  • i have a saint bernard ater watching the movie my dog creeped me out for a week

  • Maybe as you say spoonmonkey14, her vehicle got stalled cause they don't have enough gas in the next hagglund or both of them

  • Poor Bennings. Got shot AND assimilated.

  • Way to end the video on a cliffhanger! *clicks part 3*

  • Thanks for a great upload!

  • MACREADY I'M SORRY THAT YOU DIDN'T GET THE LUKE SKYWALKER ROLE IN STAR WARS IN 1977

  • 1:50 lmao

  • FUCKING A! new movie was a fuck tard shit! CGI SUCKS! AND THE STORY WAS A FAIL I saw porno's with better actors and story!

  • the new thing had no suspense..u empathised with non of the cardboard c/ters,total f/x shit..n the ginger-bearded norwegien fuckin wants his face torn off..........thing 82....superb!

  • @holtylee But the entire point of that movie was to lead into this movie, in a way this new one was a part 1 and this was a part 2 i liked that about it.

  • 0:52

    they see me rollin' ...

  • I am the biggest wimp ever. If I can watch this through once without turning away or muting my laptop I will have reached my life goal

  • @Petrock508 it's ok hon, i actually got deathly nauseated watching this the first time.

  • if people actually think the new the thing is better than the 1982 one they're smoking something

  • @secretagentsir i just watched the original version and the new one is actually closer in it's storyline than this one. but Kurt Russell rocks so i like this one too

  • @secretagentsir

You are so fucking right! :D

  • Quaker oats "it's the right thing to do" guy is in this movie?

  • Palmer looks and sounds like michael keaton-especially at 1:56

  • Do you have the tape or dvd of this because I'am wondering did you get this it's really old.

  • Hey swedes! Be more nowregian! ;D

  • what's the name of that song that the guy told him to turn down, I really want to listen to it right now

  • @Dxternator superstitious by stevie wonder

  • this movie rocks old horror movies are bether than the crap of today

  • @beginluc

All the crap is basically see jack@ss run.

  • @beginluc exactly, now they're just gore fests (Saw, Hostel) and don't build suspense like old horror films do.

  • @beginluc Yeah---now days they spend too much time & money on special-effects, etc.

  • @beginluc the reason y is because no one can think of anything originally

  • @beginluc very very true. They have ran out of ideas now. Still good to see them making a prequel, and even taking time to match the details to hook up perfectly with this one.

I would love to see a sequel to the 1982 on mind you. I think with the right director it could be brilliant.

  • @beginluc All horror movies are crap e.e...

  • bennings makes a faggy sound when he's getting sewn up, I can't help but think that he was liking it when the alien starts taking him over..oh BABY@!

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName Totally agree.

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName For me it's the same! OK, together with the all these japanese "Ju-on" 's and "Grudge" 's. + King's "It", of course! :DD "The Thing" simply thrilled me durin' the first time, even before the moment a dog started its transformation in a cage! - but today I see it with... totally different eyes!

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName Yeah, of course - it's a fiction (with all that that involves as regards any fiction!). But then - some details are extremely important (sometimes!)

  • I see more mistakes in the 2011 movie. Collins dead body is leaning backwards in chair in a slump with his face to the ceiling, while the body in this movie is almost straight up.

The razor is in the wrong position in the prequel, and his wrists aren't cut in the prequel but in this movie it is/

The more I watch the prequel the more things wrong I notice. Unacceptable.

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName Well, I see both explosions as a whole. Since the first 1 isn't credible enough...

  • @NamedAndUnnamedName Well, I'll try my best by givin' "names to unnamed"! 1800 km of non-stop runnin', in freezin' Antartics... There's, probably, a nuclear mini-engine inside this Superdog! :D (I studied heat transfer and thermodynamics, OK?) Concernin' this "fart" (with quotation marks!): the whole "grenade act" looks rather unrealistic - at least 4 my eyes! - though these things, of course, could happen. No good credibility of this episode kinda effects a Helo explosion.

