  • I'm going to go ahead and be that guy.

You've got the timing wrong on the lead to the main melody.

At 0:14 you go into that, It's got to be a bit later. There's a bit more left.

Look at some other videos of people playing, you'll understand what I mean.

    Other than that, It's lovley.

  • i can't believe it but I'm actually getting it. It has only been a week in a half and already it's begining to sound pretty good. Though I haven't reached the main melody yet, it's coming together quite well. Thanks for the encouragement.

  • Thank you. And you are right. Taking this song slow will be the best option. I just hope everything works out in the end because this is a fantastic song to play when I'm sad or angry

  • Omg I soo want to play this song, but I feel it's beyond my reach. I know it can be done but it's gonna be hard. Thumbs up if you think I should still try.

  • @Darkheart1792 just requires countless hours of work. The best advice I could give would be to start slow with a metronome. Don't speed up (even though you want to). Stay slow until you get it perfect then SLOWLY speed up a few beats per minute until you have it down. Good luck and anything can be done with the right amount of determination!

  • @ThorsDisciple Absolutely. That's what I did 3 weeks ago and now I can play it quite well by my standard :)

  • @BarryDong congrats!

  • Wow this kid sucks.

  • Are you holding down the pedal the whole time or is that the way your piano sounds?! It was such a blur...if its the pedal, try lifting the pedal after every measure.

  • No no no! Allegro, Allegro!!! XD

  • what grade is it

  • Dadatatata! Lets try again young Fitzpatrick

  • I'm confused. Why didn't the piano explode?

  • well, what are you waiting for!?! Fitzpatrick can't hold that pose all day!

  • IT......is......FINISHED!!!!!!

  • FITZPATRICK!

  • Presto, presto! No, no!

  • yup

  • too much pedal anyone?

  • Dah, dah, da da dah! NO! No Fitzpartrick! Allegro!

  • I'm triying... I'm Triying...!!!

    ...

  • OH LEt me out of this you SICK FU-- BOOM!

  • ....

    *Takes picture*

  • I see you have quite the eye of the Shutterbug...

  • Fly away little Moth!! FLY!!

  • Playing this song requires a lot of patience and practice. Im not even finished with 1/2 of a page!

  • It's Sander fuckin Cohen; why even ask?

  • PRESTO PRESTO! nonono! once agin young fitzpatric!

  • that was in the game, but i'm looking at the music right in front of me from the actual composer.

he instructs "Andante con Fuoco" so there you go. No prestissimo, not even presto, not even vivo or vivace.

Besides, this is a Scherzo, you wouldn't like a prestissimo Scherzo. There's no passion in it. It's like a 3 second orgasm... very dissappointing no?

  • i see, you are right.

  • a little too much peddle, and in the words of Sander Cohen, "Presto!, Presto!"

  • i really love that

  • great!! please, make the whole song :D would you kindly make whole song??

  • the next part is very difficult (for me).

  • I think its hard for just about everyone who hasn't been classically trained. I'm teaching myself piano as i go along with this song, and you're right about the next bit being hard. T_T

On that last run in your vid you may want to try using two hands to make it fast and smooth. Good luck!

  • I don't even know If I could. I learned to play the song last year and have since gone to college and proceeded to forget most of it which is a shame as it is an amazing song.

  • wooooww OO pliiss your are magnifiikk pliiss create a tutorial for this themee!!!!!!! ^^

  • You played it a little slower then normal, but actually I like the play rate during the chorus, it's much more beaty.

  • Thanks a lot for the sheet music! Maybe I'll be able to play it in ten years or so...

  • The pedal is fine, you guys. Oh yes, and by the way, Flitzpatrick, how'd you manage to bring yourself back to life, and without the dynamite attatched to the piano?

  • too much pedal

  • i agree. would you kindly push that button to blow this guy up

  • I WANT TO TAKE THE EARS OFF BUT I CAN'T!

  • DADADADADADADA

    PRESTO PRESTO!

  • Cohen you sick f*** let me out of he-BOOOOOOM!!!

  • just a tipp for you. (I learn the piece too)

At the endpart you have to use both hands:

    right:f;a;c left:f;a;c;f right:a;c;f;a;c;f

You will see in this way it goes quicker and easier!

