Absolutely the best show ever...the ending is awesome; Allan Ball was a genius with this series, but especially composing such an ending. I cry like a baby every time I see the ending. I find great comfort in seeing how it still is touching people so many years later. What a masterpiece from beginning to the best ending EVER...
Every couple of months I come back to see this video, and I can't stop crying, even if I saw it more than 20 times. It's beautifully sad. It's a masterpiece of Television. It's THE masterpiece. Unbelievable. Unreachable.
My favourite TV show of all time, edging out Gilligan's Island by just a thread.
Seriously though, I just revisited the entire series, the last time I'd seen it was when it originally aired, what a truly amazing work of art.
I don't know why, but Brenda's death cracks me up for some reason. It's like: she's finally had enough of Billy and just keels over and croaks right in front of him......HAHAHAHA!! So Brenda!
I typically am able to seperate my emotions (and I am anything but a cryer) regarding TV/Movies. I simply chalk them up to being fictional. But watching this alone at 1:30 AM and crying like a baby was truly one of the most moving experiences of my life. It was like watching my own friends and family pass away in front of my eyes yet it was so beautiful! It still elicits a strong response every time I watch it but how I wish I could go back to the 1st moment I watched this. Perfection.
After watching this show consistently for about 2 months, this finale was like watching my good friends and family pass on. The saddest movies ever have gotten no more than a small tear in my eye. But watching this montage made me sob for hours. I just finished this show earlier tonight and I'm still having a hard time shaking it. Brilliant!
i first found this series on TV when it was in re-run stage. I decided to start watching it and i think everyone should. For me it was more than a TV series. It makes you look at things in such a different way. It's so powerful. This series finale was SUCH a spectacular way to end such a moving series. If you haven't seen it, you need to. Don't skip a single episode, and don't write it off to quick. It's powerful, and i think everyone should see it.
I loved this show. Ever since the first episode I ever saw, I never missed another episode, ever. It's been so long since it's been on, but I love this show. This finale was top-notch, and the best ending I've ever seen.
Makes me want to go out and buy the Series Box Set.... I wanna watch this series all over again.
This show has taught me to appreciate my life and to cherish each and every moment. This show reminds me that change is apart of life and nothing lasts forever and to grab onto the good things life throws at you. Thanks Six Feet Under! I don't know if there are or will be any other TV shows as amazing as this!
I cry every time I hear this beautiful piece....'.peace'.......watched the series first time around....and am rapt that it is being re played on tv.....BEST EVER ENDING OF ALL TIME.......Best series ever.....really makes you stop and think.......
I keep coming back. Simple fact is that Six Feet Under is one of the finest masterpieces of our time. Teaches so much about life, it has become a cornerstone in mine
Seeing Keith get shot like that really caught me off guard the first time I saw it, but I think the deaths of David and Claire get to me the most. I can't say enough good things about this montage, truly one of the most powerful things I've ever witnessed. Some have called it emotionally manipulative and that the response it invokes from you is unearned, but I disagree. This just speaks so much to the themes of mortality, life, and death, just like the rest of this incredible show.
@xXguitardude9Xx, as far as I know, she received a job offer to work as a photographer's assistant in NYC. I haven't finished watching Six Feet Under yet.
@xXguitardude9Xx She originally got a job offer to work in NYC. The day before she was to leave, she found out the company that hired her had been bought out, but she still decided to leave without telling anyone that, and start her life with the money she had inherited from her father. Previously, her mother had kept the money from her, wanting her to go to college, but in the end she finally gave it to her, finally allowing Claire to leave and create her own life.
hey I'm 22 yrs old now I could not watch this show when it first came out(parents I was too young at the time). but I just finished the entire Series on HBOgo and I gotta say those parents of mine know what good shows are R.I.P to the good old days of HBO and the Fishers gotta admit this was a complex series it didn't flatten at all and seriously how else can end this but in a sad ending :) GREAT SHOW one of my favorites now
