Have just rediscovered Guy Mitchell, what a wonderful singer he was,by far my fav song by him at the moment. Also been listening to Al Martino and Dean Martin, todays generation haven't got a clue compared to these guys.
@wilski41 I understand just what you mean sweetie, also @ the movies when the good guy got shot, especially if it was Roy Rogers or Gene Autry..lol hugs, phyllis xo
... 1950.... Godfrey, were you still in Canada or were you in Augusta by then... I was 7-8 yrs old and remember this on the radio... then both 16 yrs old i winter of 1958-1959 we had contact... at flooded skating rink behind Cony... you skated by very closely to tease me.... then April 1959 our first kiss, so sweet, so tender...
Heh, you said it! Theres a rare & exppensive book out there, "thanks for the memories" that relates a story of how sinatra had his flunkies feed someone to the sharks.Everytime I see one of his films or hear a song by him, I think of that story.
I beleave this song was first offered to Sinatra, and he refused to record it, Mitchell was asked if he would do it to fill the recording time paid for, and a great career was born. So I've heard.
This brings back happy memories of my early childhood. My mother often used to sing this song. We loved Guy Mitchell here in the U>K> (England that is)
Wonderful singer - wonderful song!....

@jmen4ever Yes that is so true. Have quite a collection of Guy's records, he was a good entertainer too.

@jmen4ever I don't think Sinatra had much of a heart. Good Guy sang this instead. What a song though!!
