  • Anyone know this track

  • @KyleMarnoProducer its Emissions by Dubfire.

  • @kikazlata thanks alot mate :)

  • Why you all mad, because he said something three years ago that is pretty fucking relevant in today's world.....

  • Shit attitude Mr Hawtin!!

So what he's saying is he's not in it for the music he's in it to make money....the dark side has taken him big time!....Im still going to see him in december but he's got his priorities all wrong.

  • fuck you. You can't hold bits and bytes in your Hands. YOu can't hear it without electicity. Vinyl is Culture and not every Artist care about more and quicker profit with digital releases like you. Money stinks (and you too haha)

  • LOL @ the recent outrage at this. This video is three years old!

  • CUNTTTTTT!

  • RICHIE HAWTIN is a pain in the ass!

  • who the fuck makes music for money anyway?

  • @slicydicer

    are you retarded

  • @frasierdog you must be I guess, sorry.

  • SHAME ON U...RICHIE

  • richiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii u suck.

  • As a tech DJ spinning for 20 yrs,I'm slowly coming around to using Traktor scratch 2 .. but,if given the choice; then it would have to still be the viynl that I'd have on me,than my laptop, etc ... lol.. it must happen ; surely when there's an Update ,etc .,. & as with so many updates it can not repair / fix an issues .. but completely fk one 's software up./.. what then ?? .. lol,you be screwed.. & analogue pisses all over digital ,which is really only appreciated on a 10 K and upwards Rig :)

  • it's not only about the profit, cunt!

  • Ritchie Hawtin is pain in the ass, not vinyl! And please cut your fuckin hair!

  • Comment removed

  • The real pain the ass is the disgusting music that you and other mercenaries are producing nowadays. It is understandable if you see it under the business perspective... but, man... dont' u consider that because of digital formats the quality of the music is just lower n lower and the integrity of real dj's gets fucked up??? Business is business.... art is art... and vinyl is and always be more related to art than the frakin digital! YO!

  • If you don't 'pay' for vinyl manufacturing then hold your criticism. I rest my case :P

  • f-

  • This fucking idiot, MUST know : making vinyls ,need money and love for music.

Also it needs knowledge and talent to play music with it.....

HE IS ONLY E SELLER THAT LOOKS HOW MAKING MONEY and not how to make music....

Fuck off man....we don't need these kind of people in music....(unfortunately there are many like you)

  • F*** your dog's ass...

  • richies been doing this bigger and for far longer than any of you complainers, and started on vinyl. if youve seen his live set, hes the most technical DJ out there and the only people who Ive seen put more thought in their sets might be sasha and digweed. vinyl is great to collect and for sound quality but its limiting for the type of set he puts out

  • richie i want see your pain in the ass

  • hey richie... fuck you

  • Quality versus Quantity

  • easy 2 say that mr ritchie , vinyl is tha best and it will keep going , first of all is way much better sound quality on vinyl than digital staff cd s computers and bla bla bla , is not all the dj s lazy mate , specialy when ur famous dj and win lots of money thats not the best thing u can say 2 the people they follow ...ahh , i forgot with lap tops even my grandmama can be djing very easy :)

  • I guess I buy only music from people who don't care making big money out of their sales. There isn't a single record I'd like to have which is not being pressed on vinyl. Different music I guess.

  • BTW Richie has always been on the cutting edge of technology, production & developments, why should it be any different when it comes to the biz? It really does seem inevitable that DJs are going to go with the digital flow. I just got Traktor & a controller. Something that would have been UNTHINKABLE up until recently for me as a major vinyl stalwart. Carrying around wax loses its allure when the distances are far & I'm getting too old to haul it. Laptop is the way. This is the future IMO.

  • Controversial statements sure to rile some people up but having been in the game, pressing and selling DIY I can surely see where he is coming from. Vinyl is cool stuff but its expensive to manufacture & ship. Plus as a label you have to deal with collecting unpaid bills & people returning discs years later expecting full credit. With digital a sale is a sale - no returns, plus no shipping, no storage, no pressing costs. More and more DJs will be going 'digital' . I do love vinyl tho'.

  • Richie, haven't you heard of zippyshare??? nobody buys digital music...

  • from guru and pioneer of electronic music u have turned yourself into a glorious business music industry stylish money maker . .

well done . but enough with your speeches man . . push your sync buttons .. and let us be what we have always been . .

i mean djs .. .if you have any memories of that ..

  • Some people don't do it for the money Richie but for their love in music. And if you want more profit better release some quality stuff rather than a high amount of crap digitally..

  • @appie09 exactly!!! it's so easy to release something these days, that lot of crap is out every day.. lots!! i listen like one good song every 100 songs. it's actually sad. i love electronic music, but sometimes i just feel really dessapointed, even good producers forget are forgetting what inspired them at first.