  • Can someone be that nice and explain me the concept of that alien? Ok, he can imitate other life forms. But what happens to the ''original''? And how can imitation not know that he is ''imitated''?

  • @PowerfulWorm The original is completely dead. The thing has full control of the imitation. It might leave the imitation's personality inside to appear more normal but it still controls all the actions.

  • @rippedlampshade Ok, thanks. :) One more thing, the imitation is unaware that he is imitated. Is that under alien's control as well?

  • @rippedlampshade Oh, and it appears to me that the alien is more like parasite than the ''imitator''. Because he kills it's prey and hides inside it. It's more like hiding, not imitating. Correct me if I am wrong.

  • @PowerfulWorm It is imitation. The thing doesn't kill it's victims and wears them like a coat (if that's what you mean). It absorbs the victim's cells and copies them. So by the end, everything from limbs to hair is completely alien.

  • @rippedlampshade Ok, now i understand. Thank you. :)

  • @PowerfulWorm the 'original' gets eaten dumbass

  • @sikkinyx58 Could you be more specific, dumbass?

  • @PowerfulWorm sure. if you watch the fucking movie and have a lick of sense you will discover that the person the alien takes over is absorbed. i just think it's really fucking ignorant when someone asks about shit that the movie clearly answers.

  • @sikkinyx58 Well, I'm sorry for asking for things that I wasn't too sure about and wanting to make them clear.

  • after astrology is accepted as the first science than we'll have to start believing in something new all over again.

  • Well, it's a good thriller, but than - some things shouldn't be neglected, even in a fiction! An unsuccesful helicopter mission in the very beginnin' doesn't give u a feelin' this kind of things could ever happen! A distance between any of the only two norwegian research centers to the nearest (!) US one is 'bout 1800 km, that males this dog a "SUPERDOG", from any point of view! :DD Let alone quite comical loose of the grenade grip (???) followed a split second later by the helicopter fart...

  • @Hollandia777 to read: "...that makes..."! :D

  • @SWAGnMOVIES: please make this part available for mobile users

  • I like the new movie better. This one dont have girl action in it.

  • I think Kate made it to the Russian base but they may not have believed her about the whole alien thing. So it was too late to warn the American science team. I hope they continue the story

  • @RXTVonline

They won't because this movie flopped big time. And rightfully so I might add.

Also there isn't suppose to be any survivors except for the 2 Norwegian guys in this movie, and then they decide, gotta make kate survive is bullshit and contradicts the original.

But then 99% of the prequel contradicts the 82 film.

  • I speculate Kate is dead. Probably infected by the Thing, or her vehicle got stalled before reaching the Russian base.

  • @spoonmonkey14 Its possible she made it. It would take her a while to get there and for them to get help back out here.

  • @spoonmonkey14 She killed the last guy infected by the thing . Why would she do that if she's also infected ?

  • @spoonmonkey14 this movie is much more scarier.. not depending on the effect only

  • @spoonmonkey14 No she decided to go back to the space ship and fly it into outerspace. What, it could have happened.

  • actually the reason im watching this was cause of the champions online whiteout

which really reminded me of this

  • Comment removed

  • What happened to Kate from the Thing 2011. She survived but at the end, we just saw Lars running out the building. she sat in the car and then? Is she dead or what?

  • @LigtvTR ask the fuckers that wrote the script

  • lol i never watched this movie yet but i watched the 2011 version first so this is so cool watching this now

  • On what site can i watch the Thing 2011?

  • at 2:03 - who is the character smoking the cig in the background? Not one of the main / supporting characters ad never seen again in the film.

(Yes - watched this WAY too much)

  • @Axexut

The guy smoking is Palmer he is in the film many times.

  • the only thing that confuses me [only cause i havent seen the 2011 one yet] is the spaceship intro at the beginning of this one...it obviously couldnt be a "drop off" kinda thing..the onyl possible explanation is that it was just circling earth, but it looked like it entered the atmosphere...if this is the sequal to the 2011...then obviously the 2011 was not ment to be made [shouldnt have been]..theirs always something about classic horror movies that leaves people puzzled

  • @slayerT75 The 2011 film is a prequel.

