whats ricey about a viper? and how is new stuff over rated? the viper prolly has 100 hp on the galaxy. with the right suspension, it would stomp the ford. its like apples and oranges. why would that viper be at the strip. but you know he gets way more girls in the viper and on a road course that viper would be amazing. not to mention it is built to be a daily driver.

Here's what's REALLY cool: sit in a Viper, then sit in a '68 Galaxie. What if you and your pals want to go somewhere -- if your group is made up of more than 1 other person, you can't all go in the Viper. It's a fairly common occurrence on cruise nites (everyone meets at someone's house, then they take 1 car out for a while). It's a social thing. Same for if you have a family, pick up kids at school, etc. -- a 2-seater may be quick & fast, but it's a PITA in real life.

i doubt the Viper driver has as much experience with the 1/4 run as the Fomoco guy. Galaxie pulled pretty well off the line. saying that much, if the race was a mile or more, my bet would be on the Viper to catch tail somewhere along the way. Viper ran the wrong race.

68 to 70 they had fastback galaxie & a regular 2 door hardtop . that 68 is a fast back . that big boxy galaxie put one on that sprayed sports car . they say the viper was sprayed ; don`t say how much tho . give me a break !!!! those new cars are flywheel rated hpower & the older cars were rate at wheel hpower until sometime in the 80`s . the viper & galaxie most likely had similar hpower to weight ratio . REMEMBER THE VIPER IS A SPORTS CAR  ! WOE IS ME , BOO HOO !

Any classic can be upgraded to handle better. A straight line drag race has always been and always will be the show of choice.I own two classic Fords a 1969 Galaxie XL Fastback and a 1972 Ford LTD Brougham both with 429 v-8's. Most kids won't look at me at the next light after there doors have been blown off.

Unless your packing a seriously built 429, most kids in mommys Lexus will smoke a 429. low-mid 16's factory AT BEST with 360 hp version, not the 320hp! Edelbrock intake + cam with dual exhaust aint going to turn it into a race car.
