  • @fatguyinchair3 Completely agree man. He's only gotten better, his lyrics are getting more mature too. Few young bands have potential to follow him. Maybe the black keys. Actually, check out Casper and the howling, they owe a lot to the boss!

  • the rising nd working on a dream are pure class!

  • 32 Republicans chime in.

  • Una puta maravilla de canción. No puedo dejar de escucharla. Enorme!!

  • This song is not about vengence or retailation? Where exactly do we put the father of the Shafia family?

  • Check out the Wife.

  • I don't understand how anyone can not like The Boss. His lyrics a beautiful and real and watch him sing them live, watch his face, he means that shit. He belts it out of his heart its real. I remember listening to Springsteen in the car with my dad and even as a little kid being moved. Now im 18 and a musician myself and I cant think of another artist who means more to me.

  • The drummer is STONED XD

  • Damn this guy has heart

  • i was a sleep until i heard the rising

  • This song is not about vengance or retaliation, but the force of will of an individual, such as the ones who sacrificed their lives on the 9/11 attacks. It also makes reference to Jesus Christ's resucitation, who after being brutally tortured, rose from his tomb with glory. This song also means the strength that people posses in order to overcome difficult times.

  • ...and the search begins for aslewis72's comment...

  • A songwriter with substance - pure poetry

  • What is the sixty pound stone?

  • @CJUSMC3 Lol.. a stone that weighs sixty pounds!

  • Wikipedia: "

The Rising is the 12th studio album by American recording artist Bruce Springsteen, released in 2002 on Columbia Records. In addition to being Springsteen's first studio album in seven years, it was also his first with the E Street Band in 18 years.[1] It is centered around Springsteen's reflections on the September 11, 2001 attacks."

  • "History: While most of the songs were written after September 11, 2001, a few of them pre-date the attacks. It's been rumoured that Springsteen got the inspiration for the album a few days after the 9/11 attacks, when a stranger in a car stopped next to him, wound down his window and said: "We need you now." Springsteen also told this story to journalist Mark Binelli in the August 22, 2002 issue of Rolling Stone."

  • Always the Best..saw this in Vancouver..so good to see the band back again after almost 15 years! La..la..la..la..la..la....

  • Love..IS a burning thing?

  • Love..IS a burning thing?

  • Going to see him in Dublin next July, Can't wait, it will be my first time seeing Bruce live in Concert

  • @nightfox ...you are for a brilliant night,,,been to see The Boss many times...enjoy.enjoy.enjoy..from an old springsteen fan..slainte..

  • @loftusboy9 I know, really looking forward to it

  • Bruce we'll see in Italy!

  • que puto teeeeemazo!!!!

  • He is such a sensitive artist! He writes and sings about all the human emotions in the world, and also about the problems and joys we have. He has valid opinion about politics, economy, human rights, environment. And on concert he is charismatic. He gave me some great moments!

  • @laci987654 Well said...hes a genius at heart

  • this is just one of those iconic concerts... everything about it is pure brilliance.

  • This performance transcends mere rock and roll music. This song reaches into the spiritual nature of humans and this performance fills the void better than any religious ceremony can. This is Bruce's sermon and it rocks!

  • Love these guys. A lot of bands might rock harder, but this guy can write killer songs, and the band is as good as it gets. Everyone in the band comes from a different background and he's even got his wife in there. That's what this country's all about.

  • my father was the biggest bruce springsteen fan in the world and he died on 9/11 he was in the first tower....i just have a feeling that he influenced this in some way

  • @jets495 -yes

  • @jets495 you know it!

  • I read on Wikipedia that, since 2002, "The Rising" is one of to albums to receive a 5/5 stars rating by Rolling Stones. I'd say they were spot on.

  • @z28931 Fuck all the queers? That's a weird statement...

  • Bruce Springsteen: probably the best artist in the World!

  • @Simowaifai Probably? Sure!

  • It's crazy that someone would be bringing their "angry white man" hate to a Bruce Springsteen page!! Bruce wrote "The Streets of Philadelphia" for crying out loud

  • This song isn't necessarily about 9/11, but it can be seen as a metaphor for a nation coming to terms with it's moment to be it's best. I think it can just as easily be about a personal moment of glory.

