For those who don't know Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac aren't taxpayer funded but operate as PRIVATE companies. Taxpayers don't fund PRIVATE companies.
Basically, Palin doesn't know what the heck she's talking about. You can't fix the economy without knowing how it works.

McCain already downplayed the economy. He said he doesn't know much about it. Why should his VP? Just a minor detail about a huge part of our economy. If they call this a "misstatement" then we have a new definition of misstatement -- saying something that shows you have no conceptual understanding about a given subject.

Palin is such an intellectual lightweight it's not even funny because she could easily become president. Sadly, the strategy of the Republican ticket is to confuse people. Unfortunately, so many Americans are not invested in the facts or the issues. If they are confused, it becomes a popularity contest. This gives the mediocre a chance. The guy ranked 842 out of 899 and the Beauty Queen!
