  • drunk?

  • It actually have the Flat 12?

  • I hope it's because of terrible visibility, but that dude sucks at staying in his lane....

  • terrible driving. get the ***k over, instead of barely missing traffic to the right.

  • Porsche is the best but.....so litttle, so old, so ugly close modern cars !

  • "cheap replica" says the guy drivin some POS jap car with a fart pipe!

  • @cakraft24 brilliant answer!

  • Dude doesnt know how to stay in his lane....

  • OPEL FOR THE WIN

  • Tolles video!!!

    Danke!

  • All I need now is a street legal Mirage GR-8 from '75 then my life is complete.

  • Clean the boggers off the windshield !

  • he's not drunk, just keeping the car off the stones and shit on the side of the autobarns :)

  • Dudes trying to find a radio station loud enough to hear over the engine.

  • MY GOD! How could you NOT mash the throttle in a bloody tunnel???

  • is he drunk???? can't he stay in his own lane.

  • There were several licensed for the street. One German guy was able to get Alabama plates for the car since he could not get German plates for it. It was written up in Road & Track I believe about 15 or 20 years ago.

  • nice MR2

  • if i drove like that id get pulled over for drunk driving

  • Goddammit the design is from 1969 but still this thing looks like a modern racecar!

  • why isnt he staying in his lane lol!

  • @burton0078 he is bored ;)

  • Cheap Replica of the legendary 917!!!

  • @OllyHansen he does not like to!

  • @ottocars

who gives a fuck if it is a replica or not....

    STILL AWESOME!!!!

  • @OllyHansen that really doesn't look so cheap...

  • @OllyHansen i doubt it was cheap

  • if that guy was ever in the US every ricer in a honda would want to race him lol beautiful car.....wish i had a GT3 :)

  • i would be itching to gun it if I were the guy driving it

  • replics

  • be careful on speeding... section control!! ;)

  • I would absolutely go bat-shit insane if I saw one of these on the road. I would follow it no matter how far it went and I would offer every cent in my wallet and bank account just to get a short ride in it.

  • 44 Ferrari Nazis saw this video.

  • I WOULD SCREAM "OH MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL BLESSING."

  • If you will see this in a rear view mirror of your McLaren F1 or Veyron- take to the right)

  • @TheChiliLime Since it's only a replica with at most 600 bhp, I doubt the McLaren F1 or Veyron have much to worry about. I'd be much more impressed with someone buying it for track days, but taking it on the road? You're gonna look a bit of a fool to people who aren't race fans, especially when you try to crawl out of it when you get to a restaurant.

  • @gturner38 oh, i didnt know that its a replica, I know that at least 1 real 917 was converted to road legal car in Germany, so I thought its him (or another one). Thanks for info, i agree with you now)

  • @gturner38 even if its a replica then it must still weigh nothing and its so low to the ground i would say it would still give most super or hypercars a run for their money.

  • @TheChiliLime PORSCHE 917 - 1.9s 0-60 (prolly faster in a qual tune) / VEYRON - 2.5s 0-60. The Veyron is barely in this cars league and the McLaren is not at all. If this car is actually authentic :) Please don't respond with top speed rubbish either, the 917 does 400+ on period rubber, it would easily top the veyron with modern compounds.

  • @gowrishan

Thats what he was saying. He said "take to the right" to allow the 917 to pass because the left lane is the passing lane and the slower car must be in the right lane.

  • You went through a tunel and kept the windows closed? Fail!

  • what would really screw everyone up is when u pull side by side, u see Steve Mcqueen driving it.

  • omg im stunned!

  • He cannot stay in his lane because this car is old, and probably has lots of steering wheel play. lol

  • @MrJennings85 Or it`s just so low that if he drove on the middle of his own lane he could scrape the bottom of the car. Atleast one of my problems during summer.

  • you should have tried to race him...

  • oh hai. just driving my porsche racing car on the autobanz. no worriez, I'll be nice to it today.

  • Now you're playing with POWER !

  • why does this have to end on a tunnel? he HAD TO open up that car in the tunnel!

  • unreal!

  • that dude probably felt like he was idling down the road

  • holy mother, ... dary, legendary !

