The pellets I recommend are hunting pellets for target, not the flat nosed kind. And those go up to 2xfaster cause I shot a running squirrel about 13yrds and hit it in the neck.
is this .177? 7.9gr is a light pellet and gives higher velocity but less of a whack.I bought one of these brand new 10 months ago.It acted like a pile of shit, couldn't hit anything with it,Took it back to the shop and guess what? The barrel was bent upwards, and no, i never was responsilble for that. hmmm, anyway now they straightened it maybe i'll get some good results out of it.Got a better trigger than my BSA Comet
IN "Canada" if you want to buy airgun without your PAL it will only be 495fps or less. If you have a PAL (Possession + Acquisition License) You can purchase the high velocity models over 500fps. When the airgun company does their testing in velocity they use the lightest pellet possible to arrive at their max vlelocity claim. Not the heavier (usually) more accurate pellet. You will NEVER be over the max!
How many rounds am i going to shoot through this rifle before it gives me major problems? Whats the life of the gun in other words? Some people saying the spring chamber gives out at 2500 pellets.
Good testing, however the velocity claims aren't incorrect as Crosman claims up to 1000 fps. Now if Crosman had said something other than up to 1000 fps, then yeah they would be incorrect. I guess it just depends on what type of pellet you're using, but from what I saw in this video it's still produces some decent velocities for the cost.
@varmintgetter For the unlicensed people, yes.. 500 fps is the max velocity rifle you can buy. Once you get your PAL however, you can buy and own any rifles (pellet or real deal) you want.
@MaartenOwnd basically the best pellet is the one that is most accurate to be honest. Velocity is somewhat relative if you cannot get it to target. In powerplants like this, I tend to sort it out with lighter weight pellets
i saw this beeman dual cal at walmart for $100 and a crosman 1000 for $110
i am wondering 1.if the have they same exact velocity with standard .177 lead pellets (of about 1000fps), 2.how long will the gun last, and 3.which of the two you would you recommend.
Please reply i really want a 1000fps with standard .177 lead break barrel gun that i will be happy with and that will easily able me to snipe out squirrels and birds from about one street over or from three houses down the street.
I got a Quest that was shooting ~905fps with 7.9 Crosman. Chopped off 5" of the barrel and it's still getting ~880fps. Roughly ~500 pellets through it and still shooting strong.
depends on the pellets i saw a review where with light hobby pellets it got to 1000 fps but with heavier more accurate pellets it got around your range
I just got this air rifle yesterday, along with some 5.4 RWS Hypermax alloy pellets. They may be fast, but the wind will grab them like crazy VS. lead.
I still have yet to "zero" the scope, but like the air rifle so far. Squirrels and rabits be warned!
@varmintgetter it depends on what kind of pellets your using. i tested mine this morning and i got 995 on the first shot. i was using diabolo basic pellets i think they are like 7 gr. what kind of pellets were you using?
@skaterat217 7.9 gr crosman premiers...personally I'm happy with this velocity..because look at the spread! I haven't shot this since as I have other projects to deal with..but I'm gonna put more content on soon.
yes they always rate these guns on the lightest pellet 6.5-7.5gr but now they use 5.2 hypermax to rate pellets. and these light pellets lose energy fast downrange except for 5.4gr skenco pellets. this is a sales pitch to impress you and make you buy gun.
Rick at AirGunWeb gives you the results as they appear on the chrony readout.Any insinuation that he inflates because of Pyramid Air's sponsorship of him is untrue.Rick is an honest and honorable man. The discrepancy in fps is most likely due to the fact that Crosman Premiums come in 10.5 grain AND 7.9 grain versions and the box looks the same from a short distance.Varmintgetter is most likely using the Crosman Premier 10.5's.That is why he gets the same reading as Rick with the Kodiaks.
OK here we are this gun dose not shot 7000 fps that it is just bs they wouldent sell that for only 100 dallor and would be just like an air rifle ur saything this fps doubles a 50 cal barrets ok a barret shots about 3 miles and can still kill you anf can take out tanks in cars this thing shotts about 150 yards for a kill but that kill is only birds squirls so plus cant eve kill large came bs!
@haner90 I have no clue what you are referring to...I think some people forgot to see the screen clearly, there is a decimal point. I got about 780 fps
if it's lead....common bb's are .175" so it slips right thru the bore and...since it's steel, it will ruin the rifling. In addition, the piston might be fried because of lack of back pressure and the piston slams into the compression tube
Over oiling the chamber will cause dieseling..may boost velocity, but will be very erratic and inconsistent giving very poor accuracy and eventually fry the piston seal. Initial few shots brand new has some oil in it and will boost velocity (hence some might see some smoke).
gun works fine...videoed this to test two things...how much the public really know about airguns in terms of performance...so far, everybody believes that speed is what counts and not realize how nice the shot string velocities are (potential for really awesome spring gun accuracy.THATs what's important in airgunning) and the fact that many still are in the dark about true airgunning performance measurements.
i think you may have gotten a "dud" . airgunwebs did a vid of this same gun and he got those velocities with kodiaks 10.6 gr. that gun should get 900 fps with 7.9gr pellets
These can be had for under $200 (with the light kit, not necessary if is outdoors..these Chrony F1 goes for under $100 easy) and it can measure powder charged projectiles Be sure to open the chronograph flat as many people can slightly fold these Chronys and claim super fast velocities.
Idea for firearms usage is safe velocity to load AND/OR get initial velocity and workout a drop at various distances to maximize your hit ratio.
hey they do the test with none lead pellets they use pba pellets which shoot faster but nice vid

FPS could drop due to pellets. But thanks for the video.

(to anyone) can you use metal BBs in this gun or any other .177? PLEASE REPLY!

@AFluffySheltie You can, but it will mess with the rifling in the barrel. Which, is a bad thing.

Do u oil or gun? You need to buy crosman silicone chamber oil it might help pick up fps.
