My mom is in a wheelchair so my dad lets us open our stockings as we wait for him to get her up and for them to get their coffee :) As far as the whole dating thing goes, I wasent the prettiest in my high school so no one really had any interest in me. I met my first boyfriend freshmen year in college and we are engaged now (currently juniors), we talk about the future a lot and want to spend the rest of our lives together <3

about saving up for Christmas, my dad saves up at least $20 a week so that my mom has $1,000 to spend for Christmas. We three kids have known for awhile now that our budget is $200 a piece, so what I usually do is calculate how much things cost so I can get the most things for the money. I too really like to know what I'm getting, because I hate for someone to get me something that I don't need or don't even want! Also, we get up at 8 o'clock because we have grandparents come over. . . .
We celebrate christmas at december 24th. Its THE day! We eat on the afternoon and then watch donald ducks christmas special on tv, then the santa comes at the evening and everyone opens the presents. Then the rest of the evening we just chill, eat a lot of candy and food and watch something nice on tv :) I think this is the way all people do in Sweden :)
Oh and P.S. I actually started dating my husband when I was 16 years old, in highschool! Im almost 22 now- we just got married in September. Of course we've had our ups and downs but its definitely possible to meet the love of your life when youre that young. We're still going strong =)
The only negative thing I have to say about these podcasts is that I have to have my finger on the volume throughout the ENTIRE thing, lol. Sometimes you kinda mumble a little bit Shay so I have to turn the volume up to hear you and then all of the sudden you'll start screaming and Im like oh my goodness! Haha. I dont seem to have this problem with the usual daily vlogs though. Maybe its because of the microphones? Idk. But other than that, I love the podcasts! =)
GARAGE SALES are completely worth it, instead of throwing it away someone else can us it for something. dont forget ones trash is another ones treasures. and the rest donate, recycle & then throw the trash away..... THEN YOU HAVE SOOOOOO MUCH EXTRA ROOM!!

I'm 16 and I think I'm in love. I think its hard for me to think that I wont be with my current boyfriend forever because my parents have been together for 28 years (since they were 16) married for 20. And the exact same situation for my boyfriends parents. I know its rare but its possible. I guess everyone just has a different opinion.

This Christmas is different for my family. I'm having major surgery 5 days before christmas, so we arent doing all the stuff we normal do around this time. But all that matters is being with the ones you love.
My sister every year makes a calendars of all are family pictures form the year:) Every house gets one, Its my favorite gift every years.

My opinion: As a 19 year old my parents ask me all the time what for Christmas and I don't really NEED anything and if I don't tell them anything they end up getting me presents that I don't necessarily want because they are just trying to make me happy. Listen to what kids say they want throughout the year and remember those things, because I feel those presents are more sentimental because you actually remembered I wanted that thing rather then a bunch of stuff you THINK I want. @Caryjane1 I think I can answer this question for you. The same rules will apply to their sons because the 16 yr old rule is common for Mormon families, and plus the reasoning for their daughters not being able to date till sixteen are applicable to both genders. I think they mostly just talked about the girls because Shay is a dad and they tend to be more protective about their daughters when it comes to dating. My guess is they didn't realize they only focused on the girls.
My parents and two of my sisters are celebriting Chrismas together and we pick names, and our rule is : 5 euro for the present is the limit ^^ You have to be creative and stuff, but it's so much fun to find a perfect present under 5euro's ^^ Christmas isn't about presents so we spent it together and have fun. The presents are not that important for us. x
In Norway we eat and open the presents on the 24th. The day after we usually play games, eat leftovers and watch movies :) And we don't decorate the christmas tree before the 23th :)
That is actually what we do here in denmark :) eat and open presents and stuff all on the 24'th. and then in my family on the 25'th you have lunch with all the leftovers where and watch christmas movies and drink ''glöck" :)

Lol, sorry another comment on "traditions". My family and I always play a board game of some sort together. Something like, Jenga or Clue or Hungry Hippos (for the younger kids).
I just thought I might drop off a simple but cute Christmas tradition, my family and I used to do every year. We used to all get together with a bunch of arts and crafts supplies (like pinecones, foam balls, paint, glitter, and etc) and we would make each our own Christmas ornament to hang on the tree. After a few years we ended up with an entire Christmas tree worth of ornaments. =) I just thought that would be fun for the kids and adults.
I just married my high school sweetheart and we started dating at 15! Sure we've changed and grown as adults but we've grown and changed together. Of course it doesn't always happen but it's not impossible!

