  • Lol this is so cute!,how the heck is this sad?

  • beautiful vid but he sounds british....

  • Omg I have Autism too but dang! he's smarter than me! xD

  • 'Am I like that?'

'You are very much like that.'

    Great video.

  • the mum needs to stop bigging up her kid and tell it like it is

  • @hideHYDEimcoming

she is telling it like it is.

  • he has a british accent kind of... this reminds me of the cartoon Home Movies...

  • I have no heart of steel, I just listened to a story that really hits home. I feel for him, I really do. I have asperger's too (still can't spell it like a lot of people though.) and it's been hard for me my whole life, but I try every day, and I've always attempted to do better. I usually have the top grades of all my classes (except advanced math, always either a C or B), and people kinda have trouble understanding me,( I also have horrible handwriting, but am a pretty good writer, go figure)

  • @ChaosAngel4274 I basically get a pass from other people, and I've always had trouble making friends, but not being nice, that's just who I am. I've never been able to get a date in high-school (even though I really am a better quality guy, good looks were not part of my genes :/) So this kid just makes me think that maybe I can take a good look at myself, and get to the end of the rainbow with a smile on my face (or at least a look of neutral confusion). So thank you Joshua, youreallyinspiredme

  • I'm not American or English natives, but I was about to cry for the last scenes T____T

  • Wow, this reminds me of a lot of the chats I have with my mom (I've got Asperger's, too). I have a sibling as well, and I found that I asked why he seemed to have a better life when I was younger (not anymore). This kid seems to have a great, supportive family and great friends, though. His mom sounds so awesome (a lot like mine, actually). He's gonna turn into one interesting guy when he grows up. C:

  • Crap, here comes the tears. lol.

  • fuck. im crying again. i can understand this kid. i have asbergers and my mother faught people to find out how i think or how she could make my life a better place. unfortunatly she died in 2008. but i know she is proud of me.

  • @cantosprofanae your story touched me, I'm sorry for your loss.

  • @B0oR4dl3y hehe. thank u friend. but dont be sorry, shes in a better place

  • Joshua's in college now, apparently, and here's another interview between him and his mother: storycorps. org/listen/stories/sarah-and-joshua-littman-2/

  • I giggled at 2:30 X)

  • I was diagnosed with mild autism at the age of 4. It was at times difficult for me to interact with other people, especially during my highschool years. But I graduated and now, I'm in college working really damn hard to get my AA in psychology. People need to communicate with each other more often to gain understanding. Josh is my hero.

  • Out of all of them, I cry the most whenever i hear this story

  • I have high functioning autism. Thank you for this StoryCorps.

  • my friends looked like that too

  • I love this

  • It's my goal to have a life worthy enough to be on StoryCorps.

  • @KevinHilt You do. It just have to be narrated the right way. :)

  • Just curious... But where did the accent come from?

  • I'm 18 and I too have Asperger's. It can be really tough for a kid that has Asperger's to find friends, but yes, kids with this kind of autism have very big interests. I has many interests, such as trains, Super Mario, computers, and a whole lot of others throughout my life. It's very hard to live though the teen years, and I really hope Joshua makes it. (P.S., Joshua, we had Zoology as a class in Elementary & my favorite was the Sidewinder :D)

  • @dheer730 how about you go choke on another dick and actually suffocate and die you fucking cum gargler. Im sure you love getting your fudge packed, so why dont you go back to your dick sucking profession. Kids with aspergers have more social ability than you, not to mention a higher brain capacity. I know capacity is a big word for you, so go ahead and look that one up. My point is, good people like me actually care for other human beings and we love storycorps' stories. So, again, go back to

  • @WittyUsername14 i don't think you got what @dheer730 was trying to say-- he/she is in no way trying to offend the kid; actually, @dheer730 has brought up a great point which many people don't seem to pay attention to, it being the fact that society has secluded a selective amount of people so as to increase revenue & sense of normality. i highly recommend you watch "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" & read David L. Rosehan's "Sane in Insane Places" article.

p.s.- foul language is so negative

  • I wish this was a TV show or a mini series that could play during commercial breaks. I really really love these stories.

  • this kid is so smart. his responses are epic.

