  • Is that the roof of the Kennedy Center? =P

  • I absolutely LOVE Afro Blue as well as Penotonix

  • damn they sound good

  • This is better than the original

  • Reggie, wow. amazing

  • I love their sound! they make a cappella cool!

  • the white girl kinda looks like that emily deschanel girl in this. a little. idk haha

  • I'm back listening again a day later. I would have loved to hear their version of the Sergio Mendes song at 1:04

  • The first measure of music made me think ".... Manhattan Transfer..." but after a few more measure, oh my goodness, so much better. Unfortunately, I suspected they wouldn't get too far because this program has shunned anything jazz since season 1.

  • I've waited YEARS for a group that had the great harmony of the "5th Demision (spelling?). Brain freeze...I still hear it in my ears 3 mins later.

  • Listen to the bass line all the way through and I dare you not to get goosebumps.

  • Loved this!

  • I love christies voice its amazing I could hear it all day

  • This is what singing and music is all about!!! They will get a record deal else where!!! Love you guys!!!!!

  • Bass Killin. I hate this group is out!!!

  • Love this group there rendition of this song is absolutely beautiful and better then the original, pure butter and grits.

  • 2:05 I love how much he gets into it with the head bob lol

  • god! this is better than the actual song! :D

  • THAT BASS IS SO SICK UGH HE KNOW HE CAN DO THAT BASS!!!!LOL:)

  • @lauren7247 reggie is crazy, simply crazy

  • the female lead vocal on this one really have a very good voice. =D

  • I actually had grits with warm butter yesterday. And yes, it tasted like Christy sounds.

  • I love this rendition of 'put your record on'. I have pushed replay almost 10 times today. The soloist is superb, the bass amazing, and the group cohesion, blending of parts, and soul/jazz utterly amazing!

  • That lead girl is so good... and to the comment about the token white girl, Afro-Blue is a vocal jazz group... anyone can sing jazz.

  • they're my favorite group :)

  • i could listen to just the guy on the bass for hours

  • bass guy doesn't get enough credit

  • @johnfinfin what you mean he doesnt get enough credit? they mention reggie basically every performance

  • haha sounds like Sara is down with the brown lol

  • The first time I heard this, I pressed the replay button like 50 times if not more...AMAZING!!!!

  • Shitt 2:08 - 2:11

  • Loved it!!! But why do ignorant people always have to comment? If you don't like it then keep it moving!! I loved everyone in the group, including the "white" girl. Thank God for Martin Luther King!!!! I hope they ALL go very far!! Forget the haters!!!!!

  • 1:41

Whoot whoot, a true start button

  • This group is fantastic. They're my favorites to win because they have crazy technical skills and a rock-solid blend. I can't help but love everything they do.

  • 00:47 michelle obama?!?!? wth?

  • Pure sexiness in a song. Even the performance itself screams relaxed, classy sexiness!

The dude singing the bass is just ... dasfhsihdfsk. Need more words in the English language to express how beyond cool this is!

  • is anyone else fascinated by the chords on The Star Spangled Banner in the beginning? i keep on replaying it even though its like 5 seconds. lol

  • @multigenremusician it astounded me that they could do that a capella

  • @multigenremusician Look up their album "Its a Matter of Pride" It has that whole version of the Star Bangled Banner, plus a ton of other great stuff.

  • Hey-white women can sing soul, too. I'm sure she already feels a bit awkward standing out so much, so I give her KUDOS! White girl, if you weren't good you wouldn't have made the group. So don't care about what anyone else thinks or be ashamed of your skin color just because it's different.

  • @carlotta4th ....her name is Eliza by the way....

  • @cratlady03 Yes, indeed (sorry Eliza). She has a lovely voice.

  • so tight. . amazed!

  • Traditionally Black university. a couple seconds later. Shows White girl.

  • Mariah looks so damn sexi to me, gud gawd lol this group, from the first performance, had me addicted to the show now....great job

  • @hebrewhammershabbat, me too! I would love to hear that arrangement!

  • Reggie's bass is out of this world!!!!!!

  • The white girl dancing around looks so awkward.

  • I want hear more of Mas Que Nada at 1:02.

  • I feel like they are better than Committed. Better bass, more textured harmonies, and better overall song selection. They actually sound like a song on the radio, not a capella.

  • It's Afro Blue vs Pentatonix vs Urban Method in the Finals.

  • @okfinejustin I say Pentatonix takes it all.

  • they just made me love this more than the original

  • You all are awesome!!

  • Another "butter" reference from Shawn Stockman! Remember season two after Committed sang "This Love":

"Therry, dude, your voice is so butter."

Here: "Christy, your voice feels like warm butter on grits."

    What's with Shawn and butter?

Other than that, pretty good performance.

