@ikefemula you dont understand (ali had a good chance).... and upset is like mike tyson vs buster douglas! a guy that is in his prime vs a guy u have never heard of... Everyone looked to see if the great Ali could beat a powerhouse like foreman. And he did, thats not an upset...
1 lloyd honeyghan bt don curry. 2 buster douglas bt mike tyson. 3 gene fulmer bt ray robinson. 4 jess willard bt jack johnson. 5 hasim rahman bt lennox lewis. they are the ones that stand out to me.
benn v mcclellan (yes the fight ended tragically, but it was a huge upset, because of the devastating early knockdown of benn in round 1..he was the heavy underdog, and was temporarily unconcious)
lewis v rahman 1
A shocker because lewis was thought to have learned from his mistakes years ago- and had fought better opponents before it..and in many regards rahman was widely unknown.
@tessie755 Damn good list. Two fights on this list Chavez Randell and Hearns Barkley were huge upsets. Especially Hearns Barkley. Barkley was being beat brutality in that 3rd rd. Hearns left hooks to the body had all but immobilized Barkley. Barkley was one tough dude.
@MrYankeefan228 ...............Are you being serious...Frankie Randall was a three times world champion... Not just the first man to knock down and beat Chavez.....He also TKO'd another legend Edwin Rosario.....and he never accomplished anything else!!..............You got high standards if that is sucking ass and never doing anything.
@Davidmh1971 Oh, Randell tko another legend? The Rosario, that Randell beat was TKO in the 1st against Akinobu Hiranaka in his last title defense and even at that he had Randell down in the 2nd rd of that fight. Remember Rosario, soundly defeated Randell in 1985. With ease. Randell himself had been stopped by a Journeymen fighter in Primo Ramos. Don't try and skew Randell into being this great fighter. He wasn't and his win over Chavez was a huge upset.
My Top 5 Greatest Upsets: 5. Hasim Rachman vs. Lennox Lewis I 4. Marcos Antonio Barrera vs. Naseem Hamed 3. Frankie Randall vs. Julio Cesar Chavez 2. "Sugar" Ray Leonard vs. Marvin Hagler *1. Larry Holmes vs. Ray Mercer
because Golota was seen as a favourite before a fight
there were prediction of ring magazine of mini-tournament between Tyson, Hollyfield, Golota, Lewis
they predict Hollyfield to beat Tyson, Golota beat Lewis and Golota winning Holly in the final becoming heavyweight undisputed champion of the world back then in 1997.
@funkykoval78 when the betting opened lewis was a 9-5 favourite, come the fight the odds dropped and golota was just a slight favourite....even so hardly a huge upset....anyway...whatever
Didnt agree with the Moorer, Klit or Morrison ones. Douglas V Tyson is the greatest upset in sports history imo. Jones V Tarver had a schocking outcome but it wasnt shocking that Tarver won. He could of won the first fight
Ali beating Foreman is number one,IMO. Have to remember how inviincible Foreman looked at that time. He was knocking motherfuckers the fuck out.He knocked Frazier up in the air. Ali beating Liston was also a huge upset.Liston was just what Foreman was, invincible,Spinks upsetting Ali could be number two,I guess

Moorer - Holyfield was a big upset, yes, but not top 5 material. Morrison - Bennt was an average upset. Bennt isn't bad and Morrison isn't great. Klitschko - Sanders, was an unexpected upset but Klitschko was still green so, again, not top 5 material. Jones Jr. - Tarver was a big upset, big enough to be top 10 but, in my opinion, not top 5. Tyson - Douglas was the biggest upset of all time. Douglas was a 42 - 1 underdog and schooled Tyson!
i agree tyson is better than douglas, however tyson was clearly knocked out, you can see he is badly shaken when tryin to get back up and has no legs under him but this was the stage in mike tysons life where he had been livin a lifestyle other than boxin, he wasnt training very hard and was partying way too much, i think he may have even missed a few training sessions, but i wish i couldve seen tyson train well and knock that fucker out.
What a ridiculous list. Ever heard of Floyd Patterson and Sonny Liston? Even a regular championship fight, like Hameed-Barrera, would beat most of your inconsequential choices. Who the hell is Bennt?

