I completly agree why would Activision give reigns back to Treyarch, when Infinity Ward put it in modern settings and made one of the best shooters ever and the best online shooter, and gained millions of more fans, but its some how worth it to lose all thath just to put it back in WWII settings.
Completely foolish. A scripted, fictional theatre has so many more possiblities than the actual WW2 theatres. They are tied to actual events and battles, while CoD4 could do as it wanted, because all characters and events were fictional. More modern, fictional titles hold so much more than another WW2 game. There are, what, 20-30 FPS WW2 games? It is very old. It was a very big mistake that will cut alot of fans out and severly limit the best online gaming I, or anyone, has ever experienced.

They'd rather have a second Modern Warfare game, which expands on CoD4, or even one in the near future, rather than another World War II title. Sure, the graphics are great, the South Pacific jungle setting hasn't been done in CoD before, and there are some new weapons and AI capabilities, but it is nothing I haven't seen before. I don't want to trade by M4 Carbine for an M1 Garand after just switching after CoD3.
Alright then, give me your personal opinion: Was it a mistake to go back to WW2? The beauty of CoD4 was it gave a much larger set of high-tech weapons and vehicles, and a fictional setting gives much more free ability, while actual war settings limit creativity to actual battles and outcomes.

I think you get what I'm trying to say. There were very high tech weapons, including the Javelin missile defense launcher that was developed only a few years prior to this.
And yes, there were vehicles, several in fact, ranging from jeeps, BMPs, choppers and tanks. You just can't drive them, but they do give you aid.

Call of Duty 4 was the best online game on any console ever, I think that this will be good, however Call of Duty world at war wont have the same weapons as in COD4 which was one of the best features of the game.

According to Treyarch from the OXM article, there will be a Russian part of the campaign. Specifically, their push west towards Berlin. And that's actually diffrent from the other games as well. Until now, the only part of the Russian participation in the war that was portrayed in the previous COD games was their defense of Moscow and Stalingrad.
You know what I hate. Call of Duty has had 5 games in WWII Europe. Five Games. Then they skip 3 wars and go straight to modern combat. THEN they go back to WWII, except this time, in the PAcific. This game better long as hell. I mean it should take you at least 7 days of nonstop playing to complete this game.
infinity ward didnt make this COD game. treyarch brought it back to ww2 and activision said that this ISNT COD5.they said next year infinity ward is releasing another COD game, only its gonna take place into the future. one positive thing that i could say what treyarch did was move the fight out of europe and into the pacific. i do agree COD4 has set the standard for all fps,but maybe this game could be the equivilant to COD4 gameplay wise for ww2 games.

Call of Duty 4 was the best online game on any console ever, I think that this will be good, however Call of Duty world at war wont have the same weapons as in COD4 which was one of the best features of the game.
I doubt that COD5 will be as good online, or have as many people playing it.

if call of duty was in the future it would be terrible and i think if they did modern again it wouldnt sell well because cod4 was awsome and no one would buy it unless they really amped it up but its treyarch so it has to past vietnam would be ok but vietnam was mainly the US being ambushed and then calling in a huey strike. korea is too far in the past and would be kinda gay and no one wants to shoot germans again so treyarch was smart for once with pacific theatre

NUN OF THIS GODDAMN GAME IS VIETNAM!!! Maybe the Phillipines or a Japanese island nearby, but that is as close as it gets to Vietnam. The planes, the guns, the UNIFORMS, THE VOICE...are all signs that it is WWII. And also, NO RUSSIANS OR EASTERN FRONT. NOBODY BUT THE GERMANS FOUGHT THE RUSSIANS. If it was in Russia, I'm sure they'd make that clear. NO PALM TREES IN RUSSIA.

According to Treyarch from the OXM article, there will be a Russian part of the campaign. Specifically, their push west towards Berlin. And that's actually diffrent from the other games as well. Until now, the only part of the Russian participation in the war that was portrayed in the previous COD games was their defense of Moscow and Stalingrad.

You know what I hate. Call of Duty has had 5 games in WWII Europe. Five Games. Then they skip 3 wars and go straight to modern combat. THEN they go back to WWII, except this time, in the PAcific. This game better long as hell. I mean it should take you at least 7 days of nonstop playing to complete this game.

infinity ward didnt make this COD game. treyarch brought it back to ww2 and activision said that this ISNT COD5.they said next year infinity ward is releasing another COD game, only its gonna take place into the future. one positive thing that i could say what treyarch did was move the fight out of europe and into the pacific. i do agree COD4 has set the standard for all fps,but maybe this game could be the equivilant to COD4 gameplay wise for ww2 games.

Plus, Lee3nfi3ld (awesome name by the way, great Brit rifle) is right, the M1Garand is a more durable and powerful rifle. One of the best American weapons ever designed.