  • What a tool.

  • Funny to see a flat 917 near a 3 times higher vw t4.. :D

  • wholly shit

  • you know that thing cost some coin! he should learn how to stay in his lane!

  • I bet it's very difficult to see being in that tiny cockpit in the car. However that would be the drive of a lifetime driving a real race car on public roads. :)

  • I read somewhere Mr. Martini owns one but I thought he was driving sometimes in France

  • Not low at all:PP

  • Tolles Ding aber vermutlich eine Replika - trotzdem Daumen oben ;-))

  • Das geilste Auto der Welt.Vielen Dank fürs Video.

  • fuck my life this is in austria... i could have seen this car there xD

  • How much?

  • The 917 makes that speed idling in neutral !!

  • he's in everyone's blindspot

  • No body would drive a real 917 on a public highway. Too rare and immensely valuable. Also too brutally fast for traffic.

  • its filmed in austria. that means its a replica 917. the real and official number 20 belongs to jerry seinfeld. i have been in the porsche museum last thursday and they told us that only 10 original 917s are left. 3 of them in the porsche museum

  • It is possible that this car was part of an exhibition of the IPMS Austria in Vienna at that time - and now this Porsche is on his way home. I think the owner of this car is an Austrian collector - and the number plate in blue is a Austrian "hand over"- resp. "workshop" plate.

  • the driver is drunk

  • I would be arrested 3 times in the first month of ownership before the car was finally taken from me!! With Le Mans gearing they could hit something like 80 mph in first gear, way over 100 mph in 2nd and 245 mph in 5th.

The vastly more powerful turbo 917/30 could hit over 100 mph in 1st and something like 180 mph in 2nd, then 260 mph in top gear, 4th. You don't need lots of gears when you have 1100-1500 HP!!

  • this is like my fucking dream

  • If your going to DUI do it in style LOL

  • @rafaelmc76 the best!

  • Amazing self control not flooring it in the tunnel. Race engines and tunnels is such an irresistible combo.. I could never do that without making some noise..

  • not british - > in austria driving the Autobahn right to vienna -> austrian license plate.

  • he think is burn the tires and waiting for the green flag...jajajaja :)

  • wow wtf

  • God I want that car. Practical too.

  • i couldn't do that...my right foot would've got the better of me...

  • what kind of driver is that? such a disgrace to 917

  • wow

  • WAT THE HELL

  • 917k is some car

  • I would shit my pants if the legendary 917K was driving in the lane next to me.

  • @TruenoandLevin86 please dont do that!

  • @TruenoandLevin86 Imagine your at the gas station filling up the Accord and sucking down a big gulp, and this pulls in next to you for some Super Premium?

  • @TruenoandLevin86 how do you get out a speeding ticket,if you pulled over in one of these?

  • @TruenoandLevin86

    i definately would aswell.

is it a kit car or what?

  • @TruenoandLevin86

I can absolutly understand you man!

    ;-)

  • @TruenoandLevin86 I would shit my pants if i was the one driving it, anything over 1000hp would be scary enough if it wasnt held together by a plastic body that weighs about nothing and built to 40 year old safety standards.

  • @JSnyder49428

My sources say that the biggest engine Porsche ever put in the 917 put out 630 HP. I'm sure they tweaked it up to the mid 600's but thats just a guess.

And the frame has to be stiff enough to keep the body from rolling, and keep the torque (no pound foot, but 65 Kilos/meter, which equates to a lot)

so while its lightweight its rather stiff. no worries.

  • @DoomsDaySlip Is that only for the street legal ones? Because I've heard several numbers ranging from 1000 to 1500, but then again I only really know about the LeMans cars

  • @JSnyder49428

nosir, thats the Le Mans versions I'm talking about! I think the street legal versions use smaller engines actually.

  • holy cow steve mcqueen isnt dead :)

  • This is the last car on the planet I'd envisage a woman driving.

This talent should stick to using the train!

  • Actually they are about $135,000 no drive train. They aren't a kit car, its a duplication or the original made from steel vs aluminum. It accepts flat 6 or 12 if ur lucky to find one. And man that guy can't drive!