  • I bought vinyl for 10 years. '98-'08. I used to walk around Dublin visiting HMV or Abbey Discs. Bought 400 records at about 8 euro a pop. I stopped when I bought a pacemaker and realised I could get 80 mp3 tunes for every 1 piece of vinyl. 80 times the value isn't even a choice. Plus I can play a party without half a ton of gear. HMV has no vinyl and Abbey Discs is closed. Is that my fault? They never had the tunes I wanted so I got them on the internet. I feel sad that they are gone though. :(

  • vinyl is better because of the frequencies it reproduces. its got a fatter warmer sound it basically eq's the sound before u even play it

  • word to the mother-fucker. Anyone who grew up with vinyl, collected vinyl seriously, got stung by audiophile smoke and mirrors, but now understands the scientific basis for the inferiority of audio reproduction via vinyl, relative to digital media, gets what he is saying, everyone else must must be too young, dumb, or simply not professional enough to appreciate the reality of what he is saying. Having said that MP3s suck, we need to move to lossless compression @ 24/96 as standard.

  • Vinyls are a pain in the ass, that's why are the best. Much more effort to realease a record means the producer put a lot of his/her spirit for the REAL LOVE for electronic music, not for the money. I really support digital media, of course. However, I demand to all people who loves vinyls, not to let'em die. I beg you on my knees. RESPECT to our roots.

    PEACE ALL OVER THE WORLD.

    P.L.U.R. stills exists.

  • @cgartarg But Vinyl could also keep a lot of talented musicians and records from ever being put out simply because it requires way to much, compared to if that musician would just start up a label releasing it digitaly. Now, I'm in favour of the physical medium and collect both vinyl and cd simply because I enjoy the feel of it, but I don't see a reason to just go "Vinyl is a quality filter".

  • the level of ignorance ive seen in some of the comments of this video makes me wanna cry for humanity

  • U ARE WHO U ARE THANK'S THE VINYLS!!!!

  • hahhaha man what a bunch of crybabies you guys are. enjoy being left in the dust while all of us living in the modern digital age fly past you.

  • why he say that? that fucks my world

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck you, Hawtin.

  • sad but true...

some of ppl I know specifically told me that there's no way they'll ever make any money pressing and releasing their own vinyl..

Besides It's really hard to sell vinyl these days If you have your track selling for a 1.5$ on about 10major site-shops... Sceners are out there that will spend that 1.5$ and put the shit online for everyone to grab.. Its absurd Why pay 2000€ for pressing the vinyl if you can't get it back with the sales.. There's plenty of other ways to promote

  • Lol. not only his sets are shit, but his mouth also vomits shit.

  • true

  • The fact is that, today artists dont make money because of piracy and if every release would be on vinyl this wond be such a problem... a vinyl riped as an mp3 will never compare to the real stuf. Today most money are made from seling vinyl not from mp3... yeah it's costs alot... but if promoted well you make loads of cash.

  • @iftimiecatalin A vinyl ripped as a flac will sound exactly the same as a vinyl.

  • Richie is lookin towards the future! Vinyl's will be obsolete within a few years. Kinda sad, but blame Apple, not Richie!

  • he's not really advocating the whole "more profit" scene if you listen to what he's saying... idiots.

  • stupid Ritchie !! in the future i don't buy vinyl or digital from you !

  • sad....very sad.....

  • You fuckin richie hawtin... You only look for the profit but you forget to promote really good music.. most of the digital releases sucks.. so get down people and make some good music like good all times... Until then put a vinyl in your ass :P

  • move on guys life goes forward, some day wether you like it or not vynil its going to dissapear, you CAN do all the same things on vynils and software too, vynil just its an image, why dont you just record your new tracks on a cassette so you hear them in a sony walkman,oh i forgot we use IPODS now sorry

  • he doesn't speaks about carrying weighty vinyl he speaks about the production process and therefore it is a "pain in the ass" but i can't agree. what made him what he is today? his (former) music and VINYL and so it is. has he heard about copying music and distribution thru the internet?

what i see are big dollar-signs in his eyes and it makes me sad to see that mr. hawtin's development from a gifted and groundbreaking artist to a capitalist-minded businessman.

  • @corelgott Yeah, like going fucking around with a business is being a capitalist pig.

  • only i can hear is that richie massage is.....money money money...

so in my opinion richie is making music just to be famous and rich...

    sad story ....

never forget that mr richie...real dj plays only vinyl....and will never change it with some mp3

  • vinyl is a pain though ... he's right about that one .... you got to carry all those records around !!! it can get realy heavy ! loads of heavy bags and cases full of vinyl ... or a simple laptop ! wich one is easier !?? But vinyl still rules !!! it shows true DJ-skills and art !!!

