Hi Buddy, I have a 93 ford Truck E-350 1 Ton Econoline - Van and something happened with the transmission (automatic), full fluid level its OK but when into 1 and 2 .... the truck runs good but for 3rd and 4th the RPMs go up and up (foot on gas accelerating), but the truck doesn't speed up .... i'm stuck on 1st and 2nd...
Not very informative video..if any shade tree mech. tried a rebuild watching this vid. he would be in for a nightmare of a surprize! Your better off buying a professional rebuild video..but you gotta give anyone credit for doing it in the first place..
I would like to ad that all my comments and subscription vids are now routed to a new Gmail acc't. on my Smart (dumb) Phone these days. I often don't see comments right away, as a result. People have commented heavily on all 4 vids and sometimes answers to ques. might be found in here. Also you might note ads in the vids you can now click on. Maybe some of them might be relevant to parts or services related to these repairs. Thanks again for all the GREAT comments and don't hesitate to "Like" me
UPDATE UPDATE: Now is the New Year and time to update. Comments have been really great here. This vid has been popular. YouTube partnered with me because of it :-) Check the ads in my vids. First of all - I truly have LITTLE knowledge of trans. But I see other ques get answered by commenters here. GREAT FORUM :-) My trans is still hanging tight for 2.5 yrs. now. Z-28 At 125K. mi now :-) Outlasted my 3.23 Rear. Had to R&R to a junkyard unit (see vid soon). LT1 still hanging tough-knock on wood.
@racemup I watched these videos a while ago and just decided to watch it again. It still amazes me that someone got this done for next to nothing in cash and none of the special tools normally required for this shit. Very glad to hear it's still holding together! Great job on this.
Back yarders crack me up. First of all you don't have a CLUE of what your looking at. I have rebuilt countless back yarders units after they spend a few hundred on parts then put the unit together and miss splines on clutches, tear a pump gasket, put check balls in wrong place the combo drum at 9:00 is a really hard thing to do right for an inexperienced person. He calls accumulators servo, servo is on SIDE of case it applys the band, accumulator cushions shifts, one on back is fwd apply acum/cushion
At 3:03 the housing you called a servo is the 1-2 accumutator piston. One tip is to replace the OEM plastic piston with a aluminum piston to prevent any failures. whatever you do..do not block or remove those springs, at most go with a slightly stiffer spring for a firmer 1-2 shift.....nice video
Good job Dude!!! Smooth that seperator plate hole out where the ball ws stuck in it. . . and replace the ball with a larger one from a ford automatic trans and it will no longer wear the plate!
you really didn't have to remove the output shaft once you remove the snap ring. . . . Pull the front planet set once you remove snapring. . . then the shell and remove snapring for center support in the case. . Then tap otputshaft with a hammer to force center support uutta the case
Why, what's up with Dave's Farm? Is the Channel still up? I've been out of the country these past few months (see my most recent vids here, on shark fishing). Tranny still hammering hard. Noted a delay in full throttle upshift into high last time I raced, last year. Could be a factor as far as bracket racing is concerned.
Look at part 4. I bought a 1/2" drive metric socket from Sears. They grip the flats of the bolt instead of the corners. I had the trans low enough so I could get a long extension or two straight onto them. Tapped it on with a hammer (to get it past the rounded edges I had previously created) and then untorqued them with a breaker bar.
@racemup hi i really like your video i have similar transmission from 95 gmc 3500 vandura, and i wish to give it to you so you can rebuild it. If you can please email me at geloneed@gmail.com
Say, most of these trannies are application specific. For instance the '94 and '95 are not interchangable. Mostly due to the electronics. Whether or not there are some work arounds are beyond me. Do your homework. there are a few that do interchange.
i have a 94 camaro z28 (LT1 engine) with a 4L60E AUTOMATIC transmission i would like to know what other years fit my 94 camaro Z28 with out any problems at all ?
Hah - I spent many, many hours over the course of a coupla weeks. Working on everything, fashioning Rube Goldberg type tools, reviewing the manual and DVD over and over, going to the tranny shops for parts and services and talking to them. Lessee what else... oh, avoiding inclement weather out in the driveway.... and I try to forget the rest. As I said - I don't recommend this..... But, one must do what one must do - no?

The frst set in the aluminium drum is for 3rd and 4th. . . the next set is Forward. . . The 2 clutches in the bottom are Overrun. .

OHhhh. . . And please don't ever call it a . . Tranny !!! Please GOOGLE the word Tranny. . .
It is a Transmission. . Or a . .Unit. . . Sorry It's a big transmission builder thing. . ! !

@flapjack914 My dad's been building for 33 years, he calls transmissions "trannys". All his employees (including me) do as well.