Obviously the spaceship bit happened BEFORE the prequel AND this film. But anyone watching the 1982 film alone needs to have a little intro of how the Thing got to earth. I dunno if we see the spaceship intro in the 2011 version as all the movie theatres have stopped hosting it! I`ll wait for the DVD I guess.

  • @slayerT75 obviously anyone that thinks the the alien was 'dropped off' has not watched this fucking movie. i repeat; WATCH THE FUCKING MOVIE.

  • @sikkinyx58

...lol dude ur so late that it wasnt even worth commenting me but im glad u did cause i got bored and decided 2 watch this movie again...so thnaks for ur suport...did u like the movie? and focused more on the movie than the comments?

  • Why is this not allowed playback on my iPod?

  • I really like that dog. Even though it's not really a dog, It's "The Thing" but I still like that dog.

  • in this version the space craft was little but in the recent one, the spacecraft was massive!

  • 9 people are the thing

  • god doesn't this give you chills after watching the 2011

  • @ByronIsTheBestEver yea the prequel ties in pretty well, when watching this it feels like the events in the prequel JUST happened

  • @prime513 Yeah It's very well set though but the prequel forgot to mention the grenade crate. Didnt show that Lars brought it on the helicopter. Except that all is so well set.

  • @huynhkhanhhieu ..............I'd have...to respectfully....disagree...*swallows rage*

  • Did anybody notice the fact that in the prequel, it wasn't the black guy who died first. They sure got around that stereotype.

  • @joujou264 It's because black people bitch too much about white people trying to put down the black man.. They just simply avoided it cause we're tired of hearing it.

  • What happened to the girl though? Did she survive? Did she get to the station?

  • @joujou264

She did survive but I bet she froze. She didn't get back to the station.

  • @BlueTheArcticFox tell me something: how do you survive if you are frozen? PMSL! People don't fucking 'hybernate' like that fucking monster

  • In first movie the thing(sequel) (it) reacted defensively(action reaction) to survive . but in prequel (it) it acted like a predator it made people react to him, my theory would be it got more clever when it came around americans :-D as it was close to be eradicated and (it) knew that the spacehip was defect from explosion so (it) stalled.

  • Still wondering what happend with Kate in the Prequel...

  • The cool thing about the prequel is, the lead that we see in these scene, the two faced Thing, the axe, the dead scientist with the razor. Other then that The Thing 2011 was not a big letdown but still a medicore compared to the masterpiece that is The Thing (1982).

On the other hand, you won't find any movie this season that is more gory and grim then this. I fin it cute the way it tries to copy the paranoia and pure horror from the first one.. but there it fails..BIG TIME...

  • @9Y0 The Thing 2011 was not medicore. It was awesome. There are both amazing films. I hate people that always say the remakes and prequels are bad because they are .. infact.. i don't even know why you people hate on it.

  • @Boostique44 I completely agree. I'm sick of these pretentious morons saying new films and remakes are bad without even giving them a chance.

  • A kid like you wouldn't understand, you may when your older but probably not.

  • @Azartusfar A kid like me wouldn't understand? What the hell are you talking about, because I don't understand why idiots like you don't give modern things a chance makes me a stupid kid? Get a life already.

  • Typical reaction for a kid your age.

  • @Azartusfar Typical reply for A kid your age.

  • @Azartusfar Wait a minute. LOL you absolute retard. This 1982 is actually a remake from the 1952 one which was in Black and white. So you are actaully defending a remake, which I wasn't even attacking. Nice one!

  • Actually this is not a remake, it's another person's take on the film, that is why it is reffered to John Carpenter's The Thing, it is completely different from The Thing from another world which I have seen not to mention John Carpenters The Thing was based off a short story called Who Goes There? while the thing from another world was not, TL:DR version: You're wrong, yet again.

