My Great Grandfather Captain Michael J. Guzda flew a B-25 Mitchell bomber from those blasted nights in 1942 through 1945. He never once was shot down, and he survived the war. Sadly, in some way, he WAS shot down, meaning, he died in 2002 from Throat Cancer. That is MY WWII Story.

@jonlscott Sorry about you Great Uncle, had a great grandfather who fought in the war. He was a P-51 Mutsang pilot for the USAAF, he flew bomber escort missions over Germany as well, he managed to come back but died about a year ago. He was about...I wanna say 22 when he first enlisted.

@jonlscott Sorry about you uncle,but hey many men went down fighting in the biggest battlefield ever,the sky.Your uncle was probably a courageous man,flying in over Germany,shooting down 109's and maybe doing some bomber escorts.In overall every man who fought during this war should be decorated a hero.

@jonlscott For great honor comes success. He made it to Germany for his heart and honor was fighting for his Land His family. His future Family. But the success of them getting in to Germany was all in it self.

@jonlscott Well, I hope that your great uncle got the respect he deserved. I also think that more allied nations should've been in the game e.g USSR, Malta, The Dambusters, RCAF, The Aussies, China etc

the thing is China in WW 2 have really really really weak airforce. In fact, in 1942, china have no airplane left. ANd their airplane is not WW 2 airplane, is one of those old style 2 wing airplane
