  • When I first heard this song, I didn't know some of the lyrics or the title, so I thought it was about a couple having a kid they didn't want and going crazy. Oh well, I guess it could fit is some ways. XD

Either way, this is AMAZING. Great work!! :D

  • I love this band thank god there is a break from all sad excuses for musical groups out there. Why in gods name this isn't number one right now on are radios is beyond me.

  • Ahh the top related video is really off-putting. LOL

  • I haven't listened to this song for a while... oh, how I missed her voice. <3

  • perfect video, totally mesmerizing

  • Beautiful! If there ever was a video to go with this song, it would be this one. Nice work!

  • WTF IS RELATED TO THIS VIDEO!!

  • ***but who cares

  • .... Amanda Palmer's philsophy: Liquid eyeliner works on everything, it's the best thing since duct tape. XD

  • I am totally NOT digging the first video in the related videos O.O

  • Am I the only one who headbangs my ass off to this song?

  • @SapphireJesse08 Not at all!!!

  • @SapphireJesse08 not by far :)

  • Life goal. Be Amanda Palmer.

  • Fucking brilliant. LOVE that you did it in the style of the Dresden Dolls other videos... Especially lo e the keyboard mashing and garters.

  • You're really in drug if you don't love this! Excellent!

  • I think it's about abortion and the consequences of sex.

  • @Awesomegamer9

well im afraid im going to have to kill you boy

  • Hi eugene

  • "No second thoughts, the knife is nearing..." <3

  • I too think this song is about sex outside of a relationship, rather than a song about being transgendered. I think Amanda wrote it so that it has dual meaning, but the blatant obvious meaning is a sex change, where as the deeper meaning is the regret and depression that follows a one night stand, or casual sex. Kudos to 'OhSupItsCleveland'

  • I'm a transgender girl and someone I love, who is a transgender boy, introduced me to this song. I think you have to be a transgender yourself, or be deeply involved with one, to really appreciate this song and how painfully true it is.

It makes me want to cry and scream and yell at the world: At nature for being so cruel, and at society for being crueler still.

Our lives are hard enough as it is, why must people always stand in our way to happiness?

  • @koantin if some one is standing in they way of your happiness, PUSH THAT HOE OUT OF THE DAMN WAY, because they have no right to be there.

  • Who do you think you are? Amanda Fucking Palmer?

(Always wanted to say this without actually being abusive)

  • Very creative...goes perfectly well with this song

  • I THINK IT'S ABOUT ALIENS!!! AND UNICORNS!! AND DOUBLE RAINBOWS!!!

  • @MentalRecluse your right.

  • @MentalRecluse lol you said double.

  • @shyguyonstilts84 heh heh sex changes heh heh it could be like double meaning heh heh like sex changing heh heh or like changing ones gender. heh heh but cares.. it's like. a good song. heh heh fire-fire-fire ...i'm rambling... xD

  • Wow, you made an Amazing video. Loved every bit of it. Make more? <3

  • That is one hell of a good fanvideo.

  • Were you just Freshly Botoxed when you made this Video?

  • Comment removed

  • I think it's about sex change and abortion/being pregnant.

  • <3 I love this! Amazing job!

  • Excellent video!

  • I laugh everytime I hear the high pitched "cock off". Hurr.

  • @Optachibi2 Actually, she says "clock off" (Hence the tick tock tick tock tick tock)

  • This video is bloody fantastic, I'm always cautious to watch fan videos because usually they piss me off, but this is really good ^.^

  • I Love Miss Palmer And YOU give such respect to her I thank you

  • This is such an amazing video. I honestly can't believe it's only fan-made. Do you have previous film experience or something? :D

Oh, and lovely song, btw. The Dresden Dolls are awesome.

  • about 5 years ago I made out with a girl in her backseat...and she played their whole album...I have never been in love with a band like this since

  • about 6 ago I made out with a girl who introduced me to the dresden dolls...my life hasn't been the same since..

  • Brilliant video

  • I'm gonna go find me a random piano in a field!

  • love it!

  • Awesome video!! You have an amazing gift!

  • sorry everyone, but let me say that these lyrics almost certainly describe transgendering surgery...

  • @TheCheatedheart yes they do they also suggest abortion hence the second half it says sex changes life and the little pittter patter

  • @ling4443 I think that could be a sort of provocation, as many people is convinced that those who develop transexualism would be better never being born....

  • very powerful song. beautiful.

  • For me it's about the hollow essence of today's relationships. That a relationship will only lead to a rollercoaster of "does he/she love me" and lust. I am no fundamental Christian and neither do I believe that puritanism is the way but the current state is correctly seen in the song as pathetic.