  • techno is about the future... forward thinking, progression.

Vinyl dates back to the early 20th century. Not very progressive. Yet through innovation we've managed to invent brilliant ways to utilize the benefits of vinyl (cueing, pitch/speed control) to our advantage with final scratch, serato sl, traktor skratch, etc. and simultaneously ditch the pitfalls of vinyl (weight, space, cost).

To anyone saying that using a computer isn't "real techno". You're an idiot. Really! Think about it!

  • ok, but keep realizing tcv's

  • As the owner of a vinyl label, I completely agree. Vinyl IS a pain in the ass. And anyone who hasn't attempted to release records should probably STFU with all the shouts of "sellout" and all that.

  • @djshiva so what's your label again?

  • He's right, but digital media gets easily stolen and duplicated which sucks.

  • You cant beat the quality of sound vinyl produces

  • Fuck Native Instruments!

  • Its realllllllyyy hard to squeek!

  • Fucking sellout. Vinyl for life you overrated Bitch !!!

  • @MCVixenVee ..yeah? give away mp3's for free THAT is non-commercial..nothing else!

  • @MCVixenVee

    are you stupid?

mp3 are the future. vinyl is yesterday. for a dj is mp3 better to play a set, with vinyl you can´t do so much as with mp3. you have no idea what you say.

    you bonehead!!!!!

  • @minimalfreak84 you are a fucking musical phillistine

  • @minimalfreak84 you are wrong, probably never seen a vinyl record..and fuck all you final scratch jerks, and wannabe djs

  • @MCVixenVee but he made it on a computer so it's compressed either way

  • @Naiqvist balls

  • @MCVixenVee omfg dude he just told us what his oppinion is about vinyl after more exp than you or me or prettey much everyone that has commented so far here. And then again he had been using vinyl himself until 2002.And it is fact what he said..2011 every big dj out there that still uses vinyl uses software like NI:traktor scratch so basicaly it s digital djing.Sounds more like you hate Richie Hawtin and NI...oh and by the way he was probably talking about his label called MINUS not about NI..

  • Respond to this video... overrated pseudo know it all, low self steam sun of a gun, vinyl is what made you, you can`t go around spreading this bullshit, people listen to you!!!

  • Richie Hawtin is receiving mad endorsements from companies like Native Instruments for helping push vinyl off the market. Itll be better for his label in the long run also.

  • I stand by this!

MP3's have lowered the standard of quality world wide for audio. Yes even at 320

And I didn't say runined the industry, just lowered the standard of quality, 2 huge difference's I choose quality of quantity, it's really that simple.

  • I'm sure most people know what mp3.s are. Lots and lots of slices of audio cut out then compressed. So what about the cut out peices, you don't think you miss anything...

    The real question is this...

What is more important to you, saving space on your hard drive using mp3's, (even 320kbs)

    or

Wav's that takes up a little more space without the slices of missing audio.

With the cost of cheep hard drives, why would you ever think of using mp3's

  • @cornerking75 " With the cost of cheep hard drives, why would you ever think of using mp3's "

~> With the cost of 320k mp3's (almost free by now, you know what i mean), why would you spend so much money for wav's when you can't even afford a cdj ? Sorry, i live in a world where we judge a dj on what he plays, how he plays, and how he can make you dream, not the bitrate of his set. Jesus, nerds....

  • What does a cdj have to do with the format your using???Nothing. CDJ is a brand name,(and I have 2 CDJ 1000;s and 3 technics 1200's so I can afford them thanks, and a DJM 800 : )) so, I know the differnce between an MP3 and Wav and analog, (Vynal).

Yes I am a nerd, went to school for audio engineering!

  • @cornerking75 sorry, you got me wrong. I talked about cdj's as a comparison because, for many young dj's, it's something they often can't afford soon. Same for wav's. It's easier to just grab mp3's off the blogs & p2p. I understand that quality is important, but i wanted to defend some people.

  • "With the cost of 320k mp3's (almost free by now, you know what i mean), why would you spend so much money for wav's"

Silly question, of coarse the WAVs cost more, because it's better. Don't you want the best, I do, maybe that;'s the nerd in me,lol.

I am talking about overall sound quality. Not how the dj mixes his tracks. You judge a dj on what he plays you said, you should care about bitrate, makes the dreamy sound better, what ever that is.

  • My god,, He just killed plastick man

He rocked the house down in 96

    Dam I'm old!

  • fuck that im a new dj i got the ns7 by numark so digital is the future . old school sucks .... i dont give a fuck about all u old school people . like the dinosaur , u had ur time ..lol.

  • And you are just a fucking little arrogant prick.

  • hahahaha. u got to b a old school dj....

  • sorry bro . but is true man.

  • I'm just playing techno with is mostly based on vinyl printed between 90 and 2002. Made out of Detroit.