@squig792000 Are you a convict like your buddy Tyson? Seeing Buster beat the hell out of a schoolyard bully like Tyson was priceless. Don King couldn't stand it!
You forgot Ali vs Foreman. Everyone thought Ali would get killed, cause Foreman, in 2 rounds, knocked out the only two fighters who had beaten Ali, Smokin' Joe Frazier and Kenny Norton.
Ali knocked Foreman in the 7th round. Now that's a massive upset.
Morrison vs Bennt??? upset? haha no no no!!! absolutely not! Morrison had only met thomato cans before and had a glass jaw! He got ko'ed eazy everytime he met a big name!
Everybody knows that before color tv no sport moments were special. That goes for boxing upsets, baseball games, or whatever else happened before 1960 something.
I have no idea what the Vegas odds were, but I don't remember Moorer over Holyfield as any big shocking upset. I thought he would win. He was the former LHW champ and had been built up in the boxing press for a couple years as a possible future HW champ/contender. Foreman over Moorer was definitely the bigger shock. Also, the Morrison loss has to be viewed as an upset, but top five of all time? He was a talented but over-inflated fighter who got caught in an exchange.
wen moorer nodds his head like yes takin the piss out of holyfield maes watching the rematch so great holyfield gave moore a tough fight with heart problems then killed him in the rematch
@lee1990lee when holyfield was examined by doctors from the nevada state boxing commission to see if he was healthy enough too be givin a licends too fight they said this . holyfield did not have a heart attack in the ring the heart condition he has came from long term hgh and steriod use . look it up
if this is this guys opinion then it is what it is...i dont understand why people are saying he must be kidding...you must be a retard if you think everyone is gonna have the same opinion...so bam...i used your own logic against you...kinda
I think it's unfair to say this list is pathetic, because he highlighted upsets that most people forget.. Ali vs Liston or Braddock vs Baer, Liston vs Patterson are too common and well known.
@mobbinthrudabay The odds for Douglas to win were 42-1. That means if you bet $1 on Douglas to win, you would have won $42. If you had bet $2, you'd have won $84 and so on...
Besides Douglas beating Tyson, I'd say your list is pathetic. What about Ali beating Liston (or Foreman for that matter). Honeyghan beating Don Curry? Joe Walcott beating Ray Robinson? Ingemar Johansson KO'ing Floyd Patterson? Braddock (Cinderella Man) beating Max Baer? NOW THEY WERE UPSETS.
@jaikaransingh I'm sorry that it upsets you that I had to point out that the "headline" to this video was completely laughable. You're obviously completely unknowledgeable in the history of boxing. Now my suggestion is that it should be YOU who "grows up"...or better still. grow a brain. :-)
@mmotorway damn you are some kind of dense fool. Look its simple the guy who made this vid did it with regards based of HIS knowledge and in HIS opinion. ITS that simple. Thank him for the post and that it. IF you dont agree with his selection... well he invited others to make their own and present it. If you know SOOO much post your version and why. thus educating all of us "unknowledgeables" btw dont worry what I know, but you can be sure to bet I have class and consideration.
@mmotorway I think this video was a pretty good list. The ones you mentioned certainly were huge upsets too. Maybe if this video was labelled differently we could all get along, lol. Anyway here's some of my honorable mentions from the recent past. Leonard-Hagler, Lennox's two losses, Kostya Tszyu's KO loss to Vince Phillips, Pacquiao - DLH, Foreman - Moorer, BHop- Tarver, Mosley- Margarito. I think Jacobs - Pirog deserves a mention for this year.
@mmotorway You're a 47 year old as am I. Maybe this poster is a kid and these are the fights he has taped or something. Johansson Patterson wasn't a particularly big upset, the Swede was a KO artist and Floyd had a lousy chin. Max Bear didn't take boxing too seriously so not a particularly big surprise with hindsight. Watching Jones get KO'd is always a treat and the US boxing media have as good as buried Curry getting stopped by Honeyghan, so this Mexican probably hasn't heard of it..
@Maxshard Here's one that just came to mind. Remember Bernard Hopkins beating Felix Trinidad. Now we all know that Hopkins became "a great"...but at that time, Trinidad was considered pretty much invincible at middleweight.
@glutamin111 Ali was underdog 7-1 against Liston, true, but against Foreman he was only 3-1 underdog. Read 11.11.1974 Sports Illustrated-article Breaking A Date For The Dance, where it's been mentioned.
@1978utreg Good call. What a KO that was. He was 45 when he did that to Moorer. How Foreman let Ali beat him I'll never know. He just didn't take the Rumble in the Jungle seriously enough. Ali was training at altitute in Zaire for weeks, while Foreman was back home shooting adverts for General Motors. Unprofessional really...but what a fighter.
@mmotorway It depends on what you'd consider an upset. When Ali beat Liston Ali was an 8 to 1 betting under dog but was that really an upset? Was Liston the better figther? It was the publics misconception at that particular time but I think we all know who the better boxer was.
Now Tyson Douglas obviously was a legitimate upset considering the odds and the fact that Tyson was the better fighter.
I'd say Schmeling Louis 1 was also a big upset cause the better fighter lost.
@mmotorway i think the morrison one was a massive upset. moorer vs foreman was way bigger then moorer vs holyfield. the sanders upset was huge at the time defenitly the biggest upset since I've been watching boxing. my personal list would be 1. sanders vs klitscho. 2, johnson vs jones, 3. pavlick vs hopkins. 4. taylor vs hopkins, 5. hopkins vs trinadad
@mmotorway joe walcott never fought ray robinson they never were in the same weight class and if you meant joe louis he never beat him he should have got the decision in the 1st fight!!!!
heavyweight? : Clearly Tyson vs. Douglas, Lewis vs. Rahman 1, Ali vs. Foreman and Klitschko vs. Purritty