@mickeyrox4029 Rather than "ruin the character you see as Dexter", it actually enhances the appreciation you feel for Michael C Hall. This actor has now played two incredibly complex, human case studies and has done so with great skill. To me, he will always be David Fisher, and SFU owns Dexter as a series, but both are awesome.
Totally agreed for those that watched this whole series the last 6 and 1/2 minutes is just simply the most amazing series finale ever hands down. I try to get all my friends just to watch the whole series just for this scene. Gives me goose bumps everytime.
IMO the best ending produced for a TV Series...ever. The creativity, the emotion, the sublime soundtrack ... words fail to do it justice. Watch it often !
Great scene + finale to a wonderful series. I find it hilarious that Brenda passed away listening to billy babble, I mean he was crazy off of his meds, but imagine him as an old senile man lmao.
OMG I grew up with these characters. This Family. These friends. With these people.Laughed, with them, cried with them, became enraged with them and eventually faced death with them They helped people see death and life. I have cried so many times during this series. As an actor, writer and director I was moved so much by it. It helped me realize my job as an artist and that is to feel and help others feel. Art is the expression of the human experience. Thank you for posting this up.
Nice to find company here - I remember weeping at this too. Hard. And looking around, though I was alone in my apartment, because I realized I had not wept like that since I was a child.
No doubt the best series I've ever seen. I just completed. It touched me on so many different levels and to have an ending as powerful as that just blew me away. I've been recommending this series to everyone. If you don't watch it, at least watch the last 6 minutes.
some of the deaths aren't that serious but watching old claire on her bed is fucking depressing to me, it makes me wonder where and when will be my last breath and how all my memories will turn to nothing at some point.. shit :'(
@hassandiller You shouldn't think about it, you'll only waste some of your precious life time. You still have plenty, I'm quite sure of it, so don't spoil it on such thoughts. You shall die in due time, just enjoy every single bit of life until such a thing happens.
I finished the series yesterday for the first time, I sobbed during this part and even more when it finished. I don't think I'll ever be over it. Absolutely AMAZING.
@erickkkh Me too! I have never been so moved by a scene in television. This song was the perfect choice. I had a dream last night that my life unfolded to this song. Amazing!
This was also my first time to ever cry from watching a television show. I watched the whole series beginning to end over a span of 2 weeks. My brother didn't cry, but I think you have to have to watched the whole series and made an emotional investment with the characters, which he didn't, for this ending to move you like it does everyone else.
What can I say about SFU that hasn't already been said? Simply put, it's well written, and the acting is superb. The series itself is such a powerful character study that both teaches and moves us as humans. The series is THE pinnacle of TV drama. I have never liked network TV at all, and SFU reinforces why. And quite honestly after watching all 63 episodes, I'm left craving more.
i LOVE six feet under, and i havent watched the entire series in about 2 years, but whenever i watch the season finale it's like im watching it for the first time all over again ! thanks for the tears hbo !
I had never, EVER cried during any movie or TV series. This had me blubbering, a grown man. I can normally keep my feelings inside, but this overwhelmed me. Nothing with ever be able to touch the emotional intelligence of this show.
I cannot believe how this series moved so many people. The ending was disturbing but in a good way.Thank you for this show it really brings back some memories.
I remember the final episode finished at 1am in the morning and it took forever to stop crying I was walking around thinking I can't F***ing beleive it they killed them all off how bloody sad. Fantastic show so much so that they should of kept it going not finish so soon!!!!
@MrDramaKingTV I was just saying this to someone earlier today. We both tried to think of another series that ended so poignantly, and we couldn't think of one that even came close. I loved that it managed to create closure without closure. A beautiful summation of life itself, in a way.