  • @Azartusfar You can tell me about all this "Actaully this is" bullshit all day. The point is that you can't give a remake a chance because you are to ignorant and think you are some sort of Hipster /end conversation

  • Lol ironic coming from you kid, it's just a phase, you'll get over it soon enough.

  • @Azartusfar You keep calling me a kid, is there something wrong with being young?

  • Yes, it proves your intellect and wisdom are inferior to mine, IE your opinion doesn't matter.

  • @Azartusfar My opinion doesn't matter? Fuck you, I couldn't give two fucks about your opinion either. If you are going to be such a dickhead then why even attempt to talk to me, so pointless. Instead of arguing with me you could be watching some black and white 1934 movies.

  • LOL umad kid ;)

  • @Azartusfar black and white 1934 movies.

    All i'm going to say.

  • So I see you've finally accepted that I'm right.

  • @Azartusfar You see wrong.

  • You spell wrong.

  • @Azartusfar Quote one spelling mistake in that comment. Fail.

  • @Boostique44 It has flat characters that you don't care about. It's predictable. The cgi is crappy.

  • @windowzombie Actaully the fact that 1 character looked like Simon Pegg and one looked like Ryan Dunn I loved the characters and was pretty sad when they both died. Wasn't predictable at all. And the Cgi was alright. Your point is invailled

  • @9Y0 Thank you, and, in my opinion, it shouldn't have been made. If someone watches the prequel first, it just ruins the beginning. When I first saw The Thing, I had no idea what was wrong with the dog, and it was a surprise. A surprise that is ruined in the pointless prequel. That's also why I am angered by the prequels (besides Jar Jar) They ruin the surprise that Vader is Luke's father. *tangent over*

  • I think the part where the dog walks into Norris's room is where he transforms him.

  • @Gaaraissomineforever Possible. Later on, notice how Norris declines being a leader after the confrontation with Windows at the gun rack. This clearly indicates the Thing wants to operate in the background, silently taking over each team member one by one until no one is left. It could not do that had Norris accepted being the "point man" to hold Garry's gun. Carpenter is very good in pacing the film like this.

  • Stevie Wonder, "CRAP!" That's blasphemy! :) SPOILER: Good thing his character didn't live to know the real meaning of the world with the music out today.

  • they came in from around the mountain, if they came in over it. they may have saw that Sea King helicopter crash site.

  • even if it isnt really a dog,it killing americans...good job boy..

  • @804safety looks like somebodys jealous were rich and not insane wierdos lol

  • @804safety either ur a troll looking for attention or ur a douche.

  • @804safety Ok, jump on the hate america bandwagon, このあほう。

  • ive only watched to part 2 im guessing it has something to do with the dog, good cause as a animal liberator i love seeing animals kill humans....liberate all labratory animals....ha ha ha ,too bad no cops get killed....cheers from canada...(A)///(E)

  • @804safety You are so obviously a troll that it physically hurts me. Thank you XD

  • Comment removed

  • I don't understand why the crew didn't check the dog first, not to see if it was the Thing(obviously) but if the dog was aggressive or not..XD

  • @xWolfandBowserFanx It seemed friendly, but they probably, after seeing the lengths the two Norwegians went to to kill this thing, at least examined the dog, or isolated it in case of disease.

  • what happened to the guy with the slit neck in the chair?

  • @wickedjesterboi What u think :L

  • @SoraAssassin5843 Superstition by Stevie Wonder

  • The prequel tried SO hard to get it right and the thing I heard they got wrong was the lack of slime and creative creatures.

  • The shadow @ 4:57 is Palmer, i guess thats how he got infected.

  • @greatwhite217 Based on the body outline and the slight perm I place my bet in it being Norris.

  • @manhoot Yeah i think ur right!

  • @SoraAssassin5843 Stevie Wonder - Superstition

  • what happened to kate? haha

  • Did anyone else notice that reflection of someone walking at 4:49 in the corner???

