One thing I can say for sure is it wasn't a bad choice of field to get into chemistry in this day and age. Chemistry knowledge is at the core of nanotechnology inventions but I'm thinking of transferring to biotechnology as that field comes into play in human applications of nanotechnology and on top of that there are some fairly revolutionary discoveries being made with stem cells and the likes. Its a petty most universities force you to specialize in one or the other.

I'm not talking about violating the laws of physics I'm talking about working around them. For example we may come up with a low energy method of turning wires into superconductors that completely eliminate friction then we could make magnetic perpetual motion devices. Wrap a coil around them and you have a perpetual generator.
Lets say you eliminated all the friction, and the wires were magically superconducting. Even so, generating current induces drag and the moving part will be slowed down.
Yeah good point. There'd be wind resistance unless you turn the thing into a vacuum too. My point was that by eliminating certain factors you can work around the laws of physics. Like in chemistry some reactions require high temperatures but if you add a catalyst the reaction can occur at room temperature.
Even eliminating all the losses from air resistance and friction-- a free turning magnet in space for example. The moment you surround it with a coil and start pulling a current off it, there are forces acting on the turning magnet which would cause it to slow down as you pull energy away from it. It won't keep on turning when you induce a magnetic drag to generate electricity.
Yeah thats why I said good point. When wrote the example I wasn't thinking about the fact the coil produces current in order to create a magnetic field that counteracts the induced magnetic field. An example of working around the laws of physics would be an DC motor. The commutator switched the direction of the current so that the motor keeps running. In your example the space magnet I'd focus on harvesting the charge as soon as its induced in order to remove the opposing magnetic field.
Obviously its not that simple or it would have been done by now but just because we haven't figured something out yet doesn't mean we wont in the future.
It's a good thought, but a catalyst isn't really a way around the laws of physics because all a catalyst does is provide a reaction path for the rate limiting step with a lower activation energy which makes the system reach equilibrium faster. Other than catalyst and temperature, about all you can do is change the concentrations of stuff (ex: boil off product) in the reactor to shift the equilibrium and drive the reaction to further completion.
There are already low temperature superconductors with electricity circulating in them. However to turn them into a generator is impossible as the applied load will stop the electrical flow. Simple physics. You can't have a generator producing power without at least a higher power input. Get with the program.
High temperature superconductors you mean? I know we have low temperature superconductors the problem is cooling them down requires energy. Obtaining temperatures near absolute 0 is no simple matter. If we could come up with room temperature superconductors we'd have something. Theres energy all around us. Its just a matter of utilizing it. God I hate that saying "get with the program".
A perfect perpetual motion machine would only generate as much energy as it consumed so it would still need a source of fuel to be able to do useful work. Such a device might have potential for storing energy generated somewhere else (ex: energy collected from solar panels stored for use at night) but would still have to compete with other more developed, refined technologies like fuel cells and chemical batteries which would probably only be feasible for large scale applications.

In order to for a theory to become a law, it must be empirically proven. That's why evolution is still a theory. Such things are usually powered by inductive, not deductive, reasoning. You can gather what appear to be clues to support it, but until it has an actual foundation, it can, and invariably will, topple.

Build yourself a machine and test it out for yourself. Does a waterfall powered turbine contradict the law of conservation of mass? No its just utilizing the energy of something that exists in the environment. However, like most scientists I have at least enough background in physics to know that machines need to run on something and that no machine puts out more energy than you put into it. Energy is the capacity of a physical system to perform work. What 'work' is being performed? The concept of magnets polarity being used to rotate something is great but if it cannot genrate enought tourque or RPM to be used for a practicle use (say a generator) is then useless except for demonstrating theory. Don't call it anything other than perpetual motion.