  • if they dnt win im never watching that show again...

  • What with this video dude??????????? Its real bad!

  • I think this group will win the competition this year, they are amazing, so polished and smooth, such a soothing sound, you wish the song would never end, and the girl who sang lead in this song has a beautiful soft jazzy vibe that reminds me of Diana Ross, she doesn't blow you away with raw power, but her voice is intoxicating and you can never grow tired of hearing it.

I am very, very impressed with Afro Blue.

  • I'm torn between Afro Blue and Delilah. I'll be happy as long as one of them win.

  • I cannot get enough of them OMG!

  • I can not get enough of them OMG!

  • 0:46 seconds I had to pick my face off the floor

  • They are going to win .. their technique is flawless

  • this group is amazing!! My mom and I were trying to figure out the tune that starts on 1:03... we heard before but couldn't put a name on it... it would be great if you could put our minds at ease

  • @jbuckets351 take five al jarreau

  • @jbuckets351 look up Sergio Mendes Mas Que Nada

  • @jbuckets351

Hey there that song at 1:03 is Sergio mendes mas que nada

    /watch?v=ucD0gTr66ho

  • IT'S A RAP THEY WON THIS! AFRO BLUE IS THE BEST!

  • Two people are Helen Keller

  • the lead singers voice has liking to Lalah Hathaway but just not as rich.

  • Yes Afro Blue!! I see you Frat and Roses! #teamSinfonia #SigPhi #teamHowardU

  • Omg their American Boy performance this week was too good. I can't wait for it to be uploaded.

  • @xX0BHART0Xx yes i believe they will win honestly

  • They might as well end the competition now. This group has won in my book. Loved their effortless dance moves too!

  • that made my nut sack swell

  • thats BOSS right there!!!

  • Man o man they killed it hands down. I can see Afro Blue and Delilah going all the way. I won't both versions of the songs performed their way;)

  • This group is AMAZING!!! The bass...smh!!!! Afro Blue and Delilah are my favs!

  • she's so calm and smooooooooooooth!!! love' em!!

  • This group is phenomenal..their ratio of guys to girls is amazing, they are going to able to tackle songs a lot of the other groups aren't going to be able to technically master. This group has the versatility to tackle some harmonically challenging songs. I can't wait to see what they do next, this group is a finalist for sure...and the bass was sick, lead vocal was flawless. Afro blue all the way baby!!!

  • I love their token white girl.

  • @trophymursky me toooooo

  • @trophymursky she looks annoying to me

  • The guy doing the bass is like the next Bobby McFerrin.

  • I like the token white girl.

  • best performance that night.

  • its this group-and deliliah...perhaps urban method because their harmonies and just sick.....this group is gonna` have to be focused because they talent level is off the charts this season, and this group hits the sharps and flats waaay better than the others...a jazz person`s big time enjoyment:)

  • This is an A+++ performance not sure where you got B+ from!

  • this is awesome

  • If it's not Afro-Blue and Delilah in the finals there's something wrong with this show

  • they make it look so easy.. they are easliy top 3.

  • 1 person does't know music

  • @johnsel2006 correct that 2 people dont know music

  • Awesome!!

  • Oh yeah the dude singing the bass..Yassssss lawd!!! #beyonddope

  • @MelodyforMusic put like 10x thumbs up on this statement and group

  • I love this!! My favorite group already!!

  • wOw. this is nice. :) another fave. :)

  • b+?? stop judging the groups, your starting to look pretty stupid.

  • Awesome talents!

  • Wow!

  • Of all the performances I've watched, this is the one group where I can honestly say that I couldn't tell the difference of it being purely a capella or if they were singing to an instrumental. That's how smooth they are. I love them. Their technicality and vocal ability and blending is just so perfect.

  • First time I heard it, I just said oooooh......ooooooooh.

  • Boring? I call it mellow. But it's your prerogative to be wrong....ha ha. I loved it myself.

  • Just shows that you can be a great great singer without having to belt the crap out of something. This group did an amazing job without oversinging, and just being part of the artistry of the piece.

  • the bass is amazing, but this song almost put me to sleep. so boring

  • Please tell me they're doing Mas Que Nada later in the show! Just that small bit in the intro was sick! Either way, this was great. I hope the groups get a cut of their itunes sales, because I have a feeling I'm gonna have to buy everything you guys do.

  • I could listen to this all day...so beautiful!

  • Love the performance. I need my fellow alumni and fans to help push this video and their social media efforts. #AfroBlueDC and Afro-Blue on FB.

  • so far they are my favoreite group

  • Oh my god. I want them to win so badly. So badly. So badly.

  • its smoot jazz.

  • OMG! I had Intro to Speech with the Bass guy! He's mad nice!