As I'm spining since the age of 15 which is now 7 years to the date then you might now just go back home and learn.

  • And I am just about to put quids in my forthcoming 500 copies cut.

  • Comment removed

  • @sistematic1 how old are you? 12?

  • lol richie is so funny... reminds me of larry david from curb your enthusesim<< cant spell that.

  • Ayyyy but what about cassettes? :))

  • fair play for richie to keep on selling vinyl to people who ain't bit the the bullet yet and gust to move forward.vinyl has got more character due to inperfections, evolution's about perfection.....personally i quite like vinyl,on a good sound system though.

  • easy... music is music !!!

  • Vinyl ! to me, mp3 etc. has no heart

  • for me the real djing is playing with (lp) vinyl, cd mp3 and that stuf good for child to listen music..

  • Richie F.U.C.K. YOU !!!

  • +++++++++++++fuck you too!

  • anyway I still love vinyl

  • Where does he mention mp3? I dont think any big DJs like Hawtin would dream of using mp3. Maybe his label releases mp3s, but you're kidding yourself if you think even high quality mp3 even comes close to any lossless format.

  • richie hawtin uses traktor...so he does use mp3

  • Doesn't traktor let you use wav? I'm sure has his hands on better quality than mp3 :)

  • yeah it dose let u use wav but a good qaulity 6 min wav track is about 200 mb so only 10 tracks would take up a gig of hark disk space so mp3 is much more eficient as its only about 28mb at 320kbs and anyway you would only be able to notice the difference between a high quality wav track and a 320kbs mp3 on only the very best of sound systems and even then the diiference would be minimal

  • I've seen a few of his DJ-twitter messages when he plays a track, a few of them still have the original file name, and they have MP3 in the file name.. Just an example

    promo_7_23_mp3_ambivalant_-_front_stab

thats not the actual one, but a few have looked like that

  • you are not the smartes person on earth with that comment. Of course he uses mp3, 99,999% of the clubbers dont hear difference and I bet your ass he doesnt even hear the difference himself.

Almost ALL big DJs use mp3 these days or lossless digital format.

So put your stupidness on another site.

  • You say OR lossless formats, so what's the problem?

Of course they can hear it... If you own a label, know the producers, why would you use an mp3 version?

  • we make vinyl now on MELEON MUSiC and BACKDOOR BEAUTY...... for those who love the black gold,...hahaha

  • mp3 are for beginners and people that are content with bad quality.

Vinyl are for conneseurs and people that love music and really good quality.

Simple as that, if you sometime happen to get a listen to a recordplayer in the $10 000 range, you'l NEVER EVER want to play a mp3 ever again.

  • dude its not what u got but what u put out.....vinyl or not.....welcome to the future

  • so ur saying richie hawtin is a beginnger and not a music lover :s

  • He is totally right, sad but true vinyl is dying

  • mp3 helps the small labels

stops the music industry from the last 10-15 years of stagnation

  • Yes, the Digital way is maybe the solution but why is anybody wants MP3 instead of better digital format ???

Ok most of the time there's no difference between MPS 320 kbps and a wav, even with good monitors.

  • But sometimes, mp3 makes a metalic sound in the high frequencies of some tracks.

And just for this reason, mp3 is not a good solution.

And now we can have hard drive with many place to store wav or flac so please forget about mp3.

  • The bad sound quality is not caused by the mp3 format. It's caused by bad mastering.

The downside is digital music is that virtually everybody can release it at very low cost. That means there are fewer barriers to release music and as a result much more music is being released these days. Including a lot of junk; both in a creative way and a technical way

  • You're right, mp3 is not the cause of the majority bad sound.

Most of the time some producers do mastering themself without any knowledges about it.

But in some cases, mp3 supress some high frequencies (even in 320kbps) and it could be heard easily in many kind of monitors (even cheapers). That's why i prefer .wav format or .flac.

Now we could have big storage space so why not prefer the better sound quality ?

  • Formats have more to do with profit and loss for labels than sound quality. All formats are there to provide a delivery to the consumer, but sure - go for the highest quality you can find. Besides that, remember Betamax vs VHS? Betamax was visually superior...

  • i think you dont understand me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i said: VINYL KILLS THE MP3 INDUSTRY!!!!!!!

    for shure vinyl sounds better!!!

    greetz

  • Vinyl doesn't kill the mp3 industry in any way.

They are not real substitutes anymore, mainly because of the cost aspect.

  • vinil kills the mp 3 industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vinyl sounds better.

If you want to go the digital way, try .wav or .flac but MP3 sucks.......is anybody lost their ears ???

  • depends how you encode it

its possible to make mixes sound like vinyl

but fuck you if you think im gonna make something sharp and clear, then take it down a notch to what some think "sounds better" ;[
