we love you!!I was told by a guy how down to earth he was that knew him ,the legend lives on

  • RIP Ronnie. You were one of a kind.

  • R.I.P. Ronnie Hammond. The beauty of your voice lives on!

  • Ronnie was a genuinely nice guy. Great band, one of the best.

  • LOVE AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO ALL OF THE FAMILY & FRIENDS AND FANS. WE LOVE YOU

  • ARS is a great band congratulations, very nice song

  • the one dislike is the guy who died

  • @dontbpanzee

.....ORR...considers the "electronic music" of today the only good thing in music, & yesterdays "Gold" as "Crap"

Basically the sound of a fax machine on a telephone eh!!!!

  • Doobie passed an FEELS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really do like this song! It contains a lot of good advice : -)!

  • yea those were the nights

  • ARS... with Ronnie...One of the ALL TIME BEST BANDS in my opinion.

  • Love the moment at 1:34 :)))) Thanks so much for posting, I had forgotten this gem! I loved ARS during that era...

  • Silky Smooth voice of Ronnie Hammond... WOW! that dude could sing!

  • @keykutter agree in his prime was 1 of the best, if not the best, great voice !

  • Ronnie Hammond's voice is one of a kind!

  • I am 50 years old and grew up during this era ( still growing up ) I absolutely love ARS, Outlaws, Stillwater, Nantucket, Allmans, etc., But I feel that Ronnie Hammond had the smoothest voice out of all the Southern Rockers. Thanx Ronnie

  • @billyclampable I'm 52 years old and soon to be 53 Oh God!! I am getting old when I can still remember this song as well as others from the 70's and 80's music isn't the same anymore now with this crap they play now on the radio and You Tube. I am not into rap crap and others and it was nice to see this song.

  • It takes me back to the summer of 1979, when I bought the album. I was working for free in college radio at the time. The album is Underdog, and being from Atlanta seemed natural at the time, for so was the President!

  • I can't wait to see them tomorrow night at the Iowa State Fair.

  • at UP, 1985, i was deep down depressed. and a friend sang this song for me... in his good old falsetto voice... i just can't believe this song is on you tube.

  • i love this song.. Thank you thank you

  • this group is one of the most underrated groups . i did own all of their 8- tracks . they are musically great. the lead singer has got a voice like no one else. i would put his unique voice right up there with john lennon & don henley

  • I always liked this song..... What happened to this group?

  • I don't know why this song has been on my mind for the last few days

  • Great song........wish I was young again....and knew what I know now!!!

  • The Wife tucked in behind me, The smell of the night ocean air, Chopper is runnin' smooth. Cold beer in the bags, stars above. No deadline, no problems. So long ago. Spooky on the phones, Thanks ARS,

  • i love the song very much. it brings back not only good but also bad memories but what i like most about the song is that it has a lot of words to live by.

  • love this song!!

  • This is awesome I was at that concert never knew that is was video taped! Thanks for posting this.

  • A fantastic song with wisdom to live by. ARS is just a fantastic band. You can't fake the heart and soul coming through in this song. IMHO ARS puts most of the newer rock bands to dire shame.

  • "don't waste a moment wonderin' why...you haveta go on...and do it or die." words to live by...such a heart-bustin' song...lovely croon, love it. " life is a gamble all along, winners or losers, you keep rollin' on, so go on & roll the dice, you only live twice.";) peace~ jillygirl

  • Hit #11 AC, #19 pop, #92 country in Billboard. God bless!

  • i was 14 in 79 watching this at 1 in the morning while parents slept great memories

  • It was 1979. Guys were still wearing their hair long despite the explosion of the disco look. Both the lead singer and lead guitarist look pretty hot to me, and yes, this song IS great.

  • Great song! The neo-hippie look leaves a little to be desired, but this is great Southern Pop.

  • This is why it's such a great song...substance over "style"

  • A truely forgotten classic.

  • This is one incredibly beautiful song and I hadn't heard this for probably close to 30 years. I love the sentiment and it has just become my motto from here on in. Thanks so much for posting.

  • clearly one of those forgotten songs. This was one of my favorite songs in 1979

  • @mattanddi62 The lead singer's voice is awesome!

  • What a sweet song....love it

  • very inspirational... i've been looking for this song long time ago..thanks sa nag upload...

  • A good song. I am surprised it hasn't gotten more airplay over the years. One of those forgotten classics.

  • its a song of hope and inspiration !! rock on !!

  • i love this one when i was a teen !! cool !!

