  • The only thing that works for my OCD is Ambien and sometimes Xanax. It puts to rest part of the brain creating those insane thoughts. The real reason maybe is its powerful sedative effects, which relieves the symptons of this awful disease. Zoloft I found is pure crap and makes OCD ten times worse. Please stay away from Zoloft at all costs. Go to therapy and keep it simple by taking Xanax Xr during the day and either Ambien or Remeron at night.

  • Zolpidem (Ambien) hey. i am an ocd patient too...suffering one hell of anxiety. obsessins compulsions....there is a medicion Zolpidem (Ambien)..it called zolpidem in my country..its salt is ambien..for my brothers and sisters who are in various countries...it really relaxes and normalises u for some time...no medicine works for me like this..please try this..its an ordinary medicine for anxiety and sleeping but it really works...for those who need further help email me @ahmedjaved_45@yahoo.com

  • OCD is an anxiety disorder and your brain deals with obsessions by performing a particular behaviour/compulsion. Eg, you may be worried about a loved one being hurt, so you create certain behaviours to deal with the anxiety caused by this, like facing items a certain way. Dr Croft is correct in recommending the exposure and response technique, as you learn to deal with the anxiety. You are proving to yourself that nothing bad will happen if you don't carry out the behaviour.

  • Hold on- this doctor is saying how to treat compulsions, not anxiety. Some people with OCD, the compulsion isn't related to the obsession.

  • a serious dose of ocd does not go away by "fixing it yourself" but as this doctor says. He explains it very well, and just as it is. You obviously do not have ocd.

  • its called getting away from you wife. hahahahaha

  • Medication may help but the way I deal with my OCD has nothing to do with meds. Yes it is exposure therapy and I have not been to a proffesional about my OCD but I know what works for me and may help others. Instead of fighting what your thinking and feeling, let bits and pieces in at a time. Letting it happen helps understanding. I was once told "Your brain is trying to fix things, it wants to know why your afraid." Since then I haven't had any problems.

I agree - I am trying to deal with my OCD without medication. I like your advice - "your brain is trying to fix things; it wants to know why you're afraid". I think this may help me too!