Cassius Clay's drubbing of Sonny Liston in 1962 (?) Archie Moore's comeback to kayo Yvonne Durelle in about 1958 (He'd been down like 4-5 times)
Floyyd Patterson re-gaining the title from Ingo Johansson in about 1960. . . by a knockout.
Hurricane Carter's Kayo of Emile Griffiths in about 1962. 2nd round, if I remember right
42 year old Archie Moore actually lasting 5 rounds against Rocky Marciano

I have no idea what the Vegas odds were, but I don't remember Moorer over Holyfield as any big shocking upset. I thought he would win. He was the former LHW champ and had been built up in the boxing press for a couple years as a possible future HW champ/contender. Foreman over Moorer was definitely the bigger shock. Also, the Morrison loss has to be viewed as an upset, but top five of all time? He was a talented but over-inflated fighter who got caught in an exchange.

this guy must have been kidding this was the worst list ever
i didnt even recognize anyone but tyso douglas and jones who the hell were the rest of them
what about clay over liston
holmes over ali
etc
correction this list is pathetic
JUSTME543212345 1 year ago
@JUSTME543212345 Ali was well past his prime, while holmes was on his way up and a 2-1 favorite , how can you call that an upset?

i dont like the music...oa
mrlemuelthegreat1 1 year ago
I think it's unfair to say this list is pathetic, because he highlighted upsets that most people forget.. Ali vs Liston or Braddock vs Baer, Liston vs Patterson are too common and well known.
expressivechild 1 year ago
the odds fore tyson vs buster 42-1 ok, what exactly does that mean?
someone please answer.
mobbinthrudabay 1 year ago
@mobbinthrudabay The odds for Douglas to win were 42-1. That means if you bet $1 on Douglas to win, you would have won $42. If you had bet $2, you'd have won $84 and so on...
saintcasper91 1 year ago
Biggest upsets in boxing! Are you having a laugh?
Besides Douglas beating Tyson, I'd say your list is pathetic. What about Ali beating Liston (or Foreman for that matter). Honeyghan beating Don Curry? Joe Walcott beating Ray Robinson? Ingemar Johansson KO'ing Floyd Patterson? Braddock (Cinderella Man) beating Max Baer? NOW THEY WERE UPSETS.

