Love your video. To the point and very easy to follow. And despite all the warnings from some of the comments, I didn't die, burn the house down or get possessed in the process! Must be beginners luck.
Ppl this is not a video you should use for this type of canning, I'm not trying to be mean to this girl but there is so many things done wrong in this video it isn't funny, this is a poor example of how to can this way. Hopefully she has learned from someone with more years of experience and has gotten better in the last couple of years, I'm glad shes so excited and enthusiastic about canning but it is not a video first timers should use as a guideline.
Come on people, give her a break. This is a well-done video that gives the basic steps for home canning. If someone decides to try canning using JUST this one video (despite the fact that they should do other research on the subject - I studied for probably about two hours before I tried my first time) then they will probably do fine. Thanks for the good video, and chill out everyone.
i like your jam making and how you teach us to seal the jar but the thing is, i didnt really get the powder(white in color from a box) you added into the jam, can you msg me and let me know exactly what that is????
You can also boil up the blueberries or whatever berry you use in water that has had apples boiling in it, as the apples contain natural pectin, and I do this all the time for making my jam, and it works well.
thank you. I never canned before. Your approach is very encouraging to the (me) ignorant. I wonder how many pints you got out of 8 cups. Did you double stack them in the water? God Bless you and thanks for posting.
Hello - You may have already answered this, but I did not read all the comments. Sorry if you already did. My question is, is it 4 (or 8) cups of fruit before or after you mash with the potato masher? Thanks!
great video, done in real time, to the point, with no dead time or confusing back and forth instructions. Thanks. I am making some raspberry preserves from fresh eastern black raspberries I found in the country.
I agree that it is essential to have a proper seal; this can be assessed by pressing down on the middle of the lid to be sure it doesn't bounce back. I haven't had any problems acheiving a tight seal. (Probably because any mess is cleaned off the lids when the cans are placed in the boiling water to be sealed.) If you do choose to wipe the lids, be careful you are not introducing any germs. The main goal is to not be overwhelmed by the canning process; just get started!
I can't believe you don't wipe the rim of the jars before you put the lid on!!! You don't even use a funnel yet you just plop the lid on the dirty rims of the jars. This is very dangerous. Anyone watching this video needs to not omit this very important step. This is not the proper way to can. you MUST wipe the rims of the jars off so you get a good seal
I like this method, it looks easy. Thank you.. I'm doing this today. Any tips on canning stewed tomatos? Can I do it without a pressure canner?

You MUST wipe off the rims before you put on your lids on. If not you will not get a good seal. That

Enjoy your Diabetes. Too much sugar, I would only use half as much sugar as berries. EAT HEALTHY.. Healthyharbor.

Very messy cooking and jars aren't wiped cleaned before putting the lids.

do you use a rack in the bottom of the canning pan?
baire702 2 years ago
Nope! I just sit them down in there and pull them out with tongs. (I am sure a rack would be easier though!)