  • Epic.

  • Amazing <3

  • and tomorrow and tomorrow...

  • This song reminds me a lot of Time To Dance from Panic! at the Disco.

    Anyone else agree?

  • I can't say I don't love it but I can deffinitely say I don't understand it.

  • so is she like doing plastic surgery to get a sex change or what cause im all like???????????????? WHAT THE HELL this music vid is fucked up but her music is awesome

  • @penguinprotector2 It's about a man getting surgery to become a girl Abortion and plastic surgery

  • great video!

  • i want this song played during my sex change operation

  • @lanegwyn it's talking about the regrets of sex changes, i think

  • This song is beautiful with advice I only recently have found to be wise. I wish I had taken this song to heart years ago.

  • Wow, thats impressive for a fan video. I actually thought it was an official video first time I saw it.

  • Actually, even though the song is called "Sex Changes", I think the lyrics fit the subject of abortion better. That's just my opinion though... :p

  • so depressing, but sooo good.

  • AFP would be proud me thinks. amazing video :)

  • This song is basically about the changes that come from sex.

I mean I know it talks alot about sex changes but it also talks abotu getting pregnant.

  • the lyrics for this song certainly have a multitude of meanings...

but this particular video is crushingly depressing for a select few of us

  • Listened to this song for the very first time tonight with the lyrics on the screen.I did not see the video the first time. This song is all about being accepted for a sex change operation, and what takes place after that.Taking hormones, and living the life, dreams and fears of a tranny. Its about making the right choice and living with the good or bad outcome of the sex change operation. You are all watching the images in the video and basing your opinion on that.Listen/read to the words.

  • one thing i should point out is the term tranny is offensive to those who are actually trans. regardless the rest of what you say is fairly accurate.

  • @da6is9 that's really more how you interpret the song. not how it is. unless, you yourself, are Amanda Palmer in which case i'll have to take your word for it.

  • 10am0the0paper0boy

The song, itself, is called, "sex changes", what else could it be about? Why not just read the lyrics?

Maybe if you were a transsexual, you might know what to look for in the lyrics.

  • @da6is9 I have no desire to quarrel on this matter. If you're a transexual more power to you. It doesn't change the fact that what the song means is up to the interpreter. As is the case with any form of art.

  • @da6is9 whel i though what you thaought at first, but then i read the lyrics and sa the video and now im not so shore.

  • @da6is9

aw too bad he isnt special like a transsexual right?

  • Typically, there are two different views and meanings to this song.

The purpose is suppose to be about abortion.

Some people may think it's about sex changes.

  • I agree with Oh SupIts. I don't think it's about just casual sex though. I think it's about sex in general, and all it's complications, in and out of long term relationships.

Great video though! It was posted on my birthday, none the less. Of course I didn't find it until a year and a half later, but a lovely birthday present none the less, haha.

  • Even though the song is called Sex Changes, and the lyrics really have multiple meanings, I believe this song has nothing to do with being transgendered.

I believe it's more about a guy having casual sex with a woman, and the consequences of it.

    Still, a beautiful song.

    <3

  • @OhSupItsCleveland

oh yes. it certainly has many meanings. but if you don't think one of them is transsexuality you are fairly oblivious.

  • @OhSupItsCleveland I agree with you completely, I definitly don't think its about literal sex changes, but rather the change sex has on people, and the consequences on that.

Though I enjoyed this interpretation of the song through the video, in a more literal sense. :)

  • @OhSupItsCleveland I think that it might be a combination of both concepts. I could definitely see this song having a double meaning.

  • @OhSupItsCleveland Uh, no. The song very clearly conveys the continued meme that trans women need to have a vaginoplasty in order to be considered a "real woman." Kindly resist the urge to make it about men.

  • @OhSupItsCleveland Amanda said it was actually about a guy she was seeing who was to soon undergo a sex change operation and she had conflicted feelings about it.

  • @OhSupItsCleveland knowing a few transgendered people, I completely disagree. Not that your reading is invalid, I just think if you ignore the TG meaning (which is explicitly stated in the song) you're being thick

  • Really beautiful song .. compliments

    Seriously good job.

  • i love this song

  • Once again, another clever one! I really like your videos and appreciation towards dresden dolls and hope to see more!

  • Very nice video, RP. And I really think it kinda captures the meaning of the song. Great job. Love it!

  • How very very true...

  • OMG! i love it

  • Cool vid, I love it, very Dresden Dolls, but it looks like you used a lot of the same clips over and over... just a bit repetitive.

  • Great vid.

  • So, the whole playing keyboard in the video to the song... It seemed to fit very well. Do you actually know how to play the song, or did you just kind of guesstimate where to play and when?

