  • Hi Louise, as elegant and classic as a Versace scarf or a Chanel dress. Simple and understated. If you don't mind sharing, is the top swirled with a hand held mixer? If you don't want to share I totally understand - it's business. Thank you for sharing!

    hugs happiness health

  • @agsoaps Thank you the family is using this soap now and its wonderful after almost a year of curing...I just waited until it set up and used a chopstick and did tiny swirls on top it was very easy to do nothing like rocket science..thank goodness...lol.

  • @805Soap Thank you for sharing that tip. Got plenty of chopsticks but never thought about narrow strips all in a row. So pretty :)

  • would you consider sharing your recipe? i have skin issues and need to make this for myself. :)

  • It really looks nice. I don't blame you wanting to use it. I like the top of the soap with the glitter against the plain white background.

  • I make mine with 95% olive and 5% castor, with 1 T. sugar added to each pound of oils. It adds bubbling without detracting from the gentleness of the bar. I also use goats milk instead of just water. It's so creamy and wonderful!

  • it looks so pretty! Castile soap doesn't have to cure longer than normal CP soap, but it does get better and better over time. I've used mine after a few weeks and it's lovely.

  • my castile is sooooooo soft right now :(

  • I made a OO soap last week that I split into two batches. I made one batch CPOP baked in the mold plain with nothing added just OO, lye and water, and another batch HP in the crock pot, cooked 3 hours and added lavender buds and lavender essential oil at 140 degrees. I have used one of the bars already, and to be expected it is creamy with no bubbles. I do know that with age there will be a little bit of creamy bubbles, but my 8 month old castile soaps are already going rancid, so sad!

  • @soylarcandles Oh that is sad waiting 8 months and going bad...Hmmm,I am

going to google that one...I have mine stored now in a box with it cracked

open to get air..boy I hope it stays at least until 12 months..OO with the lavender sounds very yummy..thanks so much for sharing,

  • Louise it's so pretty!!

  • @ladytrainer Thank you, Leigh

  • Hi again Wondering if its possible to add colored soap shreds in this mix? Do you think it would work....love the shreds within the soap. Did you wrap this in a blanket after it was poured?

  • @mukwah1111 You can add anything you would like to this soap...but remember a true Castile is ONLY OO..when

you add other butters or soap shreds it is then called Bastile soap...the Bastard of Castile...Bastile soaps are wonderful, when I made this soap I made it for my 81 yr.old mother who has skin problems, she laughs when I tell her it will be ready for Christmas ....lol...no blanket..

  • Hey Louise, this is *Artisan/Clear from SnL :)

I make more Castile than any other soap and actually recommend you cure this for 9-12 months .. I know it's hard to wait that long but the difference to lather and how long it lasts in use is totally worth it .. And yes I'm afraid this does apply even in a dry climate or if you do a strong (40%) Lye strength solution - just the nature of the beast ..

  • @nzgoddess Thank you for your advice...I do plan to make more for the winter months..thats what I have heard, some

have even said 1 year is the best so I will gladly take your advice and others and wait..its killing me not to try this soap..lol.

Do you sell your soaps? Do you have any videos up on YT?

  • @805Soap

No I don't sell and don't have any video's sorry .. But you can see my soap and other products, experiments etc in the forum and on my (poor neglected) blog: artisansoaps dot blogspot dot com .. I'll have to get around to making some video's one day but I'm a single parent with a special needs son so life is pretty busy - B&B formulating/making is what I do when I get 'time-off' - it's my therapy :D

  • I understand! There is a lot of work that goes into this! I'm really excited, I think i'm going to give it a whirl. Do you think that my recipe will do ok ? You are supposed to use 100% Olive Oil, there's no coconut oil hiding in there?lol .... and I also wanted to ask you. With no scent added, How's the smell?

  • @honeypot28 LOL..no coconut hiding...I promise :] use 100% OO with lye & water, use soapcalc to get formula.

This is a facial soap for my mom who has roseace on her face so I wanted it to be very mild with no FO orEO at all.

