I love the song but this video is shit. Serious, do something different, you're rapping about joe piscopo, goldilocks and the flintstones but you're scowling like your the typical gangster bs...which I'm glad your not.
their from Brooklyn and there are plenty of sewers in Jersey and this was the style back in the day, raw, gritty, no flashy bullshit, bitches shakin ass in the video. You can't get no more raw that the sewage. Reall hip Hop!
yo i remember when these dudes dropped. it was like a bomb exploded on the hip hop scene. their style was grimey and the flow was sick. they got you in that zone where you just bobbin your head from beginning to end,

I should have read back my stuff before I had sent it out! I made a lot of typo's, but the meaning is the same. Only college radio stations play real hip hop now. It is crazy! How can we go from, "self-construction" to "N-words" and violence?! The drug selling and doing thing is crazy too! Rappers from the old school NEVER glorified that shit before EVER!!!!! They knew what crack did to our communities and now it's cool???!!
This may be old school but any rapper out there today can not match the skills or lyrical assult from rappers like KRS-ONE RAKIM, EPMD, STATASOINIC, MASTA ACE, UTFO, NAUGTY BY NATURE, DIGTAL UNDERGROUND, X- CLAN , AZ,SLICK RICK , DANE DANE, DOUGIE FRESH, MANTROIX AND MORE
What happenedtothese guys? They wer New York, Before Pac and B.I.G, and they rapped when rap rap was getting hard in New York! Jeru The Damaga, Gangstar, Erik Sermon, Redman, Keith Murray, Bennie Man, what a grea fucking time then. Rap is so lame now with the fake beefs, and "Myspace gangsta's" only kids from the suburbs listen to this shit now!!
I here you everything now in rap has no substance or meaning like these cats had but violents nd sexs sales but any rapper today could never match up to the one of old
Check out my playlist on my page. I know tru hip hop heads won't be dissapointed. TRUE classics on there. put it on random and let that shit roll. Will take you back I promise. Also got some mos def and talib on there anythign thats current are the artist today trying to keep real hip hop alive. Won't find wayne 50 game soulja boi on this list. NUTTIN BUT REAL MUSIC HERE!!
90s was the Golden Era of hip hop. it will never get to that level again. Boot Camp, DITC, Nas, Pac, Biggie in their primes. Tribe De La Soul.....on and on
its still there man, its just underground... like it always has been! all the greats that are still around still do shows, still have new stuff coming out. its just not advertised on MTV or your local radio stations.
HGaha, Im tired of hearing that shit. man. We didnt have to go undergorund back in the 90s and 80s. the shit was already there in the mainstream. Underground shit was even better. But U did prove your point, HH sux so much no, U have to go underground. Damn Shame.
yeah you right...i often hear people saying 2pac or something like this is oldschool..i would rather consider it as..true skool :) thats how many people call it...cause if you say new school someone can think you hearing lil wayne or some shit like that
WHAT!!!! New Skool? are u kidding me? nah not at all. This is Old Skool Golden Age Real Hip Hop and not be classified as New Skool. This is not new at all. Sayin this is New Skool is classifying this with this bullshit they play on the radio today and that's a mockery.. no no no don't do that!
Thats not what im trying to say. new school is classified as anything after run dmc and ll cool j. before that like jimmy spicer, melle mel,dj love bug starski those are considered old schhol. I suggest the book "cant stop wont stop" by jeff chang.
wukilla is saying that he read somewhere that there is a technical difference between music after run dmc and i get that, but this is old school. that definition of old school is obsolete. this song will never be known but fans or music appreciators as "new school"
I understand what u mean.. Most people's personal definition of "old school" seems more based on the timeframe passed instead of the style of music. When this came out I remember old shool hour on the radio which was a very different style from this- which WAS considered "new school" at the time. So this is really just 'old' new school cuz its obviously not new music but its still not the same sound as original old school..
You need to learn you history on hip hop and the culture. I suggest you read "Can't stop Won't stop: a history of the hip hop generation" by Jeff Chang
It's hardly "new" shit's like what? 18-19 years old? Time to grow w/ the times. this shit is OLD!.......... and classic. The fact that this was "new" school back in the day does NOT make it NEW school STILL. 2 more years and it's 2 decades old lmfao.
Most songs on the radio now have silly anthems or dances. Hip hop is a powerful tool that can influence how you think and feel. The Golden Era of Hip Hop encouraged listeners to question authority and the state of the world. So it was followed by an effort to dumb it down. Bill Clinton signed the 1996 Telecommunications Act which allowed the big boys to buyup all the stations. Then you have the same mind numbing programming nation wide. Thtas why mainstream HH is where its at now, WACK
Yeah I know.. Its just another easier, more effective, and less noticeable way of censoring the music. Remember during the golden era, they were blatantly censoring shit because the subject matter was becoming too violent & more political, they didn't want society to hear about the violent screwed up surroundings (the government helped create) that the artists at the time spoke of. There was an uproar in the media about the free speech issue etc.. I remember all the trials and shit.
So in order for the government to avoid controversy over banning free speech in music again, its makes sense for them to push dumb music, which in effect makes all the concious meaningful music take the backburner, keeping the masses blind. Its a less direct approach but equally effective. They push pop music but they call it 'Hip Hop' so that kids will think they know about this thing called Hip Hop. That way they'll never seek out what real Hip Hop is...and never find an outlet for truth.