  • I was there for this Champagne Jam, and all the rest, including Dog Day Rock Fest. Used to do studio work with Barry. Great tune, and great memories, guys.

  • @GeorgiaBoyMusic - I just read these guys were instituted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1996. What took that Hall so long? Or didn't that Hall exist for very long?

Anyways, I like everything I ever heard from these guys. What classic melodies and great guitar playing they had! I live in Minnesota though, and ARS only seems to tour in the South these days. So I probably won't get to see them. :(

  • even when times get rough and you've had enough, you still have to try (that's right!)

  • love these guys ... nice song ..

doesn't matter what people say ...

  • God bless atlanta rtym section forvever

  • Roll the dice.....u only live 2ice do it or die.......what a quote, i need that in my office!

  • thanks for posting this video :)))

  • the fact that we have youth on here telling everyone they love this song should tell all of us who grew up in the late 70' s and early 80's that this was the best era for great songs! I was in 7th grade when this was hot.

  • I also heard this song on the Bridge on Sirius and had to look it up. Such an awesome and smooth song. ARS was such a versitale and great group.

  • Dean Daughtery

    what \

    are you thinking????????????

with all the great players in the south GA,TN,KY tiy could have gotten better replacements for Cobb,Buie,Goddard what a waste to settel for tpdays crew....

What happened to the old members??????

  • this song was awesome...oooh the memories

  • Heard this on Sirius The Bridge Great Heartwarming song

"You only live twice. Go on roll the dice. Do it or die!"

  • I caught Alien and bought the single back in Ireland. Everyone thought I was nuts when I said their name. Great song but listening now they sound very like the Eagles (good or bad) most likely why I liked them? They filled a void left by the latter when they broke up. I have to say on the basis of this they were as good if not better.

  • I Love This songg!!!..my parents love atlantic rythym section!!!..

  • Thank God ARS who started out as a group of session musicians didn't stay put and graduated to being a full-pledged band. A great band

  • a haunting and beautiful song from 30 years ago....so chilled! 1979 was the best year for rock 'n roll--I'll never forget it!

  • It's a crying shame, I miss this time in my life. Good times gone but not forgotten, what a blast from the past.

  • @shootum1 ME, TOO

  • Listen to that melody , and voice. Ronnie and ARS , just brilliant!

  • go on and roll the dice, you only live twice, do it or die

  • Thanks for this precious vidéo~

    Beautiful song & LYRIC...

  • Great song, thanks for posting

  • The ARS of 2009 rocks...Their 1979

live album is a must have. Great then

    very good now.

  • Passed on man...toke one for me man *lol* Blessed Be and Peace =^_^=

  • I don't remember the song from when it was new. Recently (August 2008) I was demoted from a position at work that I was very invested in and I was crushed to be asked to step down. For the next 4 months I was in a very low position in the company with lower pay while someone else was awarded my old job. It was a crushing defeat to my ego. Then, I heard this song for the first time. It's as if God hand picked it for me to hear. It really lifted my spirits.

  • I was 7 in 1977....this was A Great tune..came out 1978

  • good luck to you

  • This song brings back great memories during the summer of 1979. It so happened that I drove down to Coral Gables from PA to attend the U. of Miami, and I heard this song on the radio while I was traveling on the road.

  • kaskeyl: I was the d.j. playing this song in the summer of 79...in one sense. I was interning on the air at my college radio station that summer, and I've never forgotten this song. "Driver's Seat" by Sniff and the Tears and "White Hot" by Red Rider was also big that summer. Great memories.

  • The best thing about pop music is that it's a "time-stamp" if you will on the days and the era in which these songs enter the charts. Some are quikly forgotten, some become hits and later classics, and some are big in their time and then discarded/forgotten. Unless they made an impression on individuals like you. That's why I've loved pop music since the age of 4 (1973) I still listen to it the new songs that come out each week.

  • Yes, I agree with you completely! It's almost like time travel itself the way a particular song can take you back to a precise moment in time....and now with vids its virtual

  • this i believe!! so true!!

  • Great song Great Band

  • Great message from a song completely ignored by oldies stations.

  • OMG! The lyrics just came right back to me as soon as the music started! How damn cool is that!! Ronnie Hammond was one the the most mellow singers that I have ever heard and cute as hell too! I can still remember sitting with my older sisters and singing this song. Wow, what a blast from the past. Thanks so much for posting this lovely song!

  • PUFF PUFF PASS THIS CLASSIC>>

  • Always loved this song.....Didnt the lead singer of this band get shot and nearly killed by the police?

  • I dont know but he kinda looks Paul Rogers.

  • yes
