  • Who disliked this????? Every time I need some cheering up, I watch this clip.

    Kat

  • I'm going to do this on and escalator some day....and watch as no one around me gets it...

  • I totally remember this from "The Soup," it cracked me up! I REALLY wanted to do my own version of this (but with lip-synching, my singing is enough to send anyone running for the hills) several years ago, but never did...and then I saw this and wanted to sing it on an escalator!!!

This clip cracks me up but I can see why the show didn't last.

  • I liked the show

  • ...why why would you cancel that...w we need that XD

  • 'Blackpool', the original British show was a really good one. The songs fitted well with the moment, and the actors were good, they didn't do 'too much'.

'Viva Laughlin' is just horrible. The actors are bad, they screams, they not sing. (In Blackpool, the actors's voices were softer) Plus, everything is ridiculious, they wanna do 'too much', because the scene takes place in America.

Plus, the anchorman is funny, in the vid, love his ironic 'We need that !' ;D (I don't this show, I'm french)

  • Apparently, this is a remake of a British show. By most accounts, that version was successful.

Did the British show have the same half-assed quasi musical format? Because I don't see how that could work at all.

  • @archer1949

It did, and it worked a lot better. The shift to musical numbers wasn't as abrupt, and it was more singing, and less "singing along." I can hear Elton better than I can hear the actor. It sounds like his singing is about as bad as his American accent, though.

  • Who would believe two years later Glee would take the same format and make it a succes, ROFL XD

  • @das81 Especially when Glee isn't any better.

  • This is my favorite Soup clip bit ever!

  • i live here lol haha if you dont belive me i got to laughlin jr sr high school

  • LMAO!!! it never gets old!

  • this is so awesome! i love this part

  • A fine example of when actors lose bets....Big bets...to the mob. The scary one that the Italians don't even talk about

  • My favorite soup moment. XD

  • Ok my day is now made! I know I saw this three years ago and it's just as funny now as it was then. "Why would you cancel that? WE NEED THAT" thanks for the pick me up

  • But... it worked so well in the British version. It is disappointing when the conversion doesn't go so well

  • haha see without bad tv shows the soup would be canceled

  • im from laughlin and not even the tweakers from bullhead act that weird

  • @trev1872004 Golden Valley makes up for it. . . XDXDXDXD

  • It's the Cop Rock of our generation

  • @wblstudios correction -- THIS makes Cop Rock look BRILLIANT and entertaining. Not just sad.

    Joel's facial expressions ftw though.

  • Yeah... FINALLY Joel McHale is starting to get the respect he deserves. Hell, he's the star of a TV show that has CHEVY CHASE as a character.

  • To me, it's just Joel's facial expressions that make this clip so freaking hilarious.

  • @saikyoryu Completely agree! Especially the little frowny face at the end. :(

    Hee!

    Kat

  • lol everytime I watch this it makes me laugh so hard! I love you, Joel!

  • America just wasn't ready for this. We're too close-minded and immature. Great hit in Europe with different cast. I wish we could have seen just a little bit more before we discarded it for good.

  • @andidance...lmao. it has nothing to be with being close-minded and immature. the show was bad all around. the acting, and singing were awful. not to mention they were singing in front of a tape.

  • In the name of sanity what were they thinking.

Nothing needs to be taken out of context.

Imagine if cast members of CSI, LOST or Simon Cowell started bursting into song (badly).

'It's a part of this show' - Yeh and one reason why it was cancelled after 2 episodes.

  • And the dance number really are NOT the biggest problem with this clip - the acting in the first few seconds is just...astoundingly bad. Also, you can barely hear the actor over Elton.

(Then again, having seen the "Sympathy For The Devil" clip - that reads like a list of how not to do a musical number.)

  • Gotta wonder what he thinks of "Glee"...

  • At least that show has an EXCUSE for people to break out in song. It centers around a musical troup. They're not just doing it for no reason.

  • is the 1983 part from the show or just a random clip?

  • Its part of the show.

  • it was part of the show, just a flashback

  • I watched both episodes of "Viva Laughlin" and I liked it. Not to ruin the humor of this video, but those clips look really dumb taken out of context.

  • "The show that was loved by hundreds..."

  • We need that!

    Classic!

BTW this show was a remake of Blackpool, which they say was a good Brit series

  • HAHAHA!!! i love this mann that show was amazing (never watched it exept on the soup!) I LOVE JOELS FACE!! IT MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD!! "why would you cancel that? We need that!"

  • Loly

  • We do need that!!

  • This show was ever so bad in an ever so wonderful way!!!

  • hahahaha! "we need that!"

  • I love the expression on his face! It had me ROTFL

  • Joel...you are sooo funny. Thanks... What a piece of crap show that was. Long live the soup!!