Did this video's poster even bother to watch it? Its stated clearly at 0:48 that the wheel is being pushed by blowing air and the magnets are used to reduce friction. i came up with an idea... i dont go anywhere unless i have my magnets to play with and keep my mind occupied... but i found with 6 magnets i have.. i built asmall pyramid with the "snake egg" magnets (they were cheap dont hate!). 3 across the bottom and 2 on top, whilst i hold one in my hand. i turn the magnet in my hand slowly to gain momentum from the pyramid. as i gradually increase the speed of turning the pyramid turns faster and faster. im uses VERY little energy to move the magnets

One thing I can say for sure is it wasn't a bad choice of field to get into chemistry in this day and age. Chemistry knowledge is at the core of nanotechnology inventions but I'm thinking of transferring to biotechnology as that field comes into play in human applications of nanotechnology and on top of that there are some fairly revolutionary discoveries being made with stem cells and the likes. Its a petty most universities force you to specialize in one or the other.

My areas of research interest include surface chemistry and photo-oxidation characteristics of polyurethane films. In my spare time, I'm an internet troll with about 20 youtube accounts. For example we may come up with a low energy method of turning wires into superconductors that completely eliminate friction then we could make magnetic perpetual motion devices. Wrap a coil around them and you have a perpetual generator.

Yeah good point. There'd be wind resistance unless you turn the thing into a vacuum too. My point was that by eliminating certain factors you can work around the laws of physics. Like in chemistry some reactions require high temperatures but if you add a catalyst the reaction can occur at room temperature.

Even eliminating all the losses from air resistance and friction-- a free turning magnet in space for example. The moment you surround it with a coil and start pulling a current off it, there are forces acting on the turning magnet which would cause it to slow down as you pull energy away from it. It won't keep on turning when you induce a magnetic drag to generate electricity.

Yeah thats why I said good point. When wrote the example I wasn't thinking about the fact the coil produces current in order to create a magnetic field that counteracts the induced magnetic field. An example of working around the laws of physics would be an DC motor. The commutator switched the direction of the current so that the motor keeps running. In your example the space magnet I'd focus on harvesting the charge as soon as its induced in order to remove the opposing magnetic field.

It's a good thought, but a catalyst isn't really a way around the laws of physics because all a catalyst does is provide a reaction path for the rate limiting step with a lower activation energy which makes the system reach equilibrium faster. Other than catalyst and temperature, about all you can do is change the concentrations of stuff (ex: boil off product) in the reactor to shift the equilibrium and drive the reaction to further completion.

There are already low temperature superconductors with electricity circulating in them. However to turn them into a generator is impossible as the applied load will stop the electrical flow. A perfect perpetual motion machine would only generate as much energy as it consumed so it would still need a source of fuel to be able to do useful work. Such a device might have potential for storing energy generated somewhere else (ex: energy collected from solar panels stored for use at night) but would still have to compete with other more developed, refined technologies like fuel cells and chemical batteries which would probably only be feasible for large scale applications.

I'm not a physicist. I'm a chemist. However, like most scientists I have at least enough background in physics to know that machines need to run on something and that no machine puts out more energy than you put into it. Efficiency is always less than 100% no matter what you do. Unlike you I also have the common sense to know that if something looks to good to be true, it probably is.

The laws of physics are dependent on variables some of which we don't even know about. Any real scientist knows that he doesn't know shit about the universe. Nobody presenting theories to explain these devices state that they output more than is input what they're saying is that the visible direct input is a small fraction of the input which comes from elsewhere.

In Nikola Teslas autobiography you can find a few reports of professors and others misinterpreting his ideas as perpetual motion schemes claiming that they're impossible ideas but every time he built the machine and they worked. What Tesla brought to the world no doubt seemed "too good to be true". Imagine the idea of electricity being used to light every building in the city when previously there had been no alternative to fire since the origin of humanity.

i have more fun reading the comments, if you believed in all that math you would not have found this video, its fun to hope,or have a little faith in something, if not you would not have math, you have to believe in something. i like solar cells now that some free energy

Too bad these guys don't spend their obviously excessive amounts of free time on building things that are real or actually can help society. Their just "spinning their wheels" (excuse the pun) on this stuff. Someone needs to get these guys an electrical engineering book, I'm sure they have the time to read it.

no shit... I think what gets these suckers is that they create these simple machines that have almost no resistance and they think because it spins for 5 minutes its creating electricity all the while throwing common sense and hundreds of years of science out the window

The "laws of physics" are theories, we discovered something and we made up an explanation for it. Further research will lead to more detailed theories or "laws" and will help us paint a clearer picture. Don't judge something incomplete
