I went to 2 Joy Division gigs, when they supported the Buzzcocks at Newcastle City Hall and at the Leeds Futurama Festival. They were fucking mint!! I met and shook hands with Ian Curtis after the City Hall gig, and told him Joy Division were the best support band i had ever seen : )
the bands vocalest and the one who wrote most of the songs was Ian Curtis who was a manicily depressed to the exstent he ended his own life shortly before they would have toured the USA. in 79 I had the pleasure of seeing them live in leeds in 79 thanks for bring bad some old memorys .
this words still stand the test of time
"I've walked on water I've ran through fire I just can't seem to feel it anymore"
Sorry If I offened any one with the the history lession
@ninedosus thanks for doing this and keeping the music alive. joydivision have been my favourite band since I saw them on something else doing transmission and she's lost control... never depressing.. just raw, emotional and powerful..
I haven't listened to Joy Division in almost ten years. It turns out I can hum straight allong to the tune and sing the words. Thanks for the memories.
increibles estas canciones como todas las de joy, pero en especial day of the lords, candidate, she s lost control, i remember nothingo o las del closer: atrocity exibition, isolation, passover, ameans to an end, hearts and soul, the eternal, decades, en verdad me elevan; frecuentemente suelo combinar estas canciones con lecturas que me transmitan lo mismo, estilo Poe o Maupassant o Kafka, combinado con un dia nublado, que mas pedir
To my shame, I have not listened to Joy Division for a couple of years. A few days ago I watched the brilliant 'Control' and dug out the CDs. My God! How important were this band? Thanks for helping me remember, my friend.
@MARDLtransmit "Joy Division has never been about 'depression'...". Ian was the depression personified. And his depression gave us beautiful songs like this. While the Sex Pistols talk about shit, Joy Division's talk about what it's like in the shit. This is a synonym for depression .-
great video--you captured much in it

The most haunting sense of brilliance a singer ever performed live. Was to see Ian Curtis sing "new dawn fades"

Joy Division has never been about "depression" to me, they've always been more about dark mysteries. This video hits the nail on the head. Great job!

Incredible it's gonna soon be 30 years since the release of Unknown Pleasures, and the album sounds so timely. NDF is just a perfect song.

@gothichaunting - uh, gothhaunt... thanks, but I was referring to the art form in the video, not the history of bands that started in the early 80's.