Well yeah, even so they're still mostly dumb as shit (how most of society is). Some are just ignorant to the underground (they don't know even about it) so you can't always blame em. I still break out the boombox at times and nothing gets played but underground raw shit. A lotta youngsters will be like "who's that?" askin about it cuz usually they think it sounds ill. So I think thats one better way of spreadin the realness, instead of complainin about it on the internet like most ppl do.
agreed. like im 18 and thats all i listen to. its either 77-mid nineties or i try to find new artists with classic tastes and meaningful content. my friends call me boombox benjamin cuz i rock the box haha. being able to explain that hip hop is art and playing new music with substance to back it up is the only way to combat the new trash on the charts
Now they are pushing Hip POP, pop music and passing it as HIP HOp, just because it has a HH image. So said, the sheeples are blind all over the place. I have a feeling most of the mainstream artists (current) are Illuminati meat puppets. lol
This is the shit....I remember these days....fuck do I remember these days. I cant even watch niggas nowadays, as you said...its all Bentleys and Bitches and Ho's...back then it just was what it was....niggas jammed up in some shitty hallway in Brooklyn spitting the truth.
ahh take dat souljah bitch & lil wayne! dese ppl cant say shyt about dis hip-hop.dey probably kno nuttin bout dis hip-hop here.dis is wen hip-hop was BLACK.
Notice how most songs on the radio now are idiotic and brain dead anthems or dances. Think about it, hip hop is a powerful tool that can influence how you think and feel. The Golden Era of Hip Hop encouraged listeners to question authority and the state of the world. So it was followed by an assertive effort to dumb it down. Bill Clinton signed the 1996 Telecommunications Act which allowed the big boys to buy up all the stations. Hence you have the same mind numbing programming nation wide.
One of the best all-time hip-hop artists, they fling the rhymes with the verve and artistry of virtuosi....it's like as if Lewis Carroll lived today, and instead of writing "Alice in Wonderland", and tallking about "..twas Brillig, and the slithy toves, did gyre and gimble in the waves..." he was spitting out these rhymes! Great great group, and much too underrated!
I just blew my speakers bumpin dis shit! Yo!off the fuckin hook Sun word up! I was a teenager when dis shit first came out - this kinda hip hop makes u wanna smack Kanye,Soulja,BowWow and all them other studio thugs like red headed step kids!
it actaully feels great to be a 37 year old man in 2009. because i get to brag about how my HIPHOP GENERATION was better than this new shit that the young guys are listing to today.
this DAS EFX song was out in the early 1990's, & all the clubs back then used to be bumpin this song back then.
it brings back memories for me in my early 20's, rocking the KARL KANI jeans with the TIMBERLAND boots on, & the "CHAMPION" hoodie : )
Yo for all ya youngsters dat want 2hear some sick shit. Type in Das Efx Baknaffek its a song of their second album. Their 2nd album wasnt as popular 4 some reason but this song is tight Son!!!!!!!!
These Modafukas is da Sshitss!!!! I was 18 when all this shit was out Son! These Niggas R from Brownsville Bklyn SON! Represent YO!!!!!!!!!!!!! BKLYN 4 EVER KIDDDDDDDDDDDDD
This track is da shit, the lyrics and the tight ass beat. I was about 7 yrs old when this came out. But im glad to say that i love the REAL HIP-HOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We know not much about cassettes... Not much not much... I know because i'm 14 so wasn't around for hip hops best times. Only cassette i got is early UGK which can't be found on CD. Young or not though i'm not caught up in fake hip hop and rap like most people where i live. MF DOOM, Percee P, Chip Fu, Aesop Rock, A Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep, and Public Enemy are some of my all time favorites, and i wish hip hop was still kicking it like this for my generation...
This track certified Eric Sermon as 1 of the illest producers in NY. With that sick guitar sample loop straight from the cotton fields of the South, added to a simple but complex Brooklyn beat, and that scratch of James Brown took it over the top. CLASSIC. Rocked every club or house party I went to. Sounded even better when drunk.
Today's Rap for the most part is a total joke... I mean I give dudes like TI today their props but they are few and far between... I will say that from the late 80's to the late 90's was the golden age of Hip Hop and Rap and then the assholes took over and ruined it
So many cats bit there style after they dropped! If u listen 2 early Missy, like her verses on JODECI'S second album, straight das!! But people 4get these dudes were lyrical, U just have 2 listen!!
Bone Thugz and Harmony stole their shit lmao... Even though I liked them back in the day, they def stole their style off Das EFX... No argument about it!!!
Sorry homie but Bone Thugz style came straight from the underground Memphis sound. Early 8 Ball and MJG, Playa Fly, Triple 6, Skinny Pimp and others. If you know about these folks then you know that this was before Das Efx. Not to mention there were several battle/dis songs made between TN and OH.
man i wish the music was like this now the shit out now sucks. my dad told me to listen to das efx,krs one, ghost face killah, and others.I will never go back to the stuff i used to listen to
seen these diggity dudes perform at the kniggity knitting factory in niggity ny, show was biggity bananas, mad blunts was being passed around, henny stashes from jiggity jackets, OE figgity 40's....GREAT TIME!!!

