Once I was coming back from a Halloween party before I left I gave her a piece of KFC chicken when I came back she was crying one of the prices was stuck in her throut I was able to get it out with tweezers also another Time a bone was in her mouth sideways

My dog was choking today. Her passage way was almost completely blocked and went unconscious due to lack of oxygen, so opening her mouth to swipe my finger in her throat was easy. The odd part was having to give her rescue breaths. Those thankfully brought her back and I then tried to get the piece of food dislodged. Thankfully this worked. I have no experience in this but was amazed at how adrenaline rushes can cause our instincts to kick in.

Tonight i bathed my friend's Pomeranian and after being all fluffy and behaving nicely despite having water poured on her. She got a treat a large piece of steak and wolfed the whole thing down and began to gasp and choke and drool. I started patting her on the back. I have no idea if Heimlich maneuver can be done on dogs. She gagged it up finally and it turned out to be a large piece of gristle. She could have died.

QUESTION: Would it work to use some of those loooooong, angled, needle-nose pliers that fishermen use to extract fishhooks from deep in a fish's mouth? Maybe buy a pair to keep in the doggie first aid kit? It seems that one of my dogs is always trying to steal something tasty to swallow whole. and maybe some kind of donut shaped chew toy to hold open the mouth. (My dogs would crush that tape roll.)

for people with big dogs like me we can just put our hand down there throat but is you have a smaller do it must be worse! i would try and squeeze it our by pushing there throat towards there mouth> my dog started choaking on food so i just made him drink some water and it was fine. watch out for rawhinds my dog spewed up a whole 3-6inch one because they dont break they just go soggy.

My dog was choking on a chicken bone one time(some moron gave it to her) I panicked and didn't know what to do, she looked like she was having a seizure and was pawing at her face. She looked like she was close to death and thought she might be dead by the time I got her to the vet. I did what you didn't advise to do, I stuck my hand down my dogs throat and pulled it out, she didn't bite me. She's a mastiff so she has a pretty big throat so I could get my hand in there.

why would you waste time grabbing a blanket/towel, cooling it with water then wrapping your dog in it while she's choking??? hello, just grab your dog,run to the car and race to the vet. dont run around the house while your dog is in distress, you just gotta get it help and not trying to wrap her up, shell most likely unwrap herself anyway during the ride while shes choking. duh.
