I won't solve all problems, but when trucks stop carting food to your local grocery store it won't be as bad if you have a garden patch. Also I think we'll have learn to make moon-shine and grow hemp. The Ford Model-A used hemp for fuel. Diesel automobiles will be okay in that scenario. They won't run well, but they'll limp along to transport goods.
I think this can be pulled from the fire. Locally grown foods are a huge first step. Peace and love.
This reminds me of the period leading up to the current financial crisis. People who did the math were saying for years that this financial crunch was coming. They were ignored ... but in the end they were vindicated.
Sadly I see the same thing happening with oil.
When demand for oil picks up again costs will go through the roof.
I wish someone would explain why oil is so cheap right now. Of course part of it is the economic collapse, but that's not all of it.
When prices were high last summer (2008), many OPEC nations started massive construction projects which required continuous high oil revenue. When the housing market imploded and demand slipped, OPEC nations couldn't afford to cut production. Crude inventories are now at 5 year highs, and OPEC keeps pumping like crazy.
Predictions,we hit peak production july 08 high prices caused food and energy to rise causing inflation, interest rates rose, people went broke, finanical crisis as people stopped spending and bad loans showed. When the world comes out of recession high prices will return causing another recession, causing demand to drop and prices to lower, in and out of recessons. Rioting in USA by xmas 09 as people lost homes jobs and retirement 401k ira lose it. You will learn what its like to be alive.
bush lifted offshore drilling as a treat to the oil companies in the middle east that were charging us around $200 a barrel so bush was just like k....well get our own and it droped exponentially even though bush is a fuck tard and offshore drilling is terrible because i believe its for every gallon of gasoline it pollutes roughly 700 gallons of water
so you choose whats more important size of your wallet or the health of the planet....
now that we have peaked, this slowdown in growth the markets are having are a good thing looking at it in a perverted way.
Our civilisation only functions on food water & energy terms by burning hydrocarbons in whatever form.
we have started the transition time and looking at the transition trends, it's not looking good at all. no light at the end of the tunnel this will kill our civilisation by the look of things, and long term reduce the population with all kind of bad things we all hate
even if humans would have to grow food indoors breath filtered air and would only be able to go outside for 30 minutes a day due to environmental changes and acid rain..... they would still burn hydrocarbons and reduce the humans & all other species in the process, because we are Irrational Beings!
so true! I don't know we're irrational but, one of the problems is that we have so many stupid people in so many important positions. And I'm not talking about just politicians, look at around you: highschool teachers who watch the cheesiest crap on TV, dumb people who have masters in education who don't even know who Tolstoy is! The list goes on forever...So everyone gets to consume no matter how limited they are...
He keeps warning people that the stuff is about to hit the fan (very much like what Gerald Celente is forecasting). Rogers has an impressive track record when it comes to making economic projection; but of course nobody in power listens to him.
Or maybe it's just that TPTB are aware that they can't save us, so their only goal is now to save themselves.
Grow your own food locally.

@bustermk2 They won't be vindicated cause it's going to be like mad max and most of the human population is probably going to starve to death.

What's the name of that American guy in the bow tie? I've never seen him before.

His name is Jim Rogers.
He keeps warning people that the stuff is about to hit the fan (very much like what Gerald Celente is forecasting). Rogers has an impressive track record when it comes to making economic projection; but of course nobody in power listens to him.