  • still one of my favorite videos ever

  • think its a replica. and austria

  • How come he can't stay in his own lane? Is he on the cell phone?

  • @vexviper It's set up for an oval track.

  • @vexviper no...its because he owns a 917 haha

  • @vexviper most race cars have very quick steering ratios and little to no deadzone in the wheel, giving them a tendancy to wonder when you're not 100% focused or doing 150mph plus

  • @almostunimportant I believe you. I drove an MG that was owned by a friend of mine and he raced it. And I tell you I felt like I was drving drunk. I couldnt keep that car from weaving.

  • @vexviper he's wanking ^^

  • @vexviper no...its because he owns the road with that haha

  • @vexviper if u have a car like this you can do that

  • @vexviper He's trying to scare the poopies out of the other people!

  • @vexviper or he is a brain dead idiot who cant drive for shit

  • @vexviper Maby he is drunk, or he is just a bad driver.

  • @vexviper It is very hard to keep a race car in a straight line...

  • Can't the idiot stay in the center of the lane, or had he been drinking ?

  • @Smithy318i

No, he usually drives LHD. This one is prob RHD and he is just too scared of the armco.

    Lame.

  • Er, take a wrong turn there buddy?

  • It´s a Kitcar(replica) not the original!

  • Comment removed

  • Was the the driver drinking? Can not drive worth a shit!

  • I don't think it matters if it's legal or not because the driver is probably a multi-millionaire who can get out of anything

  • its a 917 lmk a Ozzy company that did a limited run of street legal 917 recreations, they were/are quite reasonably priced.

  • In response to the HP question, some models of the 917 had up to 1100hp.... Phenomenal for when it was built...

  • how many horsepower has it got?

  • why is he so slow?? probably his drunk, which explains why his slow - to be carefull, and why he doesn't drive in a straight line.

  • Sorry, but that's simply not correct. Have a good one.

  • Pretty sure he's driving defensively like a motorcycle... you moron.

  • Are all these street legal?

  • @soccadude123 this is is austria..everything that is not street legal everywhere else is legal here haha..these would not be street legal anywhere else on earth

  • Actually you can make these street legal in America. I was thinking of buying one

  • @soccadude123 reaslly? how can you do that? and how would yuou buy one? you mean you were buying a replica..but yea..what do you do to make the real ones street legal?

  • yeah, i was thinking of buying a kit car...but to make this or really any car leagal all you would need is road tires, blinkers, regualtion headlights, and brake lights.

  • @soccadude123 not true actually dude..it would haver to meet emissions and have a proper north american legal bumper..aswell as airbags..basically..you could make a legal kit car of it..it would be very difficult to make the real thing legal..just with emissions alone..

  • doesn't need airbags...wouldn't be 2 hard to put a bumper on it

  • @soccadude123 if it's a kit car it doesn't..all new production vehicles have to be fitted with airbags..even TVRs arent street legal in north america..and they're more fitted for street use than a 917..a 917 was an LMP racecar..and look up the regulations..it's not just "putting on a bumper" there's more to it than that..otherwise people would be driving racecars around everywhere

  • @soccadude123 oh..and you couldn't use the 5 litre V12 in it either..so that would have to be swapped

  • i think you could...there are other cars with engines that big on the road...lambo's...mclarion F1

  • @soccadude123 it's not the size of the motor..it's the tune..it's tuned to run on leaded fuel..plus it doesn't meet emissions standards..it has nothing to do with the size..

  • well who cares...here in western kentucky we really don't care about that crap

  • @soccadude123 about what crap..EVERYONE has to meet emissions..you could drive anything ON THE STREET..but doesn't mean it's legal..and if you get pulled over they'll seize your car off the bat..how would the owner of a million plus dollar car like not having his car anymore?

  • @soccadude123 a fact is a fact..no matter who cares about it

  • The police wouldn't care here...were republicans here and we govern ourselves we ain't no pussys like democrats

  • @soccadude123 sounds like a sheltered statement to me..so you still doesn't answer my question..how does that make it street legal? cause it doesn't " the cops don't care cause we're not pussies" doesn't say anything

  • I guess you could just go 2 the court house and find out....but it doesn't really matter cuz neither one of us will ever own one

  • @soccadude123 nope

  • I can't say for sure, maybe they have permits available for such cars. Or better yet, register it as a vintage car which make sit exempt from most laws. All that has to be done is a "safety" check done by an official to deem the car safe for road use. Not sure if it applies to all or most states or countries.