  • I love what Joshua said. So matter of fact, " I have better quality friends". :-)

  • cute, i love the animation too

  • more storiesssss!!!!

  • So Cute =)

  • I bouth respect a simpathise with this kid I myself grew up with aspergers and had many of these problems plus the limited choices I had sence I had that lable alot of my friends also had disabilitys often because it was the only option avalable *sigh* and how your dignety just abandons you when you walk off the short bus for the first 3 months you almost want to put a paper bag over your head I would always get very sensetive around the word "special"

  • this kid is soooo cute! "do you have any mortal enemies"

  • 2:48 made me cry a little.

  • i'm not crying....... *sniff*

  • i like the stories becaue im a little kid but if i were 20 i would say that its cute but a peace of shit jokong its a peace that fulls up my heart

  • As a 20 yr-old aspie, this speaks to me in more ways i can think of.

  • :) lovely stories!

  • Wow. He is such a smart kid...much more mature than a lot of people I know. I seriously respect him.

  • This kid has social skills!!!!! He asks questions that most people NEED to ask eachother and don't. He's more self aware than half the college kids I know. lol

  • @tobinjordan Well it is very easy to ask question to your mother.. with our without social skills

  • this conversation is amazing. i'm so happy i can watch it a thousand times over. "Well i'm the one that made you a parent."

  • That last question kinda made me tear up a bit. I mean these are all just so touching.

  • So sweet. He reminds me of my oldest. : )

  • Why am i crying to this one too!?!?!?!!

  • @rhnpeterson joy?

  • How the hell did this miss my inbox?

  • its interesting that he sounds like he has a british accent and she has an american.

  • "Well I was the one who made you a parent." Hahahahahahaha I love this kid

  • i love storycorps videos even though they keep on making me cry

  • He sounds like he has an english accent. and I think he is really funny and I would want him to be my friend. Also this was uploaded on my birthday so that makes me even happier to have watched and favourited this video.

  • This is the reason why we need PBS, Beautiful story.

  • Not to be mean but Joshua sounds british!

  • dislike how could you i feel so happy for these people getting to tell their stories so please stop with the dislike button

  • I had to favorite this one. I keep watching it. The love in the mother's voice and her at times almost painfully truthful answers are delighting and endearing. I love the mortal enemies question too. I love that the son feels free to ask these questions. I will probably watch this a hundred more times. It just doesn't get old.

  • Was anyone expecting someone to die weeks after the interview...?

  • @xkrazunit This guy.

    This fuckin' guy right here.

    This guy man, this guy.

  • he's so cutee

  • ...Those were some really deep questions if he came up with them himself 0_o

  • I can relate to him. I had mild autism when I was 4. With me its cars( primarly Chevrolet's racing history). Sometimes it can be hard for me to people around groups of people. But thankfully I have loving parents, good teachers, and a few great friends that helped me out. This was really insperational. :')

  • I'm not alone. This video is beautiful, I felt just like that when I had his age and thankfully I have wonderful parents like Joshua. His mom can say things truthfully while being sweet. I want to be his friend and want to be a parent like that.

  • I love the crestfallen cockroach

  • He seems pretty clever, especially for someone who has Asperger's.

  • @Coraircate Aspergers doesn't effect intellagents.

  • @wchvideo He's clever in the way he talks to his mom.

  • @Coraircate Yeah but aspergers is a form of autism and autism doesn't effect intellagents. He could easily be a genious.

  • @wchvideo lol. hopefully you don't have it while spelling the word intelligence

  • @MrRevolutionmagic That's really ignorant.

  • @Coraircate Aspergers is marked by average to above average intelligence. So our average intelligence is slightly above the norm.

  • My brother has autism... He is in a class with kids with aspergers and autism

  • "Well, I was the one who made you a parent." That kid is awesome :D

  • He has a great vocabulary for a little boy makes me seem even dumber

  • i work with a boy who has aspergers and many think he's odd or rude but i adore him. like joshua in this film once you get to know him he's a truly incredible person with a wicked sense of humour and not a day goes by when he doesnt have me in stitches of laughter. he has made me grow and has alowed me to lessen my judgemental side and expand my willingness to get to know everyone, despite some first impresseions. sad will be the day when i wont be able to work with him.