  • @IPLAYMOVIES4FREE its the dog's reflection. idk how the dog got its reflection in there but if you look carefully the motions you see are the same as the dog's

  • The prequel was so badass! I loved it just as much as this, and that's incredibly hard to do with a John Carpenter classic.

    5/5 for both films.

  • "My God...What the hell happened here?"

    "The prequel."

  • @MyGalileo7 So the Prequel is worth watching? I kinda backed off when the rating was 6.2 in IMDB...

  • @Beleverdi NNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stay as far away from the prequel as POSSIBLE

  • @MrIHunter1 why? the prequel was really good and it filled up the blanks.

  • @MyGalileo7 "What next?"

    "The Original"

  • @MyGalileo7

I just saw the prequel. It was good. Not as great as this film but certainly entertaining.

  • @MyGalileo7 It's designed that way so that people can use their imagination. Of coarse, prequels are made for people with no imagination. Without seeing the prequel, I can tell you what happened. An alien life form able to imitate lifeforms crashed many years ago in Antarctica and froze in the ice. Then, a team of Norwegians uncovered it. It slowly imitated and killed each life form until it was only a dog. That dog left the camp and the Norwegians that were left attempted to destroy it.

  • @MrGhostblood Actually, prequels are for people who wants to see this happen, not for those who dont understand what happened

  • @MrDadouw

well also prequals are for the extra popularity...which compares alot 2 what u said...take alien for example....their currently making a prequal based on the famous "space jokey"...so like u said..fans just want prequals because they want to know what happened, or whos that...i love talking about these things....anybody can be a critic..either realy good....or a real dick

  • @MyGalileo7 The fuck you talking about? Prequel was good.

  • @SecuR0M I never said it wasn't.

  • @SecuR0M

Agreed. It really filled in the blanks of this one. Dude asked what happend and the prequel answer the question. It answered so many questions of this movie and people say it sucked? I thought it was great.

  • @MyGalileo7 imagine if the same film crew made the prequel , that would be awesome

  • @MyGalileo7 STFU

  • that seen at 351 looks very cold eery lonely most people would snap give me snowmobiles quads lots lots booze drugs drop some women off time to time i could stay there until death

  • the dogs all the way oscar oscar

  • Fantastic Prequel! The Thing 2011 rocks!

  • THUBGS UP IF YOUR NOT WATCHING IF THE DOG DIESz!!!!

  • this dog totally got snubbed for an oscar...

  • @weis091 Yeah, the animal acting in this movie IS fantastic

  • Okay, am I the only one who watched this before going to the Prequal and compare what Curt Russle finds thats in the Prequal. I found a tone of stuff.

  • haha i love it: the prequel really stayed true to the original film. the norwegian helicopter had incendiary grenades and kerosene which was shown in the prequel

  • i knew it was Palmer who was "the thing"..the dog got him

  • @moorevayne that was not Palmer, it was Norris.

  • I honestly dont know why people BITCH about the prequel...its all about the movie being new...I think it's worth watching the prequel they gripped the concept of everything perfectly in my opinion... :P plus its much better then making an ENTIRE REMAKE O___O....now those suck

  • @MsMightyCupCake The Thing (1982) IS a remake of The Thing from Another World

  • @MsMightyCupCake I respect ur oppinion and agree about remakes (the Nightmare on ELm st. made me cry) but the prequal didn't give that feeling of paranoia since the new thing blew its cover when someone looked at it funny. Plus the new thing had no creative changes it just turned into that spider thing every time. To be honest I didn't thing a prequal NEEDED to be made, what happened in the Norwegian base was much scarier when it was implied and left to the imagination.

  • haha, guy in the chair looks a lil like J.K Simmons! srry, keep in mind i havent seen the prequel.....

  • porque esta el titulo en español y hablan en ingles? no entiendo nada

  • man im glad i watched this after the haunted house at halloween horror nights

  • Wow! Stevie Wonder...it has been quite some time since i last heard him...