Rap never turned to shit, just the "talent" producers waste their time on. Rap is one of the best forms of artistic expression ever invented.

it actaully feels great to be a 37 year old man in 2009. because i get to brag about how my HIPHOP GENERATION was better than this new shit that the young guys are listing to today.
this DAS EFX song was out in the early 1990's, & all the clubs back then used to be bumpin this song back then.
it brings back memories for me in my early 20's, rocking the KARL KANI jeans with the TIMBERLAND boots on, & the "CHAMPION" hoodie : )

Dammm this was my jam back in the day, had this on cassette, what ya youngins know about cassette tapes....lol
hrdtxs 3 years ago

I will say that from the late 80's to the late 90's was the golden age of Hip Hop and Rap and then the assholes took over and ruined it
dl30wpb 3 years ago 5
I concur..
chuckchizzle 3 years ago
There are a lot of talented rappers but only a few can match Das Efx. This is true Hardcore rap.

So many cats bit there style after they dropped! If u listen 2 early Missy, like her verses on JODECI'S second album, straight das!! But people 4get these dudes were lyrical, U just have 2 listen!!
rametep100 3 years ago 3
Bone Thugz and Harmony stole their shit lmao... Even though I liked them back in the day, they def stole their style off Das EFX... No argument about it!!!
dl30wpb 3 years ago
Sorry homie but Bone Thugz style came straight from the underground Memphis sound. Early 8 Ball and MJG, Playa Fly, Triple 6, Skinny Pimp and others. If you know about these folks then you know that this was before Das Efx. Not to mention there were several battle/dis songs made between TN and OH.
mrcorey613 3 years ago
man i wish the music was like this now the shit out now sucks. my dad told me to listen to das efx,krs one, ghost face killah, and others.I will never go back to the stuff i used to listen to