  • I can relate to this having mild Asperger's myself.

  • @Cyclonus21 same here :l

  • @TheWeehoo74 I've sorta grew out of it (it was worse when I was younger) but I still get my social awkward moments and I obsess over certain topics sometimes. Because of this I'm a big history buff XD.Like I know a lot about WW2,the Cold War,politics, dictatorships around the world yadda yadda haha. Oh yeah and Star Wars.

  • @Cyclonus21 Its hard for me to socialize in public , especially school :\ I dont know when i'll grow out of it but i TRY to talk to other ppl but idk what theyre talking about...plz help >.<

  • "I mean Amy loved Claudia then she hated Claudia then she loved Claudia-"

"Part of that's a girl thing, honey."

    LOL! I LAUGHED SO HARD!

  • I love that kid he's sweet

  • I love that kids voice. He has a very inquisitive way of speaking...

  • This is just so sweet and beautiful.

  • Goodness Gracious that was gorgeous.

  • Joshua - you are all kinds of AWESOME!

  • i love his accent

  • "Well, I was the one who made you a parent." This kid's great.

  • One of my good friends has Asperger's syndrome. He is easily the most honest friend I have. Some people don't get it and avoid him, but they are truly missing out.

  • @milesgti i have aspergers and i feel alot of people dont get me BUT

the people who stay are dear to me and im dear to them

  • There needs to be so many more of these stories. They are absolutely wonderful!

  • I would so be this kids friend when I was back in 7th grade, he seems like someone I would look up to.

  • "Part of thats a girl thing honey."

IDK why, but I LOLed at that.

  • @Free2LoveDorks It was funny. LOL :)

  • @Free2LoveDorks Because its true XD?

  • The accent he has could be from having Asperger's. They can quire "strange" traits or rituals and his may have been he just developed an accent

  • I love how honest his mother is with him (:

  • I definitely would be this kids friend in 7th grade

  • MORE PLEASE........i love listening to these stories

  • MORE PLEASE........i love listening to these stories

  • goddamn. reminds me so much of my mom and I. fuck. now i'm crying.

  • It's millhouse!

  • being a kid that has aspergur's myself, it makes me think... it's good to be "weird" or not so social. I wouldn't have my life any other way!

  • I feel a little like this kid some times.... actually more than sometimes, but he is a little more intelectual for his age

  • im not crying, its dust got dang it!

  • Aww this is sweet :3

  • Does he have an English accent?

  • @Ajamethia i was thinking that too, cause his mom doesn't have an accent, it's confusing

  • @schizokitty177 maybe his dad is from england, or maybe he got it on his own it happens sometimes

  • @Ajamethia Apparently he was born in the UK and due to his asperger he still has it.

  • "do you have any mortal enemies??" LOL i love this kid.

  • That kid is in the 7th grade and he sounds more intellectually developed than my entire sophomore year. KEEP ROCKING LITTLE DUDE.

  • This kid is hilarious.

"I mean my friends are better quality, not quantity."

  • I have a friend with assburgers too

  • @pimpinspartan *asperger

  • i want to be like the mom when i'm older. :)

  • Poor kid, everyone knows middle school is hell, even worse than high school.

  • i love this kid.

  • "Girl thing" xD

  • Awww, the sad snake and cockroach, even though the cockroach is ugly it's still a Awwww moment

  • so sweet:)

  • why do they have blue hare

  • @Adawg4008 they are cartoons

  • This video made me cry

  • "I was the one who made you a parent" what a smart kid cant see how someone couldnt like him = /

  • My brother has Asperger's and he is 19. Joshua sounds like he has it a little worse and a little better. Even though my brother is 19 he can act like a three year old. He gets angry at every video game that he can't beat, he has little to no friends, he is a HUGE pain in the ass, he is annoying to look at(in my opinion), and just doesn't know how to talk to people or be kind. But I still love him and I would do anything for him.

  • @Stabripbeef I would like to know your brother, I myself have asperger's and i know how hard it is to have friends. It feels like paranoia, i constantly think about what people are thinking about me and whether or not they like me. You're an excellent sibling for loving your brother even with the flaws he has, the world needs more people like you who are accepting like you are with your brother.