  • yup dats very tru

  • On Dragonwarden's vids of her learning the song, I think on Day 14 she actually played this run with one hand O_o

But yeah, it's much easier with 2 hands.

  • i'm looking at the music, you're supposed to sustain the dotted half note while doing the run with the right hand.

  • I can't read music, so I'm just going by ear; listening again I think you're right. The lower part keeps going but the new upper notes don't have the sustain on them.

Now you've gone and made it hard for me...

    T_T

  • bah it's simple. the left hand goes booooooong and then the right hand does the run bliiiiiizzup. and they both end at the same time :)

    see simple.

  • a very good way to practice, THIS and really anything else, is to synchopate the entire piece on the down beat: for example ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR. then reverse it for the entire piece: for example one AND two AND three AND four. Do this about half an hour, 15 minutes each. you'll find that your fingers will adjust and stregnthen to the piece and be really smooth. ESPECIALLY on the runs. in fact you can just do the runs like that by themselves.

  • simply f***ing awesome

  • Allegro! Allegro! Lolz I'm channeling some Cohen right now.

  • Opps I meant Presto! GOt my music terms mixed up. Beautiful piece though.

  • lol but he duz say allegro and presto

  • VERY impressive! great job!

  • oh cohen you sick fuck let me out of this!

    *BOOM*

  • haha iknow i laghed so hard at that part

    Bioshock FTW!

  • good work,but a little bit too slow... ;)

  • Da Da dadadadDADADADAAA! PRESTO, PRESTO! NO, NO NO!

"Come on, you sick fuck, let me out of this thi-AARGH!"

Glad to see you haven't suffered the same fate as Fitzpatrick.

  • there might be explosives under the piano O_o

  • We'll never know. :(

  • I WANT TO PLAY THE REFRAIN ON THE GUITAR BUT I CANT FIND ANY TABS !!! i think it would be possible , can anyone help me please , i cant read notes just tabs , please help me

  • @mrjass Just started playing guitar a lot myself. If you are interested I may be able to tab it out.

  • @mrjass Just started playing guitar a lot myself. If you are interested I may be able to tab it out.

  • @mrjass Just started playing guitar a lot myself. If you are interested I may be able to tab it out.

  • @ThorsDisciple That would be really awesome !!! =)

  • quite good. u did stop at times but congratulations on playing this hard piece !

  • well done young Fitzpatrick ^^

  • he dident blow up either!

    That sounded AWSOME!!!!!

  • "I'm trying, i'm trying!"

  • Again. young Fitzpatrick.

  • well...actually, I have a Musical note of this music, and it's little bit different.

unfortunatly, That Musical Note is more difficult then this one...

  • Oh, and thanks for the download link.

  • Pretty damn impressive. Just looking at the sheet music, it's ridiculous.

  • where did you find the sheet music ive been looking for it everywhere

  • sorry my bad i just read the link lol

  • Wow. The complexity of this piece....wow! You really are the greatest Piano Player I've ever met! You played with great feeling, too. Now That's the way to play this song! Thanks for the vid. Hope you can do more!

  • bravo!

  • yeah, its not perfect, but DAMN it is a hard peice to play, so I congradulate you for doing as swell as you did. 5 stars

  • dear god, considering the complexity of this piece you sir have done a wonderful job.

  • Not completely correct but a nice attempt! 4 stars

  • chill. could you link to you playing it then. i would love to hear how it is supposed to be played in your opinion

  • Sheesh, I thought you did a great job. This is a difficult piece.

  • are you aware how hard this would be to play?

  • Ur good

  • DA DA DA DA DA DA DA!!! Presto Presto!

  • OMG just know i love this song sooo much and I am in shock of this video, you rock so much man!

  • I've been waiting a very long time for this. Favorited.

  • yo im a digg too

  • whoa damn i tried it and messed up......DONT EXPLODE ME PLEASE

  • wheres the explosives???

  • Once again, young Fitzpatrick!

  • Damn, you stole my post! :P

  • Stop it Cohen you sick f**k!

  • Hey, I uploaded my version with the sheet music mistakes (mentioned by CHR1S1102) corrected.