  • i do know how to play it. however, i didn't really at the time. i had just learned the song and i screwed up a lot.

  • does she really smash at the keys like that to get that sound? great job @RutabegaProduce

  • @RutabegaProduce do it again. i wanna see more comfort and SLAMMIN. you know you got it. that video was dope. think of what you could do with it now....?!?!?!!!....????....

  • Love this song, my favorite of all time!!

  • I loce this video so much! It's amazing! :D

  • ode to u for finally useing the regular vershion of sex changes!!!

  • Love this video!!

  • awesome video for a strange but awesome song!

  • So, I saw your Gravity video. And then I saw this video. And I have decided. That you're awesome. And you're going to be my new best friend.

  • Wow this is sooo good, well done dude. =)

  • Just search it on google. One time I found it on this site and it wasn't very expensive its not that hard to find.

  • this was soo cool, i loved it

  • i'm really impressed. gravity wasnt a fluke- these videos are amazing. keep it up.

  • okay the song obviously has severel different meanings she is explaining many different ways sex changes your life

  • this is amazing,

    done amazingly well.

  • Waow... This beats every pop song and music video RIGHT AWAY!

  • On one level it is, but on a deeper level, it's about unplanned pregnancies. Amanda plays on words quite a bit throughout this song. For example, "how you'd love to have a little thing with which to play" this is actually about a baby, as is this: " have to keep on feeding it tomorrow". Those are just a few examples. Find the lyrics and think about them more with this concept in mind.

  • It's really about sex in general. Both about having sex, and about 'sex' as in gender. That's the beautiful thing about this song. Pregnancy would follow the whole "you get more than you're asking for without the right protection." But "How you'd love to have a little thing with which to play" could be simply a penis, ya know. xD

  • the song is called sex changes not.. be carefull you mught get pregnant

if there is any "form" of implying unplanned pregnancy its that if this man gets a sex change he's be a femal and might get pregnant,

but even then i don't believe males that form into females can get pregnant.

i've scanned the lyrics and listened to the song a lot.. i still don't see the unplanned pregnancy part, sorry ! :\

  • You do realize that not everything in life is in black and white.

  • Also,

"you'll get more than you're asking for without the right protection"

I never knew you could get a sex change from unprotective sex :o

  • that would suck... i would've ended up being an IT by now...

  • :| The title doesn't mean everything.

It's kind of a double meaning: sex change, and how sex changes people. "pitter patter pitter patter of this little feat of engineering", "it might be nice to look at, don't forget you're stuck with it tomorrow ..." etc.

  • LOL@YOU.

    True tho ;'D

  • it does go in all sorts of possible directions, like the line 'you'll never hear the little pitter patter' could be talking about a pregnancy but could also relate to a sex change making conceiving impossible/improbable/hard (I'm not %100 on the affects of sex change surgery on reproduction) But in any case I think it's one of the things that makes the song great to listen to, the maze of meanings in there.

  • i think i allready commented afew months ago

    anyway

    very amazingly good

  • you're bloody brilliant.

    i love this song...

took me a few times listening to it before i connected it to unplanned pregnancy.

i love your gravity video. you're the person who inspired me to do mine for film class.

  • Oooo I didn't catch the unintended pregnancy connection... Explain, please?

  • Wait! I think I get it... Maybe. Still, lol, explain.

  • Yea, I love the piano playing outfit too!!!

  • Love love love love love this. Thank you.

  • This is my favorite fan made video for this song, i don't know why it doesn't have more views, it's really great!

  • This is such an amazing video. Every time that I watch it, it literally blows me away. I couldn't believe that a FAN actually made this video when I first watched it. I love it. This video totally compliments and adds to the meaning of the song.

  • you guys did a fantastic job with this video. I love the Dresden Dolls and I love how creative the FANS are!

    BRILLIANT!!!

  • yahoo group.

  • WOW!!!!!

    this is amaziiiiiinggg

  • wow thats way good.

better than any other video ive seen for this song.

this one gets the songs mesage across better than the others by far.

  • Damn, you produce some good shit.

  • You obviously put a lot of yourself into this, and I think that's what makes it so beautiful and impressive.

You really understand the meaning of the lyrics and take your own toll on what is said.

    It's really astounding.

Can't wait to see more of your work.

  • I truely enjoy your Dresden doll movies you made! keep up the good work!

  • this song confuses me, i know it adresses loss of virginity and a sex change operation, but i cant quite tell how they come together

  • they're both bloody.

  • AWESOME!

  • as with gravity...Fuckin great, you definatly have talent

  • Very nice. My favorite song from the Dresden Dolls, too. You did an awesome job. Kudos :)