  • @Umberto2 actually it is

  • Thumbs up if VH1 brought you here

  • COME ON UP FOR THE RISING!

    Remember to be kind, y'all.

  • Thank you Bruce ... for expressing our shock, horror, fear, pain, anger, confusion, faith, hope and resilience on that beautiful sunny, clear day on 9/11/01. I remember it so vividly, but was so numb. I could never express the overwhelming multitude of feelings that sent shock waves through my body and psyche. But, of all songwriters - you nailed it. You captured every emotion in "The Rising". I thank you for helping me heal. I'm sure others agree.

  • Two 9/11 Tribute songs written this week :-

Fallen Towers and Frank & Pablo.

I hope you enjoy the sentiment during this special week...

Click Always the Way link below to watch and listen

  • Only Bruce could some up the horror and hope of September 11th in a five minute song. Still one of his best

  • As a person who lives in the NY metro area who lost friends that day, one of whom ran into the building to save other, this song cuts deep and true to the heart. Other saw it form afar, we saw it on the skyline and smelled the funeral fire that was.

May god embrace them all as we would if we only could once again.

  • @neiliden0124 The last line is beautiful.

  • e o cara que pode salvar o mundo

  • I love this performance of one of the Boss's greatest tracks. Watching this, I still can't believe The Big Man has gone. Just doesn't seem right.

  • @lelobest ..what....?

  • Remember that Barcelona had it's own terrorism attack and so I could see where this song would be cathartic for the Spainards as well. God bless you Bruce.

  • sjconker---if there is anyone "limp" around here, it is you.

  • Is there a better storyteller than Springsteen? Etheridge is accurate in equating Springsteen to Shakespeare. He tells a story in his songs, like a poet does with poems, using every type of figurative language available. Thanks, Bruce, for this song of remembrance and healing.

  • R.I.P Dad

  • There is no one like Springsteen and Clarence and the E. Street Band. I like classic rock. I like Motown. I like opera. I like Jazz, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker (still Clarence better tenor sax, see New York Serenade song on The Wild, Innocent and E. Street Shuffle album, 1973). I like some rap. I like 80s pop. Still Springsteen is unique. Melissa Etherige called Springsteen Shakespeare set to music. He is the true American poet.

  • WOOOOWW!!!!

  • Max must be the best drummer of all time.

  • Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant

  • This show was on Palladia last night. All of you who were there were lucky, this was one amazing show. I love how much energy the crowd had...it was electric

  • Big Man!

  • i'm looking for this song . does anyone know where can I find this song so I can download it? sorry if some of you don't like to have song without buy the CDs. thanks.

  • @watchoutdab

    ITunes?

  • @watchoutdab iTunes or Spotify!

  • RIP Big Man, His talent just joined the great concert in the sky.

  • He's better live!

  • Rest in Peace Clarence. We miss you.

  • @ClassicRockDJdotcom you are right mate he will be sadly missed.

  • cant believe all these idiots that still believe there is a GOD ffs get a life and just listen to the music or piss of to a religious chat room with the rest of the idiots ,YOU have heard who passed away right?

  • R.I.P.clarence

  • @666cc99d surely will NEVER be the same without him......... :(

  • @ONEMOREGUITARRIFF Sorry,I'm not sure that I know what a "reneck" is you ignorant mother fucker. Did you mean redneck??? Your way off. I'm just a God fearing American that believes in the same things that the men that founded this country believed in. I'm not a gay butt fucking liberal like you are. You started this cyber war..... I didn't make a comment directed towards you.

  • @z28931 ; I am sure Bruce Springsteen will read your comments and then change his political beliefs... Dare you call him the Anti-Christ?? See it's people like you who are so blinded by the rules of religion that you neglect to see that there are people out there who are a lot more evil than you would have believe. You are all such little men with big beliefs yet do little but hide behind your religion. It's ridiculous. Long Live The Boss.

  • @JofusSunshyne Your absolutely right... there are bigger evils out there... it's called the anti-american liberal politicians, and the idiot liberal voters. Those two combined will be the end of America. Rome was once good, but then they made a few boo boos and now it is merely a tourist attraction. Welcome back to Rome America.