I thought the show was good, not great, but this 6 1/2 minute finale is easily the best thing I have ever seen on TV. I am 33 now and have no expectation that I will ever see anything this powerful on my TV again in my lifetime. Not a crier, but I cannot watch this without tears rolling down my face. Simply amazing what the artists have done here.
@HerzogD I agree. Six Feet Under was a good (not great) show and this ending scene is a tear jerker. Just seeing what the characters made themmselves into while knowing all of the bull shit they endured really hits home.
agreed, i cry every time i see this too. ive cried just hearing this song in the car, to the degree that i had to just pull over and sob. but its a good cry in a way, i cant explain why.
@jahmalledbetter The show is predominantly set in the present. The point is not so much that all of them died but that all of them will die, and the above scenes just happen to be how. The future (i.e. 2025, 2029, 2044 etc.) is made to be the present, to make the point that we are all mortal: therefore, their deaths are demonstrations of the nature of life and death.
Had to put down my sweet golden retriever Casey today, with bone cancer. Found my way to this song tonight, weeping at the inevitable death of all creatures. Thank you, Sia; it's sad but beautiful.
I think it's a great touch how David and Keith's son turned out to be gay. (See Keith's funeral, holding hands with another man) Giving an insight into his influence and struggle having an effect on his son and having a positive effect on his life.
The best and worst ending to a series ever. I watched the entire series in the space of a few months. It gripped me from start to finish, I still feel this series was an outstanding achievement by the makers and I regard it of the best of all time. The laughs, the tears, the arguments. How you cannot tear your eyes away even if you wanted to. The ending was riveting, fitting to the style and drama of the movie, watching Six Feet Under I truly learned something about being a human being.
Have not seen this scene since it first aired. I cried at the statement it made to me. For personal reasons today I sought it out . Viewed it again. The life lesson and reminder about our own mortality is hard to bear. Especially, when one's life is not going as hoped, carefully planned or warranted. I read below a few others cried as well. Perhaps we are not alone in certain deep personal thoughts or fears as perhaps we tend to think we are. Just a thought ...
That girl you just called fat? She's O/Ding on diet pills. That girl you just called ugly? She spends hours putting on makeup just so people may like her. That boy you just tripped? He gets abused enough at home. Remember the man with the ugly scars? He fought for our country. Remember that woman with the distorced face? She was in a gas explosion. People dont have to hurt. Like or post this to another video if you are against bullying. 99% percent of you wont. I did.
The weird thing is, even though they are being shown dying, they are all technically still alive... and Ruth, the first to die, will still be alive for another 14 years... I remind that to myself whilst watching this and it gives me this strange feeling...
It seems one of Keith 'n David's children happened to be. Cool!
I have to say that a PRIUS does not fit Claire's character at all, it kinda ruined it a little. Too bad she crashed her old green funeral cadillac in the end of the series.
Oh man. Do I miss this show...

The most beautiful ending to a TV series ever. No questions asked. So gorgeous.

Greatest finale I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Seriously, can't stop watching it!
moviemusicfreek 2 months ago 3
six feet under will always be the one show that defined "tv show" for me, similar to Cowboy Bebop defining what an anime is.
the one and only, that cannot be compared but only need to be watched...
it was a long journey, and I cannot wait to go on it again = watch it again later in my life.
hopefully, I will not be dead so soon. but who knows?

dang i didnt know all of the died
jahmalledbetter 2 months ago
@jahmalledbetter The show is predominantly set in the present. The point is not so much that all of them died but that all of them will die, and the above scenes just happen to be how. The future (i.e. 2025, 2029, 2044 etc.) is made to be the present, to make the point that we are all mortal: therefore, their deaths are demonstrations of the nature of life and death.

I think it's a great touch how David and Keith's son turned out to be gay. (See Keith's funeral, holding hands with another man) Giving an insight into his influence and struggle having an effect on his son and having a positive effect on his life.

Throwing the emotion of 10 series worth into six minutes worth of footage - impossible? No. Indescribable.
h0tic3 2 months ago