  • "Did I turn out to be the son you wanted when I was born? Like did I meet your expectations?"

man, that get me every time. Love this story!

  • kids a baller. <3 best of luck

  • The mom- I wouldn't judge the quality but i think-

Son- I mean like, first it was like amy loved claudia and then she hated claudia then she loved claudia and then she hated claudia

The mom- yeah well you know.. part of that's just a girl thing, honey..

    LOLOLOLOL :) :) :)

  • @whiteasiangirl that part was so funny, and utterly true.

  • i feel like him, sometimes. not being social, and being ignored by family

  • this kid is sharp

  • The kid is probably as smart as me! (I'm a first year university student lol!)

  • my mum works with several people with Asperger's syndrome and she has for the past few years, so from the time i was 10 i've been able to tell that Aspergers is a form of high functioning autism and i've had several friends who have it.

  • was that a facebook chat bleap around 2:21-2:25?

  • My best friend has asperger's, he can solve a Rubik's cube in under 30 seconds. He's also 12 years in the 7th grade.

  • soul refreshing .. ahhhhhh

  • thats a girl thing honey... AHAH ! <--- best mum ever :D ! ahah x Such a loverly mum x im so glad i have a mom like that x (:

  • like I have better quality friends but less quantity. LOL. Best kid ever.

  • i wish me and my mom had such a nice connection:'(

    this made me cry

  • thinking now my mom is strangely like her :)

  • I love this kid.

  • there is so much truth in this recording.

  • I WANT TO BE HIS FRIEND.

  • This one is special to me. Somehow, listening to this loving conversation, I feel less alone being the mom of an aspergar's son.

  • @Hoss1House I feel less alone being an adult Aspie child that recently lost her mother.

  • This sounds weird but Joshua sounds exactly like my girlfriends little brother!

  • if i knew joshua i would definetly be his friend :)

  • those have got to be some of the most intense questions a kid can ask their mother. i don't think i'd handle it that well.

  • lol "because I was the one who made you a parent" <3 that

  • she sounds like kate gosselin

  • this spaghetti syndrome sounds very serious

  • I like this one it made me learn a lot

  • @darthsentros It made me learn a lot also

  • the last 3 stories i've seen, i cried.... even though i'm a guy these real life stories can be related soo easily.. and i thank Storycorps because i really needed this

  • joshua:"but i made you into a parent" ----->made me LOL

  • this kid sounds smart for being in the 7th grade

  • @obirb10 That's sort of another thing that comes with Asperger's. They are dang smart.

  • @obirb10 I suspect most kids are really much smarter - in emotional terms - than people think. And perhaps, because of his Asberger's, he has spent more time thinking about things like this than many 7th-graders.

  • Holy jesus, I could not be that child's parent....

  • When she said "You exceeded my expectations" I lost it. I am now a sappy baby lol. <3

  • @lifewithmesarahmarie same here!! my first born son is almost 11 & has asperger's syndrome & he sounds just like this kid!! :) :) They're not very adept at social skills but they pick up on other people's emotions better. I think that's a plus not a negative!! People can be so shallow but kids with asperger's are very deep & thoughtful. They love & care about people very deeply!! Once they find that "passion" for something they go all the way with it. <3

  • @knorris723 I know a lot about asperger's :] My older cousin has it and so does my mom's best friends daughter (I consider them a second family so I love them to death). My cousin knows tons about animals, like this little boy, and my little Gracie Lou (thats her name) she knows lots of things but her new thing is sonic the hedgehog and his whole gang. God has definitely given me a heart for special needs kids. Whenever I see a person with a disability it just melts my heart and puts the

  • @lifewithmesarahmarie biggest smile on my face. Grace is 10 and I'm 17 but I consider her, and other children with disabilities my heroes because I have seen first hand what they have to go through and how a lot of things are more complicated for them and yet they push through and tackle obstacles. It's so admirable. I really do just love people but there's a special place in my heart for people like Grace and my cousin, Zachary (who's 19 but mentally he's younger), and this little boy. :] <3

  • haha "Well i was the one that made you a parent"

  • My nephew has asperger s.

He is the most annoying, nerving, amazing, funny kid LOL

    I love him!