  • @z28931 Fuck you. Gay people deserve the same rights and privileges as any straight couple out there.

  • @KeiIshiyama Fuck you cocksucker. Your going straight to hell for going against the bible. That goes for the rest of you....enjoy burning in hell liberals. You don't deserve to breathe the air that real human beings breathe.... YOU ARE ANIMALS. FUCK ALL THE QUEERS.

  • @z28931 Like your words are gonna scare me. I know God hates my guts, but he still has no right to decide how other people live their lives. No one does, especially not people like you. I'm not a liberal; gay people are HUMANS who deserve the same HUMAN rights other straight people do.

  • @KeiIshiyama You must have no fear of the afterlife and god's wrath. God has every right to do whatever he wants to do, that's why his name is GOD. And you are a liberal if you believe that gays are "HUMAN".. and deserve "RIGHTS"..... They are animals, just like my male dog that will hump another male dog.... You are a liberal, and you are what's wrong with this country....The only right that gays deserve is to breathe air and be shipped to a remote island away from humans.

  • @z28931 God created everyone to be in His image. Clearly, he has a bad judge of character when it comes to people like you. You are totally disgracing this video with this presence, and despite what you think, you're the one going to Hell for the way you talk about other human beings.

  • @z28931 Calm down. I advise you keep your extreme, hate-filled opinions to yourself.

  • @z28931 Gays have as much rights as you do, if not more ,as you are scum. God loves all, regardless of sexual preference. What WBC preach is basic terrorism. God does not hate fags, god does not hate America. God loves all. But hey, I dont believe in him. Go suck a lemon, if Bruce saw your post, he would surely hunt you down and blast your ears in with a high powered amp and play the guitar solo from this song at full volume directly into your ears

  • @nightfox And he would have a bullet in his fucking head. I'm not a member of the WBC as I find them to be a joke.

  • @z28931 And Guess where you will be afterwards? Jail. You are an immature cunt. Leave this video and the internet for your own good, and safety. You clearly dont know shit.

  • @z28931 fags, queers, whatever anyone may call them are persons, and i respect theyr choise....if they respect mine.i hate childmolesters, but gay people are not that so live and let live.

  • @GENESIization sound bud

  • @z28931 90% of American housewives and most teenagers would be hung in public if modern society took everything printed in the bible as literal fact. I have no quams with your religion. I have a problem with idiots who take a 2,000 year old fantasy book as ultimate, universal law. That book was written by ignorant, misogynistic, slave owning men and has been translated and edited to fit the editors purposes and intentions dozens and dozens of times. Be weary of blind faith.

  • MUSICA PER L'ANIMA GRANDE BAND È BIG BRUCE THE BOSS)))))))))))))9999

  • Just recently rediscovered the boss and the "E" street band,I am saddened at the death of Clarence and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends for their loss.

  • Comment removed

  • Death of Clarence makes me watch all his performances again.. What a legend, RIP

  • Miss you Big Man. Thank you Bruce.

  • RIP Clarence, you'll be missed. Nobody will ever quite match the energy you brought to the stage.

  • RIP, Mr. Clemons.

  • The one on the drums, is he a computer?.

  • @unanacoreta haha...would almost seem like it. Max Weinburg just uses perfect posture when he plays.

  • this song has become a drug for me!

  • @GlamGio Directions for the drugs: Please listen to this song at least once an hour to keep insanity. PLEASE USE AS DIRECTED Lol ^o^

  • I see what you're saying - but I thin Bruce wrote this song and every song on The Rising to give people hope during hard times. Not to berate each other on youtube comment boards. The Rising is about loss and hope in times of sorrow. Politics comes second.

  • why bring up politics, he wrote this for that reason!!!!

  • why bring up politics, hw wrote this for that reason!!!!

  • why argue about politics? just enjoy the damn song.

  • Fantastic song =)

  • Thank you USA for giving us bruce springsteen.

  • bruce is a great musician but wow is he a dick in real life, doesnt give a shit about the people that made him what he is now...

  • @MMAfighter87 what makes you say that? you personally had a bad experience?