  • sander cohen is r0xx0r in bioshock, best character

  • I heard the guy who did the original recording had a lot of trouble with this. It's probably one of the most advanced pieces of music I have ever heard. When are you gonna put the rest up?

  • in a while. It is a difficult piece and i don't spend a lot of huge amount of my time playing piano (Senior year of high school, tennis, girls, etc.) I have the first page partially memorized and i am starting the second so hopefully in another 3 to four weeks.

  • ~smacks with a fish~ Finish the piece! x3

  • I reckon so too. Probably takes months of hard work for that one score alone..

  • Was this self taught or was there a music sheet?

  • I wonder if the 'original' is played at the eventual speed, all the way through. Or maybe that two people played it/It was recorded piece by piece. It is possible, of course, that it was actually played by one man or woman at full speed, but it isn't necessary for recording a piece for a soundtrack, so I doubt it.

  • I am pretty sure it was just played by one bad ass person. There are people out there who are just unhumanlike at piano

  • I'm practising this part as well. It's quite remarkable that it's actually possible to get better at playing this piece. I didn't expect to be able to play anything recognisable within a few weeks, but it seems that it's a bit easier than I expected. Still I'm going to have to study on this for quite a while.

It's nice to see progress other people are making(you are quite a bit ahead of me), and I'm certainly going to track your progress(please continue uploading).

  • I downloaded the sheet music and it has some mistakes in it you didn't correct. Not as though it was a problem, i'm just saying... About he last notes you played (the F-major sequence), I suggest you use both your hands, starting with left (F, A, C, F) then right (A, C, F) then left (A, C, F) and so on. That'll make it easier and faster as it is in the original version.

  • Congrats, you have skillz.

  • you play great. i trie this piece of notes some time ago and there was no talent for it :-)

But now, the way you played it...

    GREAT!

  • Oh my God! That is amazing. I didn't even know this music piece actually existed. Cohen's masterpiece is very pleasent to the ears. Too bad, he an absolute nutcass.

  • thanks for the sheet music

  • Thank you I've been looking for this for a long time

  • I'm almost done with this piece. I'll post mine soon ^^

  • Please do, but make sure your camera angle gets a great view of the keys... we want to see all the jumpy action!!

  • no problem like my video on widmung ;)

  • Yeah, excellent job!... Can't wait for part 2.

  • WoW, nice one.

I hope you are working on part 2 :-)

  • Love that song, very good so far.

  • Allegro! Allegro! Da da da da da da da da! Presto! Presto! No, no!

  • can you link the sheet music please?

very good job by the way.

  • wow thats really great !!

I'm trying it on my own but it's so hard to play (for me^^)

so keep on, i wanna see the whole part to see that there's a person who really can play it^^

    btw sheets:

  • Yea it has become somewhat of an obsession for me. When you get it down it is one of most satisfying things to do though. My only advice would be to break it down into very small parts and work on the right then the left. Throughout the whole song you have to only look at your left hand because it jumps so much. This means that you basically have to have the rt hand memorized and be able to do it with your eyes closed. Well good luck.

  • I'm working on it myself, I'm up to about the 4th chord... it's insanely difficult. I'll get a recording up myself :D

  • yea but it is one of those pieces that when you learn it you will play it over and over again and it will be supremely enjoyable. I am to the 11th bar myself

  • Indeed it is enjoyable... I just finished Preliminary grade, and reading the music... it is a challenge, but I am grasping it, so satisfying just finishing a bar, like the buildup to the chord section and playing it over, and over again :D

  • I'm an 8th year pianist so i'ma trying it as soon as i finish downloading it.

  • OMG It's become my obsession as well! Except... I've been playing less than a year. In fact, it's such an obsession that I can play as much as you have in this video, and I can play it proficiently, plus some other parts (like the fast downward run starting on F later in the piece). I'll make a video soon if I can find a freaking camera!

BTW, for the upward arpeggio at the end, I recommend using two hands for maximum speed!

  • Wow, you did a very good job! You should definately learn the rest. How long have you been playing?

Also, could you post the site where you found the sheet music.

  • I have been playing of and on for about 8 years

  • dude thats sweet..