Shay and Colette, if you are buying a guitar for Shay, I suggest that you look into a Larrivee. They are Canadian but for the money I like them better than comparably priced Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons. Also I can smell a new channel with Shay learning guitar with a few lessons per week. That idea is Gold!!!!
haha what my family and i do is we have a huge fun party on christmas eve starting at 8pm and when the clock hits 12 we all gather around and hand out the presents and have everyone open them and some of our family members would play a joke on some of us xD its so fun and then the party continues on until 2 am lol its the best moment of my life maybe you guys should do that.
My friend's dad still has one of those carpet kits in the back of his huge truck, and I don't think that it's illegal because we still ride in there and he's a man of law!

I think that would be smart if parents told their children that if they want an electronic it would be the only present "Santa" gets them or that they will get 2 or 3 other small, cheap things.

Shay I couldn't help noticing on the dating issue, you only commented on the rules you'd give your daughters...so just wondering will the same conditions apply to the boys?

@Caryjane1 I think I can answer this question for you. The same rules will apply to their sons because the 16 yr old rule is common for Mormon families, and plus the reasoning for their daughters not being able to date till sixteen are applicable to both genders. I think they mostly just talked about the girls because Shay is a dad and they tend to be more protective about their daughters when it comes to dating. My guess is they didn't realize they only focused on the girls.

My parents and two of my sisters are celebriting Chrismas together and we pick names, and our rule is : 5 euro for the present is the limit ^^ You have to be creative and stuff, but it's so much fun to find a perfect present under 5euro's ^^ Christmas isn't about presents so we spent it together and have fun. The presents are not that important for us. x

In Norway we eat and open the presents on the 24th. The day after we usually play games, eat leftovers and watch movies :) And we don't decorate the christmas tree before the 23th :)

That is actually what we do here in denmark :) eat and open presents and stuff all on the 24'th. and then in my family on the 25'th you have lunch with all the leftovers where and watch christmas movies and drink ''glöck" :)

I just thought I might drop off a simple but cute Christmas tradition, my family and I used to do every year. We used to all get together with a bunch of arts and crafts supplies (like pinecones, foam balls, paint, glitter, and etc) and we would make each our own Christmas ornament to hang on the tree. After a few years we ended up with an entire Christmas tree worth of ornaments. =) I just thought that would be fun for the kids and adults.

Shay and Colette, if you are buying a guitar for Shay, I suggest that you look into a Larrivee. They are Canadian but for the money I like them better than comparably priced Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons. Also I can smell a new channel with Shay learning guitar with a few lessons per week. That idea is Gold!!!!

haha what my family and i do is we have a huge fun party on christmas eve starting at 8pm and when the clock hits 12 we all gather around and hand out the presents and have everyone open them and some of our family members would play a joke on some of us xD its so fun and then the party continues on until 2 am lol its the best moment of my life maybe you guys should do that.

we have Eid holiday, we buy new clothes weeks before and celebrate for 4 days, we have like events and Parades and stuff, on Eid day we spend the whole day in Grandparents house with all our cousins, also we wake up at 5am max sometimes earlier even and get dressed * with our new cloths * and kids go door to door saying happy Eid and they might give us money x"D it's fun <3 if your a kid you'd be rich lol @WhenTheKidsGoToSleep

My parents didn't let me date until I was 16 too and I was so upset with them then. But looking back now it was a great decision. I'm so glad they made me wait now. So good choice guys!