  • yea but vintage cars..i am pretty sure they exclude purpose built race cars..there are vintage car races though..you could still privateer these cars at concours d'elegance and stuff.. but vintage cars don't get exempt from emissions laws last time i checked..you would first off need to tune to run it on unleaded pump fuel..since race fuel is not unleaded.and I don't think you would be able to tune these cars to run on pump fuel..

  • i could be wrong though..it would be interesting to look into..however..this was shot in austria..where EVERYTHING can be run on the street.

  • why does he keep pulling right? its annoying

  • he is british so what do you expect :)

  • @ottocars lol!

  • @ottocars And when the fuck does being British mean you can't drive? Obviously you are as stupid as you are biggoted, that's clearly not a British number plate (they are yellow on the rear). Fool

  • @m5nut hey you dumb fuck he kinda helped build the car check his other vids, and the man driving is a brit not the car ya old condom.

  • @m5nut stay cool i love the britts im only teasing! best regards.

  • @m5nut

indeed its the home of motor racing, so you would have to be a complete twat

a, to think it was british

b, to make the remark in the first place

  • @ottocars im british. thats fucking offensive. go learn some respect

  • @sasukeuchihayou stay cool i love the britts im only teasing! best regards.

  • @gggromay the wheel alignment may have been out :P

  • @gggromay i would assume its so the other drivers see him. He's so low that they could easily cut him off without knowing it.

  • @gggromay i have a feeling he wants to be spotted in the mirrors of people in the middle lane!

I expect its very easy for dosey drivers not to spot you

  • @gggromay it's because he can barely see anything to the sides out of that tiny cockpit, and he's over compensating for the guard rail.

  • you are so lucky that to saw a real one in your life.

  • What's the point of even driving that in traffic? It's like buying an F-16 and taxiing around the runway all day.

  • maby he is driving TO THE RACE TRACK

  • I bet that he is driving that way because the 917 is right hand drive and the other cars around are left hand drive. Driving like this is easier for him to keep visibility over his right shoulder and also as he comes up closer to other cars this might also serve for him to be seen before getting cut off. The 917 is only 37 inches tall.

  • I would love to fly around in that car like the rest of u, but what everyone is forgetting is this car has a 2.5-3.0lbs per hp ratio in race trim! That car would make u crap ur pants if u floored it. It wouldnt stop me though and wouldnt stop u guys either!

  • That's the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen!

I wonder how many saw it and didn't even realise what they were witnessing?

I've saw something very similar and almost as surreal in the uk just a few months back; An old Ford GT40 in full Gulf livery navigating a roundabout! Weather it was a replica or not, I don't know but it was an awsome sight!

  • Awesome car, but the driver needs to keep in their lane haha

  • awful driving

  • how do you go slow in a 917?stay in first gear?

  • Amen, but cops probably do keep an extra close eye on it. As for an earlier comment, yes its legal. Saw an article in car & driver decades ago showing a guy in germany who got it. Glad to see it still running. I'd lose my license driving it, no way i could drive it that slow very far before putting it to the floor.

  • This car isn't it, this one is a replica.

  • Took the time to finally read all the comments and noticed that, thanks. Wonder what happened to the one i'm thinking of?

  • Its painted silver and it was at Goodwood festival just recently.

  • Thanks, kind of hate that its been repainted but all things considered thats ok compared to the alternative. Its getting close to 40 years old. A lot could happen in that amount of time.

  • The one that was road registered in the U.S. by the Count Rossi and then took it back to Europe is the one painted silver. Also it's got a unique leather interior. What color was it painted in the article you mentioned? Maybe it's another one!!!

  • Been a LONG time ago. Late 70's issue of Car & Driver if remember right. It was a black and white picture from behind so i couldn't tell the color. The owner was acting like he was getting in for the sake of the photographer. There was a caption under the picture telling who it was and he lived in germany is all they had.
