i can't believe it but I'm actually getting it. It has only been a week in a half and already it's begining to sound pretty good. Though I haven't reached the main melody yet, it's coming together quite well. Thanks for the encouragement.
Thank you. And you are right. Taking this song slow will be the best option. I just hope everything works out in the end because this is a fantastic song to play when I'm sad or angry
Omg I soo want to play this song, but I feel it's beyond my reach. I know it can be done but it's gonna be hard. Thumbs up if you think I should still try.
@Darkheart1792 just requires countless hours of work. The best advice I could give would be to start slow with a metronome. Don't speed up (even though you want to). Stay slow until you get it perfect then SLOWLY speed up a few beats per minute until you have it down. Good luck and anything can be done with the right amount of determination!
Are you holding down the pedal the whole time or is that the way your piano sounds?! It was such a blur...if its the pedal, try lifting the pedal after every measure.
I think its hard for just about everyone who hasn't been classically trained. I'm teaching myself piano as i go along with this song, and you're right about the next bit being hard. T_T
On that last run in your vid you may want to try using two hands to make it fast and smooth. Good luck!
I don't even know If I could. I learned to play the song last year and have since gone to college and proceeded to forget most of it which is a shame as it is an amazing song.
The pedal is fine, you guys. Oh yes, and by the way, Flitzpatrick, how'd you manage to bring yourself back to life, and without the dynamite attatched to the piano?
I can't read music, so I'm just going by ear; listening again I think you're right. The lower part keeps going but the new upper notes don't have the sustain on them.
a very good way to practice, THIS and really anything else, is to synchopate the entire piece on the down beat: for example ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR. then reverse it for the entire piece: for example one AND two AND three AND four. Do this about half an hour, 15 minutes each. you'll find that your fingers will adjust and stregnthen to the piece and be really smooth. ESPECIALLY on the runs. in fact you can just do the runs like that by themselves.
I WANT TO PLAY THE REFRAIN ON THE GUITAR BUT I CANT FIND ANY TABS !!! i think it would be possible , can anyone help me please , i cant read notes just tabs , please help me
Wow. The complexity of this piece....wow! You really are the greatest Piano Player I've ever met! You played with great feeling, too. Now That's the way to play this song! Thanks for the vid. Hope you can do more!

you ruined it! I played bioshock and I downloaded the soundtrack and the original sounds way better. get better and express it the way it's meant to be expressed.
Ths is a "classical" piece (contemporary classical) and demands more training; you can't just bs it.
I'm not saying you're horrible or anything, but... from the beginning, the intended atmosphere of the song is lost. Ask a teacher to give you some advice, and you could make this a masterpiece performance!

Yea it has become somewhat of an obsession for me. When you get it down it is one of most satisfying things to do though. My only advice would be to break it down into very small parts and work on the right then the left. Throughout the whole song you have to only look at your left hand because it jumps so much. yea but it is one of those pieces that when you learn it you will play it over and over again and it will be supremely enjoyable. I am to the 11th bar myself
Indeed it is enjoyable... I just finished Preliminary grade, and reading the music... it is a challenge, but I am grasping it, so satisfying just finishing a bar, like the buildup to the chord section and playing it over, and over again :D
OMG It's become my obsession as well! Except... I've been playing less than a year. In fact, it's such an obsession that I can play as much as you have in this video, and I can play it proficiently, plus some other parts (like the fast downward run starting on F later in the piece). I'll make a video soon if I can find a freaking camera!
BTW, for the upward arpeggio at the end, I recommend using two hands for maximum speed!
I'm going to go ahead and be that guy.
You've got the timing wrong on the lead to the main melody.
At 0:14 you go into that, It's got to be a bit later. There's a bit more left.
Look at some other videos of people playing, you'll understand what I mean.
Other than that, It's lovley.

that was in the game, but i'm looking at the music right in front of me from the actual composer.
he instructs "Andante con Fuoco" so there you go. No prestissimo, not even presto, not even vivo or vivace.
Besides, this is a Scherzo, you wouldn't like a prestissimo Scherzo. There's no passion in it. It's like a 3 second orgasm... very dissappointing no?