It smell like nothing really, but it looks beautiful...if you private message me with your address, I will send you a bar,

    how about that! Louise

  • I love this! I've been wanting to make 100% Castile soap! But how did you get it that hard? It's like 18 hrs old, right? I made an Olive Milk and Oatmeal face bar two days ago and it's 80% olive oil, and is still to soft to cut! I'd love to know your secret! I've heard it takes 8 weeks to cure. I think you meant weeks? :)

  • @honeypot28 Thank you! I am in the process of experimenting with formulas, I wish I could share but it has taken

me 3 months of trial & error and countless hours of research to come up with this formula for soaping...its all out

there if you look, on forums, websites, blogs, youtube. My soap is very hard right now but waiting longer does help

with the mildness of the soap, I will do a update in 30 days,60,90,120,180 days to show the difference of this soap.

    Again, Thank you, Louise

  • This loaf is beautiful!

  • @AnoushBotanical Thank you ;}

  • I know this is off topic, but your nails always look great! The soap is lovely.

  • @sugartastic1 LOL....thank you...I will tell my tech that she will love it!

  • Wow, that looks great! I'm so surprised its that hard, I normaly have to wait a good 2 days before I pull it out of the mold and about 6-8 weeks for it to get hard enough to use. Awesome job hun!! =)

  • @mrscrafty100 Thanks, its a new recipe!

  • There's just something soooo very special about that soap, I love it.

  • @EdensSecret1 Yes, its for my mom whos 80, thank you.

  • Beautiful job!

  • @craftlover9 Thank you!

  • O wow so pretty! I suprised it is so hard! Very nice!

  • @shellbyrd1 Its a new recipe, Thank you!

  • wow it came out so pretty i luv it i jus made ont to like a month ago :)

  • @MyPinkDreams1 Thank you. Did you make a video?

  • @805Soap yes taking them out the mold i jus made a small batch 1lb lol

  • Yes, Louise that is true actually any recipe that contains a high percentage of olive oil especially a 100% olive oil soap the longer you wait the bubblier it will be and olive oil will make a rock hard soap even though the calc won’t show it in numbers. Like you did: people make it and let it dry out over the summer and use it in the winter :O) that is a good moisturizing soap and perfect for sensitive skin, GREAT JOB!! Very pretty soap..

  • @1cmirela Thank you :] My mother has very sensitive skin problems.

  • This soap is just so pretty! I love white soap bars. It's just so natural and pretty! I bet this is going to be a really nice soap. I've never made a castille but I'd like to.

    Happy Mother's Day!!!!!!!

  • @mbjlhj Happy Mothers Day to you! this is my first so I will let everyone know how it works.

  • wow! how did you make this? is it just olive oil and lye? im confused, lol but great job!! xx

  • @lushiee13 Thank you! Yes, just OO & lye water.

  • It is really hard for a 100% olive oil, thats great

  • came out just perfect, happy mommys day to you and your mom!

  • @soniasbliss thank you:] you are so kind...Happy Mothers Day too!

  • WOW THE TOP OF THE SOAP IS SO PRETTY

  • @greeneyezA1 Thank you very much, Happy Mothers Day!

  • I've never made a castile soap but probably should. If its good for your mom's skin then it should be about the same for mine. Still scared to put soap on my face though. It looks so clean and pure. Congrats on your recipe again. Proud Mama. Happy Mom's Day!

  • @MyWoodenBucket I will let you know, she is very anxious to use this so I will tell you all about it. She is very

happy about no scent & color and very mild even to the touch. Glad to see you online! Happy Mothers Day ;]

  • Your pure olive oil soap came out beautiful! I love the design.

I made a hot process (crock pot 5 hours) pure olive oil, unscented/uncolored soap. I sold it fine after 1 month, but at 4 months nice and hard. My sensitive customers love it. Although it is only olive oil, it has a nice soft lather and a smooth feel. I sell it as a baby soap too, because it is so mild and you don't have to worry so much about allergies to nut butters, etc. Great job you did! Irene

  • @soylarcandles Thank you, thanks for your input on curing I will save some for a longer cure, its good to hear what others have done. Happy Mothers Day!

  • Lovely! I think you should try a bar in 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. Then you can actually feel the difference with each stage. Castile gets better with age ... like a fine wine! Happy Mothers Day!

  • @Bathmistress Thank you, I will stash a couple for a review later thanks for you input. That will mean I have to hide it some where..LOL...Happy Mothers Day!

  • It is very pretty. Does it really take 4 to 6 months? That is so long. Wow!

  • @kayorcee Please read some of my replies, its actually a better soap when cured longer, but I will have to hide

    it. LOL