  • chapeau bruce and continue to be as you are !

  • llallallallalà!!

  • @espChris93 I'm assuming you are you a college kid or 20 something conspiracy theorist. Listen you liberal douchebag, get a life.

  • America had got some problems. But I'd be darned if i've ever seen this much patriotism in another country. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!!!

  • does anyone know where I can download this song ? I need the original song not the live version. thanks :)

  • thank you team six.

  • If they had captured Bin Laden alive, they should have forced him to listen to this song full blast before being executed, to let him know that we will not be defeated. We will come on up. America, and the rest of the world that has been subjected to attacks from Islamic extremists, will come on up for the rising! We will prevail, terrorism will not!

  • @JonBerghausen If only that were the truth and we had not been bringing terror to the shores of foreign lands. Watch the video "Collateral Murder" to get a taste of what I'm saying. Americans are not the noble peace bringers and stabilizers that half the hypocrites in the US claim they are. The reason our government is allowed to destroy and pillage the world for their own greed is our own citizens apathy so don't drag Bruce's name in the mud by aligning him with war mongering.

  • tell it like it is.....

  • AWESOME!

  • hi ! guys

how are you guys? i hopr you guys are fine. this is lisalove, i'm writing to tell you that the enter rising cd is one powerful cd, and i find that the rising cd should have won all five grammy awards than just three. i guest people does not know good music when they hear it i guess. and i also find that bruce springsteen is not only a rock and roll legend he is also the world's greatesttttttttttttttttttttt singer of all of times and i find people should see that that's all lisa

  • Bruce is just so into it here

  • What does this song have to do with killing Osama? It's a beautiful song about hope and unity in times of grief. Using this song as a soundtrack for killing Osama kind of ruins the song, for me at least.

  • Eff you bin ladin, rot in hell you piece of shit.

  • @jfpack You know the CIA had deals with Bin Laden and helped to supply/train his militias to fight the Soviet Union right? Then when we patched up relations with Russia, we dumped all connections to Bin Laden & Afghanistan leaving his friends, family and fellow countrymen that he fought so hard to defend, to be massacred. Who's the real "piece of shit"? Also Osama was wanted for the late 90's embassy bombings NOT 9/11 the FBI had no evidence connecting him to the trade center attacks.

  • osama dead come on up for the rising

  • Got the bastard! Awesome song Bruce!

  • @aslewis72 Yup! And on the same day that Hitler died! WOOHOO!

  • @GooCoooorp Hitler died April 30th. OBL died May 2nd. Close but no cigar.

  • @PhinfanUK OBL died on the 8th anniversery of Bush's Mission Accomplished Speech.

  • @aslewis72 The song is not about revenge.

  • @bjglidden absolutely not, this song is about hope.

  • @aslewis72 - big Springsteen fan, great song...but just remember the good old u s of a was the country who funded, trained and supplied the Talaban in the 80's and has for the last sixty years defended the country which produced 12 of the 9/11 attackers......go figure...????

  • @pdalaigh Well, I don't think we had any idea that the Taliban would rebel against us, so we can't truly be held accountable for their actions. The Cold War had a lot of things going on, including the US vs. USSR.

  • Everytime I hear this song, I get tears in my eyes. THANK YOU FOR KILLING THAT SON OF A BITCH!

  • it's a good day today

  • After everything that has happened to today USA needs to remember why the Boss wrote this song. And Remember all those who have sacrificed to defend our freedom. and Honor New York Cites Heroes the NYPD, Port Authority Police, FNDY and the People of washington at the Pentagon

  • BIN LADEN IS DEAD, BABY! SUCK IT, AMERICA HATERS!

  • fuck the 20 people who don't like this.

for the few new songs of Bruce's that are good, this is one of the best in his repertoire.

  • magique.

  • If anyone truly focuses on the words in this song they will not be able to see anything but hope, a unity of mind, body and spirit between all men and a fervent prayer for all those who leave this earth since no man is immortal and eventaully all men die be it at the hands of terrorists or by natural causes. This song speaks to this.

  • This song's better in the original key. Much more emotional.

  • BOSS.Please come to Japan and sing rising.