  • Comment removed

  • does anybody know where i can get the full version of 1:05- 1:12???? i'm going crazy here!!!!

  • Love it and it was simply amazing!

  • Love it

  • These guys are great, and the bass singer is ridiculous. My mind is officially blown.

  • I must be dreaming they are soooo good

  • Comment removed

  • It's hard for a vocal jazz group to do well in competitions like this, mainly because the sound is considerably more complicated and technical than rock/pop/hip-hop/etc.

Still, they sound like the love child of Committed and Groove For Thought, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.

  • AHH HELL, they hit that Sergio Mendez joint!! DOWP!!!!

  • Also, the 3:00-3:03 Beyonce riff is genius.

  • The lady with the blonde hair is my music teacher!!!

  • The problem with this group as far as the show is concerned is that they're putting music out there that's absolutely too advanced for the show's core audience. They're clearly the best group musically, but like Groover for Thought last year I think they're destined for a mid pack finish simply because the music is inaccessible to an ignorant audience. Still, love them.

  • @loosekanen Don't assume that just because people don't care for jazz that they're ignorant.

  • @loosekanen

I have to disagree with your statement that their music is unaccessible to the audience. Groove for thought killed themselves when that girl forgot the words to the song on "changes". To me that remind me more of Committed with their riffs and blend. Groove for thought didn't have the depth in their harmonies that Afro-Blue and Committed

  • what's the song at 1:04?

  • Anyone know the name of the song at 0:25?

  • this is amazing! big ups to the bass

  • the star-spangled banner during the interview..... i fell in love with this group.

  • The other groups had to be wetting themselves during this performance. AMAZING!

  • @sjulaxboy8 i couldn't agree more!!

  • I would imagine if they didn't make it, Tyler Perry would use a few of them in his Plays.

  • @LaZzOrs Mas Que Nada by Sergio Mendes

  • This group is so much more musically advanced than the others. They are on the same level as Committed harmonically.

  • @aznxkigga

Yeah, I agree. Especially with their performance of American Boy.

  • Comment removed

  • i don't think that's quite true. Committed is really on a whole 'nother level. They do a great job with style and creativity, but HARMONICALLY, but I don't think they're quite as advanced as Committed. Don't get me wrong, they're extremely advanced, but I don't think they're quite "there" yet. I feel like their chords would be more powerful with an extra element of creativity, spontaneity, unpredictability, a feeling that just makes you tingle all over. I don't think Afro-Blue has that yet.

  • connaitre iam soooo proud of you and your group!!!!

  • Whats the name of the song they're singing at 1:04 ?

    Anyone please ???

  • Beautiful sound! All I can say is "WOW"!!!!!

  • Like Butter On Grits! Now that says it all!

  • All I can say is "WOW" amazing!!!!!

  • I love that they the 1 white chick!! awesome! represent! the bass is siiiiickkk...

  • This is a great rendition of this song. Most people don't realize how much the bass player plays a part in Acapella music, this goes all the way back to doo wop. but the bass player was so on point that he set the foundation for the group to do as great and excellent as they did. So far.... I'm team Afro Blue, but still a committed fan at heart lol

  • omgee they are amazing!!!!!!!!! the lead sounds lik jazmine sullivan. :)

  • I've listened to Take 6 and Committed and a bunch of other groups, but this bass man has his own unique style, and it's very sick . good stuff

  • The bass is killing it!

  • HU represent

  • warm butta on grits! #lovedit

  • These singers are PHENOMENAL. Could someone please tell me the name of the song they are singing about 1 minute and 3 seconds into this vid? They are killing it! I can't think of it's name

  • The Mecca represents !!

  • 2:07-2:12 was mad smooth. hope this group takes it

  • B+ WHAT!!!

  • Smooth and stylish, my favorite performance of the first episode.

  • SO.GOOD. aahh got this on repeat

  • Delilah and Afro Blue were hands down the best performers for this first week. Afro Blue - smooth like silk and they made the technical parts of harmonizing look effortless. Delilah - raw passion and power. Their performances were like the difference between slow, gentle love-making on a waterbed and lust-filled screwing on the kitchen floor. Both awesome activities. Can't wait to see what they both come up with in the coming weeks.

  • They Were My Favorite on the show!

  • Warm butta' on gritzzzzzz

  • the next COMMITTED

  • Afro Blue rocked the house! They were technically the best in this competition and-their jazz chord progressions were brilliantly reminiscent of Manhattan Transfer. Harmonies were super tight. They were unmatched in this competition. From the bass up they delivered. The lead singer is crazy smooth. They have the it factor and they are the winners.

  • HU!! You Know!! Awesome job, Bison!

  • Gotta love my HU!! You Know!!!

  • From a techni

  • From a purely technical standpoint this was the best performance of the night.