@mmotorway
Absolutely correct.
caspergolightly 1 year ago
@mmotorway exactly whoever made that list must be 8 years old and know nothing of history of the marques of queensberry
jimpurdie 1 year ago
@jimpurdie do you have a list? even if the answer is yes, show some class and humilty, the made "his", thus his opinion.
grow up

@mmotorway Quiet, take these hints to grow up
jaikaransingh 1 year ago
@jaikaransingh I'm sorry that it upsets you that I had to point out that the "headline" to this video was completely laughable. You're obviously completely unknowledgeable in the history of boxing. Now my suggestion is that it should be YOU who "grows up"...or better still. grow a brain. :-)
mmotorway 1 year ago
@mmotorway damn you are some kind of dense fool. Look its simple the guy who made this vid did it with regards based of HIS knowledge and in HIS opinion. ITS that simple. Thank him for the post and that it. IF you dont agree with his selection... well he invited others to make their own and present it. If you know SOOO much post your version and why. thus educating all of us "unknowledgeables" btw dont worry what I know, but you can be sure to bet I have class and consideration.
jaikaransingh 1 year ago
@jaikaransingh I know that you're an idiot, but don't beat yourself up over it...you can't help it...it's just the way God made you.
If you read my first post here...you'll see that I have suggested an alternative list.
Just because you know nothing about boxing...doesn't mean you can't learn.

SamLangford1 1 year ago
@SamLangford1 Now that's a list I like! :-)
mmotorway 1 year ago
@mmotorway You're a 47 year old as am I. Maybe this poster is a kid and these are the fights he has taped or something. Johansson Patterson wasn't a particularly big upset, the Swede was a KO artist and Floyd had a lousy chin. Max Bear didn't take boxing too seriously so not a particularly big surprise with hindsight. Watching Jones get KO'd is always a treat and the US boxing media have as good as buried Curry getting stopped by Honeyghan, so this Mexican probably hasn't heard of it..
Maxshard 1 year ago
@Maxshard Here's one that just came to mind. Remember Bernard Hopkins beating Felix Trinidad. Now we all know that Hopkins became "a great"...but at that time, Trinidad was considered pretty much invincible at middleweight.

@mmotorway
ali beating liston can not possibly be compared with ali beating foreman. against liston he would be 7-1 dog but against foreman at least 20-1
glutamin111 1 year ago
@glutamin111 Ali was underdog 7-1 against Liston, true, but against Foreman he was only 3-1 underdog. Read 11.11.1974 Sports Illustrated-article Breaking A Date For The Dance, where it's been mentioned.

@mmotorway foreman beating moorer was also one of the greatest moments.
1978utreg 1 year ago
@1978utreg Good call. What a KO that was. He was 45 when he did that to Moorer. How Foreman let Ali beat him I'll never know. He just didn't take the Rumble in the Jungle seriously enough. Ali was training at altitute in Zaire for weeks, while Foreman was back home shooting adverts for General Motors. Unprofessional really...but what a fighter.
mmotorway 1 year ago
@mmotorway he said that's his version..why dont you pull out yr own video

@mmotorway Ali beating Liston? That's a laugh.....Liston took a dive.
warrkrymez 1 year ago
@warrkrymez I totally agree with you. I'd say he threw both fights.
mmotorway 1 year ago
@warrkrymez I agree he did throw the second fight but not the first.
bigsleep32 1 year ago
@mmotorway It depends on what you'd consider an upset. When Ali beat Liston Ali was an 8 to 1 betting under dog but was that really an upset? Was Liston the better figther? It was the publics misconception at that particular time but I think we all know who the better boxer was.
Now Tyson Douglas obviously was a legitimate upset considering the odds and the fact that Tyson was the better fighter.
I'd say Schmeling Louis 1 was also a big upset cause the better fighter lost.
bigsleep32 1 year ago
@mmotorway don't forget tarver's 2 wins over the legendary roy jones jr.
BeyondDestiny 1 year ago
